- Destiny 2: Season of Plunder - Eramis Reveals Mithrax's Dark Secret + New Nezarec Cutscene | Sails of the Shipstealer Week 5 Story Quest
After weeks of hiding, the truth finally comes out about what Mithrax has been hiding. Revealed to us by Eramis, Mithrax's mother harvested Nezarec, a deceased disciple of the Witness in the Moon Pyramid. He inherited Nezarec's remains which blessed him with untold dark power. As he accumulated more, the more violent he became and the less he shared. Upon learning this, Eido is unable to even speak with her father...

“Mithrax is a thief and a murderer”
*Our guardian, holding weapons taken from enemy factions, wearing their armor, and with a kill tracker on each gun to count the thousands of kills each has nonchalantly avoiding eye contact with eido*
I doubt the Guardian has any shame wielding these treasures.
@@StealthTheFoxz why should he though he earned them and protects humanity with them
@@StealthTheFoxz no they don’t at all
Full eye contact with eidolon. She understands we are a force of nature, morals do not apply
No, I would point out that this is Eramis talking. The same Eramis who unleashed the Vex on her own city, all so she could plunder a few gadgets from the Deep Stone Crypt. A move that didn't pay off in the slightest, and doomed her whole House to a slow extinction.
I like how she is talking about how Mithrax cannot change and he will always be the same but just a few seasons ago we witnessed Saint-14 (aka the boogeyman of the eliksni) go from a devout hater of them to one of their most trusted allies.
At most eramis is the one who will never change she sees that her people are doing better now in the last city but still chooses to side with the witness and have more fallen die every day
@@dropkick3024 Eramis experienced tragedy after the Traveler abandoned them, sadness leads to anger, and rage. She wants her people to feel free and safe, as long as it doesn’t have anything to do with the Machine-God that abandoned them. She’d love for Eliksni to unite with her, but if they refuse, she’d eliminate the opposing side. I want the next meeting with Eido and Eramis.
“YOU ARE MY PEOPLE!” dang that line gave me shivers
It’s like she forgot the part where she used stasis and the vex on her own people not too long ago too.
So…was it really his fault though? If the relics were influencing Mithrax’s mind, it sounds a lot like what happened to Uldren or Eramis or even Dredgen Yor. If anything, Mithrax is lucky he was able to escape the corruption at all!
Wait dredgen, do u mean drifter, or the original dredgen, I haven’t read the lore yet
Probably the original dredgen
@@blackhooded1596 I meant the original Dredgen. Dredgen Yor was a Titan who modified his signature weapon, the Thorn, with bits and pieces of Hive tech. Through these mods, a Hive Wizard influenced his mind and he ended up corrupted by the Darkness. He went on a deranged killing spree before he was taken down by Shin Malphur. I think Drifter used to be one of his followers, but Season of the Drifter indicated he left them.
So rakis and siviks were on the shore becouse od missraks that explains a lot
@@ShawndaPrawn yooo that is really cool lore, thanks my guy👍

Eramis: Open your eyes, young Scribe. Every light casts a shadow.
The Guardian: You forgot the first part. The full line is, "In the darkness, light shines more brightly, and where light shines, it casts a shadow." -Ulan-Tan
Funny how his theory of Symmetry is starting to come to fruition. We have the Guardians of Humanity, whom are the only beings that can wield both Light and Dark, using both powers in unison. While with Witch Queen, that symmetry of both powers is reflected in our mission staying the same: protect humanity. But the motivations have changed. As our allegiances shifted from one side with the Traveler, to fighting as a neutral force for Humanity and our allies. At least that’s where I see the story going. By the Final Shape, we will be free of the influence and manipulation of the Traveler and the Witness. With Guardians and the rest of Sol being judges of their own destiny.
@@garrettviewegh677 that would be an awesome ending! And would show why the game is called destiny…🤔
@@garrettviewegh677 "Guardians make their own fate."
@@garrettviewegh677 It can also be seen in Duality and Strand. Duality's hidden lore voicelines show Calus talking about the game being played, the strands he sees being plucked and played with by the Witness more or less. Strand is in essence, making will reality by grasping into another reality and effecting ours as a result.
Guardians, much like Ahamkhara, are paracasual. One could say they are vessels for the powers that be considering the Dark Future lorebook, Dredgens, and the idea of Dark Guardians. Nevermind Aisha from Trials gear.
We, Guardians, are not bound by the world, by the Light, nor by the Dark. It has been a reoccuring theme, even started as a buff in VoG.
*Time's Vengeance*, otherwise known as, 'Guardians make their own fate (DESTINY).'
@@garrettviewegh677 What manipulation of the traveler? All it does is make us. We’re pretty much left to protect it as we see fit.
As the wise words of Paarthurnax “What is better: to be born good or to overcome your evil nature through great effort?” I stand with you , Misraaks!
Attention to detail that the narrative team has with adding Spider and Siviks into that cutscene is absolutely fantastic. Destiny seriously has some of the greatest lore of all time.
I didn’t even notice them the first time nice catch
Ohhh at the beginning, that’s dope
First I thought "what is that fallen with the funky helmet?" Then I sit and remembered "OH SH*T RIGHT I KNOW you were the boss in the izanagi quest"
That and Eramis is missing her gauntlet since its back in the little hut on Europa
Just came here from listening to Myelingames talk about it. Apparently spider and his brother grew up with Mithrax. And if you notice when they're kicking people off the ship, they're kicking spider and his brother off as well. So yeah, those two have a history.
Mitraaks is not that same person. He has felt that awful taint of power, with age and wisdom he rejects it and warns others not to follow his poor decisions. I stand with him, and he stands with me. Not as oppressor and slave, but as Eliksnii and Human.
I stand with the Light Kell as well
Indeed
Man, I love that they used the house of wolves track “Betrayer” from D1 for this cutscene. Very fitting choice and a fantastic soundtrack!
Makes sense too. Mithrax was originally from the House of Wolves. Who was their Kell again? Oh yeah, Skolas the Rabid!
I loved House of Wolves so much I have the house symbol tattoo'd on my forearm
@@xennethsixx2838 lmao
@@ShawndaPrawn Mithrax was originally from the House of Weavers, which eventually became House of Wolves following the Whirlwind under the leadership of Mithrax's mother, Inaaks, who was the one that discovered Nezarec and the Lunar Pyramid. We don't know when Skolas became Kell of House of Wolves, but I'm guessing it had more to do with Mithrax not wanting to continue down the dark path after being corrupted and eventually leaving the Wolves, which allowed Skolas to become Kell. Though we don't have enough information about Skolas Rise to Kellhood.
@@xennethsixx2838 that's actually awsome
I find it interesting that Eramis sighs before her recount, as if she's disappointed that Misraaks won't do it himself.
Maybe she is more complicated from being a servant of the Witness. She seems to care about her people, she was too vengeful and extreme, but I don’t want her to be another boss fight again. The Eliksni are very interesting, and they have been warring for centuries. Misraakskel and Eramiskel were the most successful unifiers(I’m not including Uldren and House Dusk because that House broke pretty much, with the exception of the Cosmodrome I think), and I think Bungie should some more impressive storyline details. I want to see the next interaction with Eramis, and I hope that it doesn’t end badly, because I like Eido and Misraaks.
To be fair; I think Misraaks only wanted to see Eido to see the person he became, not the one he had to overcome to be where he is today. The way I see it, parents want their children to see the better part of them, not all the broken and evil that they’d done in the past.
Its important to note that Eramis had children with her mate, Athrys back on Riis. She was a parent once and she really loved her wife. She is a villain, yes, but she also isn't heartless as she's guided by revenge and blind righteousness. While she was taking advantage of Eido's tendency to see good in every person during this season, I think here she felt Eido was caught in the crossfire. She's just a curious teenager who grew up sheltered. I think in this moment, Eramis felt that it was a shame that Misraaks wouldn't owe up to his past mistakes and Eido had to learn about her adoptive father's past from her (admitteddly biased view) instead of him
It would be very interesting for the guardian to pop in to their discussion when eramis didn't agree to meet a light bearer but the guardian could say "I'm not just a lightbearer but I've seen the voice in the dark and spoke with it for a short time" for example then that would put things into a very different place with everyone
While possible, it is possible to never have defeated eramis in your playthrough and still reach here. An example of how that works is that if you start a new guardian after forsaken, you'll be told that cayde is dead. Even though you were there in forsaken. So it's better to remain silent in this regard.
Nah it sounds edgy that way
I think Eido is smart enough to see her father has changed, and especially since Eramis even said outright that the relic was influencing him, he wasn't making those decisions just on his own.
At the same time, she is probably very hurt that he wouldn't tell it himself.
@@floppydisksareop I’m sure she’ll come around. She hasn’t really had a chance to properly think it through yet.
The way mithrax Said "maybe someone you have wrong" helps me think he was the one who sent the forces that tried to take the relic last week
Edit: I meant the week with beast tamer
forces? he was the force. singular.
@@Artifex_Prudens I mean I the one called the beast tamer I meant weeks ago were some force tried to kill the beast tamer they talk about it in this

Light without Darkness is just as corrupting as Darkness without Light. The Traveler has proven that. I don't blame Mithrax, he was lucky to turn back.
Im really enjoying how they're diving into the more personal and emotional stories of these other species. showing they arent just monsters we fight and kill. they have their own personalities and histories. plus i love having former foes turn friends
Like how our Guardian just arrives at this confrontation with a pop corn tub and a gun pointed at them
This would have been a good time to pull out Gjallarhorn and finish the Eramis problem

very likely, as even then Savathun was working against The Witness and secretly for the Traveler.
Yep, you called it. Nezarec is constantly bitching in RoN about how Savathun killed and buried him
Dang Eramis is almost our size compared to the boss battle lol
Yeah she was bigger last i saw her but now

Yes, was gonna say “Why is she so smol?” But I just chalked it up to her shrinking when frozen
Let's be honest Mithrax had a chance to prevent this - he said it himself he knew Eramis was able to wield word as well as sword. He very well knew she had no qualms telling Eido the truth, and had the rare chance to say it before she could. Heck he could have even added in the info of how he believes it was the artifacts influencing him, and maybe even asked Ikora or Saint-14 to back his words up. There's history there, and I can imagine Saint talking about how he butchered entire ketches worth of Eliksni just because they were Eliksni. It wouldn't be pretty for Eido, but it would be better for her to hear it from the Kell of House Light than Eramis.
With the way things are going you know she's going to do something rash soon.
Mithrax didn't want to tell Eido because he wanted that dark history to die. He didn't want his daughter to remember those bad times, he wants her to look forward to the bright future.
Eido isn't upset at the story itself, just the fact that her father wouldn't tell her the truth and it was Eramis who had to tell her. And, she wants to hear the truth, the past may not be pretty or good but it's the truth.
We also see the dynamic of 'Light forgets/Dark remembers' again in their interactions.
@@onlyicedgarrett7791 yea probably the only realistic reason for her to be upset…too bad bungie’s probably gonna have her do something stupid with *that* somehow being the drive…probably
it's not uncommon for parents to keep the darker aspect of their past from their child
If you do the bad things in the past, will you tell them to your children?
Don’t worry, Mithrax. I got your back. We all have dark inside us. To stand in the light is a choice, made every day. Eido cannot judge you. Nor Eramis, who only sees what fits her narrative.
And neither can we.
Stand in light, Kell of Kells. We will bear it. We will honor our Oath to you and your House. The Light provides. And if it doesn’t?
Luna’s Howl can always add a little bit more…
We definitely have his back as we did in beyond light, but we also gotta look at the whole story. If what Aramis says abt Mithras is true, that's one hell of a past he has, and no the prettiest one at that. It's a total 180 to what we've known his a,s and I mea,n does he still have the reli,c or how has he been combating the darkness? I don't see the night pulling you in the same way for everyone. Baree minimum will Bungie go into this more or will this be another story for another time at times like this good to know my name by or evade exist BCS the lore doth provide
We don’t have a pretty past either we at one point completely defied the vanguard abandoned the city with our own Kurt for vengeance and justice against uldren sov, it’s with this that I think the guardian and ghost know empathy very well here.
And if it does not, we will create a third. Human, Cabal, Eliksnii, and all who will stand with us. Unity creates the Bomb.
Eido doesn't judge Misraaks for his past, but that she had to hear it from Eramis, not him.He knew well ahead of time that his past was going to come to light and that he should be the one to tell Eido before Eramis did. However, he hesitated and delayed in order to try and sugarcoat the story somehow.
In Misraaks' defense, however, it's not easy to bring up a past like his in a casual way.
I stand with Misraaks
Gotta say, this was very heartfelt.
Eramis: Misraaks is a liar, a thief,and a killer.
*The Guardian who lies behind the vanguard's back holding an exotic weapon they looted from the corpse of a self proclaimed god they killed* : "Okay your point?"
Eramis isn't judging Mithrax for what he used to do
She's judging him for quitting and chnaging his ways. She believes he should have stayed on his murderous path.
Eramis is just trying to start shit and hurt mithrax and divide his house.
He's shown more than once that he's an ally. He could've tried killing us on Titan he didn't. He helped us recover outbreak perfected rather than take the weapon for himself.
He helped us end the endless night and taught the guardian how to be a splicer something sacred to them.
He was influenced by the darkness but here he is a better person a leader and a father trusted ally and a friend to the guardians. He tries to build a better future for himself and those that follow him rather than alienate and continue to destroy and hold ill will towards the traveler for their collapse.
Eramis can speak that and it could all be true. Mithrax could be all those things but he chooses to be better. His past doesn't dictate his future. He's shown to have learn from his past his mistakes.
Eramis has shown she's still willing to lead the fallen to their deaths in guise of freedom while mithrax continues to show the value in working with lightbears and following the traveler.
Eramis isn't judging Mithrax for what he used to do
She's judging him for quitting and chnaging his ways. She believes he should have stayed on his murderous path.
Poor Mithrax I understand what he was trying to do you can’t escape the past that easy even a little sliver of darkness still reveals a shadow of your former self
I kinda hope we can have eramis on our side but I doubt it
i hope we get to freeze her again
Well ain't you going to be surprised.
I feel like there’s more a chance than not; if she can see past our affiliation to the Traveler, our actions against the Houses (and admit they started all this on our own home) and realize the Witness has no good intentions for anyone, then we can make a true change.
She wants what is best for her people (even if not the best in practice), and we the same for our own, not to forget Caiatl, and we can help each other (with or without the Traveler). Rage and old hatreds are the only things really stopping her.
I mean we did it with Caital and the cabal it just takes realizing that spilling bloodshed among the different races is destroying them and that a power the darkness is using them and wants to destroy them, I’m hoping she realizes the darkness is using her and outs past her rage and anger like caital and the cabal did.
Destiny seems to be doing a thing where all our major enemies become allies or share common goals in some fashion to unify against the darkness. Like the Cabal with Caital, Uldren Sov as the Crow or even Savathun to an extent.
Wait till the Vanguard finds out. When they find out the Mithrax used to wield Darkness.
Ikora - Will understand Mitthrax's mistake since she knows that the Guardian used Darkness in order to see through the tricks of Savathun.
Saint-14 - Will feel almost like betrayed by hearing his friend used Darkness, but will try to support him since he doesn't want to be the monster he was seen as in the past.
Drifter - Mithrax used to be a bad guy. He will try his best so Eido and her father reconcile.

Why am I thinking missraks was the one that attacked the eliksnie and cabal dogs before we arrived. Hence why the relic wasn't taken and him stating that it may have been someone eramis wronged
I mean, from what we gathered about mithrax from the conversation he had with shaxx, we knew mithrax was a savage against people and guardians alike. It was because he was down mercy that allowed him to self introspect about his choices and actions up until then. Eramis telling eido about mithrax wasn't about eido at all. It's all just to mess with Mithrax. Eidos still a kid so there's the possibility of her doing something rash. But if mithrax can talk to saint or others to gain perspective, I have a feeling this week okay off fine while exposing what the relics are for as I can imagine it's has a relation to lightfall.
Strange they showed some of Nezarecs body. Almost as if he might come back... Also it seems Mithraks was the force that was trying to get the relics as both Eramis said he hasn't changed and they show him murdering someone with Eido nearby

Has anyone separated the soundtrack that plays in the background of the cutscene?
am i the only one who's notice that Eramis is shorter than when we fought her?
Poor Eido
Nobody questions why eramis is so small now back in beyond light she was like twice as tall
Ether intake, duh
anyone else get Darth Vader vibes when she asked them to join her?
Did we ever find out who the third party that was looking for the relics was? Was it xivu arath?
