I just have to say that after following you for the last few years you guys always manage to be a couple of steps ahead of what my next PC idea will be which I find amazing. I haven't built a new rig in about 8 years and have decided that 2023 is about time to start again thanks to your incredible content. Thank you for being so informative and enjoyable to watch. Keep up the fantastic work. I wish I had your job,you guys make this stuff look so much fun!

One thing I will say is if you are working off of a low end/small form factor board, be aware of how many fan headers you have. I was just doing a lower budget build with a motherboard that only had one cpu fan slot and one system fan slot. Ended up having to buy a fan hub to get my fans connected!

@@ThatMinecraftPig__1 Im starting up the mountain as well.
We're right on the cusp of a changing of the guard (with Graphics cards at least - CPUs likely to follow later on).
First pick your price and from there realise the bulk of it will be eaten by the CPU and GPU. Then it becomes a matter of match the compatibilties. The Motherboard seems the hardest becase its got all of the acronyms, but try to remember that everything was designed by people (so you'll be able to understand). For Intel Z = High end, B = budget end, then the number (kinda) disctates how new it is, bigger newer (gross oversimplification but kinda works feature wise). From there all brands basically offer diferent features, find something that meets your needs, I for example wasted money on a headset that has too many effing 3.5mm jacks to function properly so that becomes a featuer I look for. AMD is similar, X = High end, B = lower end, then the numbers dictate, similarly, the variety of most current features. Once again, brand to brand offer different options.
The tricky part is being vigilant - if you don't understand something google it first, make sure you need it. internal ports for fan powering has a code, internal power and funtionality for case features (like front facing USB or lights) have a code, Extra power required for some GPUs have a code, RAM compatability has a code (get where I'm going). not a lot of these codes overlap which is nice, but to build and enjoy a gaming PC you don't really need to understand everything on a deep level, just whether its important to your build or not.
Another great way to learn is to mess around with online PC builders and make something within your budget/level of needs then research each component slowly and see what features set it apart and why it is a basic requirement for each different build. And try to be patient, sucks but its true, I really want my PC tomorrow, but in Feb 2025 theres a new line off GPUs and so I'm waiting to see some performance and cost variables before I jump in (although it kills me).

Ive never even owned a computer and am building my first gaming pc. I’ve heard a LOT of complaints with the ASUS B650E. Like coil wind, problems with drivers, usb, Bluetooth, and LAN issues, trouble with initial BIOS launch, having to download drivers off a different computer to a usb so that the internet works, and I’m probably missing a few. I was leaning hard toward this mobo due to the micro center bundle with the 7900x but now I’m completely turned off by it. UA-camrs recommending AM5 but then so many people also saying it’s sh*t and stay with am4. Are these legitimate concerns? Are they issues with the non asus b650? Should I forget the $300 savings and just get better components? Im really just so confused and with so much money and a 2.5 hour drive one way to micro center I DO NOT want to mess this up. Thanks for anyone willing to help..

0 issues doing any of it and i have a mild overclock on my 7800X3D. A770 is pretty killer nowadays, it runs starfield fine now and i get 244 fps on high settings on avatar. 1080p btw but there is no reason it cant run 2k or 4k. my monitor is the limiting factor which i'll be upgrading soon.

I bought the Asus Z690E because I had three 2tb M.2 and two 1tb M.2 ssds. I also still have a blue ray DVD drive I use, and two 1tb sata ssds. Yes, I know that's a lot of storage.

it's hard to get an itx board on the market for a reasonable price these days, due to availability. i recommend micro-atx for small form factor builds because they are more available
