I'd apologize for referencing the PS4S as the Non-superior Summer tire compared to the SuperSport. Thanks to your comments I did a bit more research and the PS4S is the SuperSport replacement and is stated by Michelin to preform better than the Super Sport. Although, I still stand by my opinion, tires definitely are the cars weakest point on track. Sorry for the mix up everyone!
@@raymeekss that is what he did if you see the video were he tried the burntout. Although yes you drop the "clutch" it only spins the tires for a bit. What the main complain is that it won't do a sitting burntout🤘
@@raymeekss The car has larger rear brakes and the grip on the rear tires is so much it'll push the car rather than sitting in place. It might work with liquid under the rear end but even still I bet the most one can do is a rolling burnout for a short distance.

@@fashintoxin5148 The Super Sport is gone has been gone for years except in very few oem cases. The ps4s is the new pss. In my opinion the pss actually had a stiffer tire carcass and sidewall than the ps4s however Michelin realized most people never drive past 0.5gs even with their sports cars. Delamination is common with ps4s on even a car like an E90 m3. when I took my e90 m3 to autocross I almost delaminated the tires Please do not buy ps4s expecting to go on the track.
Kinda expected that for a first gen model, especially with GM products. If I were getting a C8 I'd wait at least 2 years before getting one because of all the bugs and issues that the vehicle would have at launch.
Thank you. Literally scrolled down to correct him. The ps4s is the pss replacement and has superior grip. From the looks of his front tire wear he should have added some neg camber up front for track use.
Still the SS was more hardcore than the PS4S. Stiffer sidewalls, carcass and lower profile. I think TJ meant that this is a more allround tyre, and that it really is. And having driven both, you can only feel it on the limit like for instance on the track where the SS shines and definitely wins it from the PS4S. And that’s exactly what Michelins aim was, making the PS4S more allround.
@@jandepandaman3113 I disagree, the PS4S and PSS have VERY similar peak grip, the PSS definitely does not feel better than PS4S at the limit, if anything I like the PS4S more (it does heat up a lot and you have to start at pretty low cold temps). In the end though, neither are great track tires

Point is the computer makes it nearly impossible. Probably takes 10 takes to get a simple 🍩 that anyone could make easily in any other car. Computer restrictions and torque restrictions are a real pain in the arse with this car.
matty porsche It’s more of an ode to GM for making the car well enough to prevent you from breaking it easily. However it still stands that they added alternative methods (aforementioned) to the vehicle to allow hooning around if you know how to enable it. It’s just a new way of having the same old fun.
I have a few dash buttons in my TT somewhat challenging until I practiced using them just by memorizing the particular order they run relative to one another & once able to do so makes visual a non necessary essential.
The base Stingray comes with ALL-Season tires. The Z51 comes with SUMMER only tires. Track Day requires: alignment changes, brake fluid change, adding 2 qts to the transmission, and tire PSI change. See Track Prep Guide.
I know everyone loves a big burn out with lots of smoke, but you have to remember that engineers went through a lot of trouble to get the car not to spin. In racing, spinning isn’t winning.
If you do a track day again, see your mechanic about tuning the suspension for track day. That's one thing I've heard from Motor Trend when they tested it! The car is set to understeer! Hope it helps! Hopefully I can get mine later this year! Take care!
Good job. As far as the buttons on the console, perhaps set to your personal preference before pulling out of the driveway so you do not have to take your eyes off the road. Great point with the tires ( that’s a shame chev cut cost on them) WHAT!! No burnouts or donuts ( what a huge let down ) not to mention the Warning notifications take a few hours to reset, On Star notification get it to the nearest dealer. Agreed...with the speedometer/odometer, track mode panel should switch with a blink of an eye to slow. I guess your going to have to live with the phone charger🤷🏼♂️. Overall you give your viewers some great viewpoints on what Chevy could’ve done better. Made a good point in regards to the Z06 and 2021 model may be cured of these imperfections. I still can’t get over the tires, burnouts and donuts. Geesh Maybe, Chevy will move some of the console controls to the flatscreen. I see the passenger resetting the controls once they grab on after takeoff. Once again, good job Tj👊🏼✌🏼
Cascade of buttons feature differentiated tactile feedback for adjustment. muscle memory will take over and you won't need to look at adjustments after a while. Plus, every adjustment available there can also be done from the main user screen.
Just curious if you held the traction control button down to fully disengage the traction control & stability control before you tried the burnouts/donuts?
It was so hard to come up with things to not like about this car that T.J. literally just made something up about the tires that wasn’t even true. The C8 is just simply a beast of a car. Nearly perfect in every way.
Thanks for really useful Video and i like your presentation, hard to find nowadays someone that will speak about downside of car or anything mostly if downside is they put some minor unimportant things. You go to the point THANKS
5:05 that’s, funny, Emilia was doing donuts at the dealership when she took delivery of it ...in limp mode 🤨 Maybe you and Stradman just don’t know how to drive🤔
@@eduardorivera1943 They're entertaining, can still learn some stuff from them if you don't own the cars yourself(features, UI, etc). However, ya, most of the big vlog-style car youtubers can't drive very well. Who really watches them for their driving? They're more like the showmen, cars-as-gadgets/expensive toys kinda guys. Wheels, wraps, wings and just throwing money around in general... the flashy bits are why people watch them. They usually don't know anything too deep about the car(s) mechanically or as drivers, but they're a fun video brochure for the cars and stuff they throw on them. For instance, I don't know any car guys that've watched these youtube videos of people struggling to do burnouts or donuts in this example and not just kinda ignored it, because they understand most of the YT guys don't know driving very well, they know they could figure it out themselves in a few minutes so they don't put stock into that opinion that the car won't do it. It will. For sure.
I found you only because of the C8 and you being one of the very first to get one. I have watched many others but I like your channel the best by far for C8 content and have come to respect your views on this car a lot. I have a C7 Z06 but am waiting to replace it with a C8 if and when they ever come out. I very much agree they gotta do something about fixing the ability to do a burn out in this car.
I love the video. I think that your were right on par. I know you reach d a bit but job well done. I don't normally post on videos but I think this was a fair review.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Which some of those dislikes I would feel the same way. I was wondering why there was no line lock on this car. The Camaro ZL1 has it. The tire coming apart is the first I've seen that. One thing I read was B4 you track the car your supposed to add 2 quarts in transmission. The way things are going I'll probably end up with a 2021. Enjoy all you content and all the items your making for this car!
To avoid tire delamination, check your owners manual for track use. Historically Corvette's have sections within the owner's manual recommending you camber in the front tires to avoid these issues.
Before tracking the car did you align it? It has a specific track alignment. Supposed to make a big difference, might save your tires. If I had check engine lights and a text telling me to take it in. I would take it in.
I haven't driven a C8 so take my opinion in that context but I suspect that most people that by the C8 as a daily driver and not as a tool to create content for a UA-cam channel will struggle less with these issues. Great review tho, I'm still lusting after the C8 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
TJ, I just seen where you Push the Traction button 2 times, So you can do a Burn Out Right, and it turns the Computer off for you.., It's got dif. Modes in there also..
Would be nice to note if you followed the GM track prep guidelines or not... Changing suspensions and tire pressures to what GM spent a ton of money to develop for best performance. That will make a big difference in how the tires perform and the tire wear you discussed. As well as part of the prep is changing the brake fluid to track fluid is very important and could have been the cause of your ABS light.
@JT Hunt I am a Chevrolet Corvette Salesperson and you had the option for three different tires someone who built it for you selected all weather tires but you could’ve chosen summer tires which would’ve been better tires
Any tire is going to have rubber transfer across the surface when pushed hard on a warm day at the track, and that goes for the Cup Sport 2’s I use on my GT4, as well as Trofeo R’s, NT01’s, Hoosier R7’s, etc. The tires are not “delaminating”. Super Sport 4S’s are the best performance street tire on the market
Constructive criticism. Get in. Put in phone. charge it. Then when your DONE driving. Use it after its charged or whenever you get to your destination. I was hit by a driver using thier phone. Love the channel.
Dude the PS4S replaced the Supersports, it's their flagship summer tire. The sport cup 2 are better grip, but are considered track tires. Ps4s are some of the best street tires on the market... But thats all they are, street tires meant for spirited daily driving, not crazy track days.
I don't really see a problem with the position of the phone charger considering you're not supposed to use your phone while driving. Jump in the car put it in the charger, when you leave take it out.
reason #6, no manual trans. it's not about shifting faster or "having more control" either that so many tout. it's about the drama! being able to take your foot off the brake with the car out of gear and not moving forward. rolling backwards on a hill and scaring the vehicle behind you a little. perfectly hitting that heel-toe downshift (or not). missing a gear. burnouts, chirping the tires from a red light... hell just playing with the damn shifter. all of this is lost when you move to an auto/dct, and most of it is not replaceable.
That car is sick and if that’s the biggest issues with it, dayum. I think you said you did 50 laps on that track day which is ALOT. Track days I’ve had is like 30 tops. Not surprised that stuff happened to the tires and computer. If I had the money I would buy that car over anything else on the road right now.
Like a slight loading or a studder phasing into existence between screen modes ...i can see how that vs a more instantaneous and posative flash between them or at least smoother transitions like dimming to full bright if it did need a sec to load. There iS a little like sorta ol' dial up net vibe to it tho 🤷♂️. Sigh, computers. Not too big a deal though with how quick electronics can be it does seem odd tho.
It probably has something to do with the fact that it is not only switching a digital display it is also switching all sorts of components into different modes.
1phone thing is so you don't use it while driving 2 I read Chevy recommends adding dct fluid before track use so you don't get the check engine light 3 I've seen a ton of people do donuts in them Stradman and Wraplife to name a few 4 if you don't like the tires change them? And 5 I feel like it might take some more time but you'll probably get used to the buttons and not really have to look at them to change them however I don't own the car so I have no idea if it's something easy to get used to😂
If the cars goes safety after trying a donut and won't do a burn out it means the gearbox isn't strong enough, hence a safety override is in the ECU map to stop damage and potential warranty replacements. Think Mitsubishi Evo gearboxes brand new and exploding trying to donut equaled expensive for Mitsubishi under warranty.
TJ.... I appreciate all the points you made in this video... but now I’m stuck... should I keep.. moving... forward..... or naw? Your outro believe it or not, should NEVER be left out lol. The positive ending to the first vid of yours I watched is a big part of why I subscribed... call me crazy! But the video ended on a negative note... so for future covid inspired “views type” videos... leave us with that TJ happy note at the end.
If you service the DCT to the track fill level as per the performance supplement manual that will probably take care of the faults you were seeing while attempting donuts.
The all season tires might be due to insurance purposes. That's how it works in Canada. Not sure in the US. Once purchased we can change to Ultra summer tires.
I have the super sports on my 2019 c7 and i can see why they changed them. Its for safety.. under 25* celsius if you dont warm them up they are really dangerous and thats why alot of guys crash their vettes
There is a burn out mode to do a burn out: I believe you pull back both paddles and hold the break at the same time to activated burnout mode to smoke the tires

However it still stands that they added alternative methods (aforementioned) to the vehicle to allow hooning around if you know how to enable it. It’s just a new way of having the same old fun.
You can't turn off Stab and trac by pressing and holding the traction control button anymore?
I have a few dash buttons in my TT somewhat challenging until I practiced using them just by memorizing the particular order they run relative to one another & once able to do so makes visual a non necessary essential.
prob didnt add the 2 qts dct fluid before track use like you were supposed to
Arent the AC controls available in the infotainment system too except the seat ventilation?
How did you get All Seasons on your Z51 car? All Seasons aren't offered on the Z51, only the base car. Z51 is summer only tires.
I caught that too. Wondering
He doesn't know what he is talking about
@@westmowgli look at the tires. he didnt get all-seasons, he's just wrong. he got the ps4s, which is a summer tire
Hes an idiot they are not all season tires.
Same way the computer doing everything for you is not you driving the car
If you do a track day again, see your mechanic about tuning the suspension for track day.
That's one thing I've heard from Motor Trend when they tested it! The car is set to understeer! Hope it helps!
Hopefully I can get mine later this year!
Take care!
The PS4S replaced the Super Sports. A special run was made for your Supra but that change was made last year.
Great Wall of Button needs a design re-do.
Keep up the hard work my boy🤙🏽 I’m working on my own e90 build, nothing crazy but you’re a inspiration
Craig Benedict e99 was my first car, I’ll miss that car forever 🥺
e90! what's the gram
e90 gang
selling my '11 e90 335i m sport special edish. wanna get my evo back on the road 🥰
Emmanuel Torres my insta is @Craigbenedict21 bro 🤙🏽
Did I read somewhere that the top speed in the z51 is about 15 mph slower than standard trim, due to the great down force it generates?
Next video: Top 5 reasons why I love my Corvette C8🔥
Did you change your alignment to track alignment before driving on the track?
You gotta top off the trans fluid for the check engine light when doin donuts
Love the "stretch" to find five bad things... I'm still getting one! Ha, ha... keep it up.
Cascade of buttons feature differentiated tactile feedback for adjustment. muscle memory will take over and you won't need to look at adjustments after a while. Plus, every adjustment available there can also be done from the main user screen.
The side quarter window gets me every time
Just curious if you held the traction control button down to fully disengage the traction control & stability control before you tried the burnouts/donuts?
It was so hard to come up with things to not like about this car that T.J. literally just made something up about the tires that wasn’t even true.
The C8 is just simply a beast of a car. Nearly perfect in every way.
mpgxsvcd well, did you look at the condition of those tires ? After just one trackday ?
@@CCDVIDEO 30 minutes of hard track use will destroy any tire.
Thanks for really useful Video and i like your presentation, hard to find nowadays someone that will speak about downside of car or anything mostly if downside is they put some minor unimportant things. You go to the point THANKS
Does the GM recommended 2 additional quarts of trans fluid prevent the check engine light issue?
This was right on TJ! 👏All those things apply and are lowering the score from a 10 to a 9.9😀
5:05 that’s, funny, Emilia was doing donuts at the dealership when she took delivery of it ...in limp mode 🤨
Maybe you and Stradman just don’t know how to drive🤔
Wolfgang Puff then why you watching him
@@eduardorivera1943 who would watch a daily vlogger if they cant drive, thats just crazy
It will. For sure.
stradman was doing some serious donuts in it though
🤣
I found you only because of the C8 and you being one of the very first to get one. I have watched many others but I like your channel the best by far for C8 content and have come to respect your views on this car a lot. I have a C7 Z06 but am waiting to replace it with a C8 if and when they ever come out. I very much agree they gotta do something about fixing the ability to do a burn out in this car.
I feel like a lot of European supercars freak out when you try to do burnouts and donuts too
5:07 burn out solution: put something heavy in the front trunk so that front Tyres hold ground, a 50 kg will do.
Dude even JAMES the Stradman can do burnouts and doughnuts in the C8 🤣
Andrew Taylor yeah but he had to do it on loose sand so also doesn’t really count
I love the video. I think that your were right on par. I know you reach d a bit but job well done. I don't normally post on videos but I think this was a fair review.
Love the car, but take that magnaflow exuast off and use the one Street speed 717 used
Javan Cook tj is in California and they are super douchie about exhaust laws and how loud they can be regardless of if they pass emissions
Not crazy about 717 set up. At start up it sounds like a truck. Needs a cam.
KEEP UP THE HARD WORK TEEJ I LOVE THE CONTENT CANT WAIT TO SEE THIS CAR IN PERSON LOVE FROM RIVERSIDE 💜
Kevin41043 IM TRYING KEVIN THANK YOU
To avoid tire delamination, check your owners manual for track use. Historically Corvette's have sections within the owner's manual recommending you camber in the front tires to avoid these issues.
Seems like there’s going to be a lot of electrical issues in 10 years
Nah, just software updates/tunes needed.
Peter Nicholls 10 years? Cars aren’t built to last ten years anymore.
It's like playing a game with the buttons. Keep playing and you'll remember without looking lol
They actually did a burnout its just you
@5:55 i think thats the elctronic clutches in the rear end locking and unlocking to help with grip incase of a spin out or something like that
Most of us adults could really care less if it doesn't do donuts.
Keep it up Tj! Love all your videos and that outro just so chill. Keep yourself and family safe from the virus!
Uhhh I’ve seen many people do dough nuts and burn outs easy . It’s driver mod
If you need to change a setting with the button's, just do it at a stop light😉🧐. Genius idea. Get race tires for the track. Derp
Watch cleetus’s vid to see how to do a burnout
did u put into race mode for your burn outs and donuts?
It’s a Chevy that’s why ur having issues lol
Ah, the usual Chevy hater going to a Chevy video looking for attention.
R.i.p in pieces u mad bro? Chevys are inferior in every way
You probably drive a 92 civic and in your mind it's a Supra RZ...you guys are a dime a dozen.
Can’t wait to see this thing with the widebody. It’s gonna look insane!
You have to hold down the tc button to turn off stabilitrak, which causes the cut during burnouts/donuts.
TJ PLS CONTINUE MAKING AMERICA GREAT AGAIN 🦅 all them bald eagles in that car 😍 minus the early Christmas lights at the track 🙁 still fly af
I agree the wall of buttons should have been incorporated into the touch screen. Also they should have stuck with the 4 stack center exhaust
Dude the PS4S replaced the Supersports, it's their flagship summer tire. The sport cup 2 are better grip, but are considered track tires. Ps4s are some of the best street tires on the market... But thats all they are, street tires meant for spirited daily driving, not crazy track days.
TJ, you get the all season tires on the standard car without the Z51 package. As others said, you are running summer performance tires.
I don't really see a problem with the position of the phone charger considering you're not supposed to use your phone while driving. Jump in the car put it in the charger, when you leave take it out.
Those aren’t all season tires if you have the Z51 package and you didn’t switch them out. The Z51 package comes with summer only tires.
Beautiful color 🎨 on your vette bro
reason #6, no manual trans. it's not about shifting faster or "having more control" either that so many tout. it's about the drama! being able to take your foot off the brake with the car out of gear and not moving forward. rolling backwards on a hill and scaring the vehicle behind you a little. perfectly hitting that heel-toe downshift (or not). missing a gear. burnouts, chirping the tires from a red light... hell just playing with the damn shifter. all of this is lost when you move to an auto/dct, and most of it is not replaceable.
That's why I'm getting the hellcat no burnout issues and I suggest leaseing this car to many electrical problems later.
Please keep healthy Tj and thanks a lot for your awesome videos 🙏
Im cirious what kind of z rated tire do you recommend .. Toyo proxies or khumho ectstas .. Or what ??
Lolll Agree with the burnout and donut comments 😂😂😂😂
Can’t you place it in the phone charger spot -before- you start driving?
Excellent review man👍🏼 im so jelly though lol when you get your z06 can i have that one 😁 SERIOUSLY though awesome vid man thanks for the content during these ruff times and thanks for keeping me SANE!!!!✌🏼👍🏼
For burn out install a line lock on front wheels. It will do the job
