What a cool video and a unique way to market your services! Nice work.
The most important thing you need is the self confidence that you can do it.
This video was the best!! I did my two French Doors and my back door glass.
He mentions using washing detergent, you can but it cant have any grease cutting agent in it so thats why they use baby shampoo. I mistankingly used washing up liquid and it stripped the tackness from the back of the film so wouldnt stick properly and kept falling off the glass. As soon as a I used baby shampoo all was happy with the world!
He mentioned baby shampoo, maybe you weren't paying attention
@@watuzi I certainly was paying attention - 2.30 hes says 'dish soap or anything' will work _ Im not knocking him its just Im trying to educate people not to make the mistake I made.
I used baby shampoo and it was crap. Switched to Dawn and had no problem.
I've always used johnson & johnson baby shampoo. Works great
@@madamx269 Thank you. These window film DIY videos always assume someone has baby shampoo in their home.
Great detailed install along with a ballpark for pricing.
The only thing that I found inconsistent was using kitchen towels. Don’t use that or shop towels. Most leave residues behind.
Stick to your microfiber as you were going to mention.
Thanks for the vid
You made this look easy, nice work and thanks for the inspiration.
Did my sliding doors today, and your video assisted me. Thank you!
Very informative! I have the confidence to try it now because i know exactly how!! Thanks.
Absolutely great tutorial! Thanks for sharing it!
I applied the tint to the outside of the windows and cursed like a wildman the whole time. 😄😅🤣😂 I wish I had watched this video FIRST! 😆😆😆🤣🤣🤣 The tint is all bubbled and cracked!!! 😂😂😂But MAN is it cooler, now!!!!
Thank s u are an 100 times best vidéo, i m in Montréal, nobody calls back im good for next heatwave next week just because of u , God bless u!
If you don’t use the right window tint on double pane windows you can ruin the sealing gaskets on the window. Heat gets trapped between the panes of glass and pushes out on the gaskets.
Could you educate me more on this?
Awesome tutorial and appreciate the insight. Well done
Thanks for the video. Im going to try doing my front glass door that faces the afternoon sun.
Amazing video with great tips and lots of detail to help you replicate the job! Thank you!
Loved this, helped me a lot. I'm done 4 out of 5 now... But how do I peel the last one when I have no windows left to use as a peel board?
I was wondering once the tint is installed can you easily peel it off?
Great video! Will tinting a dual pane window damage them?
Very good video! I got 2 skylights in my living room and I can't see my TV during the day so I'm looking to tint those so if I want to watch TV during the day I can
awesome video ,thanks
Never throw away the trim,it is still useful.
Great Video
I've been a window cleaner a long and you only need to overlap strokes by about 2" not half!! Fo installing film yes overlap about half. Faning or continious squeeging is better and faster too. Also its better to cut on the floor or table then reverse roll/drop method the film instread of carrying the film "naked" and fllpping it around which is hard and doesnt work on big windows!
Keep in mind this video is intended for DIY’ers not for professional window tinters. This is a macro video for the masses and to generate views.
I’m currently working on a training series for 2024 that is for professionals covering everything you need to know to get into the industry.
Great video! Wish the light was on in order to see better!
Nice to see you patrick
Hey lonnyBear! Hope you’re doing well!
When you tint all the windows, what can you use as a peel board now?
Can you buy a window tint that you can’t see in at night?
yeah, solid black =D
I bought the Gila home tint static and they recommend putting the tint on outside of window why is that
ahh someone without a beard no clone here looking good man
So professional. Jesus....
Thank you? Not sure if this is sarcasm or not lol
Good video my man. Thanks!!
How long does this tint last ?
I heard that if you have double pane glass, you should tint the outside because the heat trapped will ruin the factory seal. What's your opinion?
#1 this film is NOT exterior film still last about a month.
#2 about the heat trapping you are right and you are wrong at the same time.
This film is a silver film so it has so high reflectivity that the film doesn’t trap the heat it bounces it off, Dual Reflective films do the same. But some ceramic films are too absorbing of heat could possibly break the glass and or the seals. There are many factors that determine what kind of film to put on glass like glass type, number of panes, if there’s a low e coating and where it’s located, etc.
That’s why this video only goes over this type of film. The other types are not readily available to the average consumer.
Okay I bought the mirror one from home depot. It says install inside. But when I did the mirror effect is on the inside and you can see into the house at night. I don't get it.
Sounds like you installed it backwards? Mirror effect should be seen from the outside. And when installed correctly, if lights is turned on inside at night, outside can see in.
I just got a quote of 1000 bucks to get this done for two rooms windows !
That seems about right. Our average residential installation starts around $1,500-$2,000
We installed windows tint today. Followed your directions. But i have streaks between the film and the windows. Cleaned the windows very well before applying tint. Will the steaks go away. I used dawn soap and water to clean and wet windows
Haziness and moisture pockets are common after install those should clear up after the curing process.
Thank. You. Imagine having thick blackout curtains in Chicago in August 🥵
Very nice tutorial my guy.
Thank you
Is there any window film/tint that you can't see inside at night time
Short answer is no, however if you install exterior lights to over power your interior lighting, the tint would perform similar to the way it does during the daytime.
I don’t like to see much contamination 2 feet away. Is 6 feet away the standard for most people?
question ,, if you plan on moving can you remove tint
Yes
I’ve tried this multiple times but continue to get steaks somehow. They won’t wash off. So it seems they are in the inside and I can’t figure it out. I squeegee the excess out. Make sure the initial process has a clean surface and still get smudging? Any ideas?
At night can you see in from the outside though
Amazon film you would recommend?
If you’re gonna do it yourself pretty much anything you like. It’s all the same at that point tbh
Excellent! Thanks.
Is it true that you can't tint dual pane cause it will crack the window?
If you tint inside glass, the heat gets trapped in between the pane, and it can break the seal.
@@sungminhong9673 have anyone proven this? I have tint on my window and last couple of weeks, it was 107 Fahrenheit.
Can I use this home window film for cars window tinting.
You can not. It’s too reflective. But they’re is auto film available at Walmart and other auto stores
Never install window film on your windows, If you are hiring someone to do it, ask if they have a warrantee that covers seal failures as butting window film on the inside of your windows not only void your factory warrantee against seal failures it will more than like be the cause of seal
failure.
I would not recommend using paper towels to clean the window, it can leave contaminates, I always used lint free towels, I also used canned air to blow out the edges first and then a lot of spray around the edges to pull out any dust... also when setting the film you can set the factory long edge vs the short to minimize cutting and reduce mistakes...but overall not a bad tutorial.
I want as much natural light to come through my home windows as possible so I definitely would not want to tint my home windows, that's why there are blinds/shades/curtains.
Same material, same process, same faces and it keeps pulling away from the window. Any suggestions?
Are you laying the adhesive side to the glass? Is it in fact glass and not plexi or textured surface
@@WindowTintingBusiness apparently all was correct in my process, thanks to you. The manufacturer said that it may have been in the shelf for too long, so the curling forces were stronger the adhesive. I just taped overnight and the next day all good

Would the tint cause the glass to heat stress and crack or break?
Not this tint because it’s reflective. I don’t believe they cell architectural ceramic or neutral films for the average consumer because people would end up putting it on the wrong glass
@@WindowTintingBusiness Thank you, was going to tint my windows of my house but I was worried about it.
Dude… how tf do you remove the liner. I used nails, teeth everything and it still won’t separate from the film!!!
Its easy if you use regular scotch tape. Just put one piece on each side at the corner it will separate when you pull it apart.
Thanks for the video. Can you remove this, and how would you do it?
I would say you can but you might want to use a heat gun to get the adhesive off.
Professional window tinters buy by the 100 ft role, and not buy from retail stores!
Correct. Professional installations also could cost hundreds to thousands of dollars for an install. Hence the purpose of this video, to show an everyday person how they’d do it themselves
@@WindowTintingBusinessthank for saying something bc I was going to go off on this clown like dude u can clear see u trying to help
Out home owners with what they have access to smh some
Ppl just slow
❤
Rip off prices too!
!!BEWARE!! double(and rarely triple) paned windows which is 99% of homes built after the 80's will fail if you install window tint. this guy has a balcony and some shade over his windows so he may be fine, but the uv rays and light reflected from the inside tint will travel back through the air pocket in the window causing excessive expansion, then when the window cools down it will contract leading to seal failure. it can reduce your windows lifetime to as low as 3 years. The window manufacturer will NOT cover your warranty if it failed because of tint.
Installing Low % tint on a south facing window will damage your window, however doing it on a north facing or shaded window can negate this(Lower % means darker inside). look at exterior window tints, more pricey, but cheaper than replacing a failed window.
Incorrect… silver is the safest film and can be put on any home glass. Hence why they sell only silver.
Neutral or ceramic films need a specific type of glass to ensure it’s applied safely and correctly.
Do you think I would put out a video that would potentially be dangerous for people?… come on
Um no i can jus send u my address and u come out im in Sac lol
Sticking the plastic from inside does not protect you from heat, the plastic heats up and emits the heat inside your house. However, if you stick the plastic from outside, the plastic will heat as soon as the sun hits on it and the heat stays outside. Depending on what exactly you want, the plastic can be stuck from inside or outside. It is a question of choice, if you want to heat or cool your house
Sprayer you're showing is worthless
yup, the old ones were so much better
You can go to tintkeg.com and spend $300 if you’d like. Its a diy video so I’m trying to make it affordable
Well, you have options to buy a better spray bottle.
Why do ppl want home window tint? And please explain how it saves on energy bc that sounds like bs
Why: to reduce glare and tone down the amount of light going into the house.
Energy savings: 1/2 your electric bill is your ac. When you can install window tint it should block about 60%ish of heat going into the house. Less heat in means less ac and energy to cool the house. You typically see a reduction in your energy bill by about 1/3.
