Very helpful Currently in a gap year with one year left for my undergraduate, and IO was always my end goal. This video has encouraged me to go back and finish school. But first I need to get a job 😂
Oregon has license requirements for clinical, counseling & school but nothing exists for IO Psychology. Are you still considered a psychologist without licensing it’s just a specialty level? I wouldn’t want to get my doctorate if Oregon would not consider me as such or take my doctorate seriously
I have a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and your video has helped me to decide upon my next educational step. This is key because I am slated to interview for a CES doctoral program in less than a week and am beginning to second-guess that particular path. Thank you.
@@JillSeiver I really believe so. I enjoy helping others but find the perpetual and incessant defeatist attitudes within our society to be tiresome. I think it is due, in no small measure, to my 24 year Navy career; advancement and recognition came to those who worked the hardest rather than who had the loudest whine. I have been looking for a way to salvage this second career because I am ill-suited to holding someone's hand when they are unwilling to do the hard work. I can/have done it but the effort is draining. I also feel as if I am way behind the powercurve in a psychology-based career so I/O could be a way for me to utilize my experiences more effectively while still affording me the opportunity to counsel. To say that my anxiety is profound would be an understatement and finding anyone to work through the decision is nigh on impossible. I simply do not know what I do not know. I'm sorry for dumping all of that at your feet! Yes, I have decided that crawling into this CES doctorate will be a mistake that will leave me miserable, and one miserable career is enough for me. Thank you.
@@clydedenby1436 I hear what you're saying about that! I/O is frustrating, too, as organizations may hire you and then not take your advice. But it may be a great match for your personality style and experience, as I/O is much more focused on giving advice than on guiding a client toward their own realization.
@@clydedenby1436 I am at the beginning of a CMHC degree program and am seeing the same defeatist and victimizing perpetualization of the mental health field. What did you decide to do? Do you have greater peace and job satisfaction with your decision?
I really enjoyed this video. Now, I'm thinking about moving to New York, lol. I'm going for a doctorate in I/O psychology, but I'm debating if a should do a double major at the Master's level. Academics and having my own practice is my goal.
That's great that you're planning to go I/O! A master's in human resources or an MBA would certainly improve your credibility among business organizations.
@@JillSeiver ohkay but this is my humble request please collect information about io psychology from India , I'm gave 12th std and I am interested in psychology so its very nesscery to me , if u can🙏🙏

That's great that you're going into I/O!! You'll find a job to propel you through that final year of undergrad!

@@starfishbatman There is no licensure for IO Psychologists in any state that I'm aware of.

Where can I download the PowerPoint notes ma'am?
I don't have my PowerPoint notes posted on the internet. I share them with my students when they're enrolled in my class.
