    Obi-Wan hybridized Forms III and IV to compensate for their respective shortcomings: Soresu’s lack of offensive capabilities and Ataru’s lack of defensive ability and limited sustainability

      This isn't really true. Kenobi specialised in form three, while putting in some moves of Si-cho and Ataru to offset his lacking offensive capbalities. He never hybridised.

      he was never a true sith. just a dark jedi. there is kinda a difference. the sith have a whole code and power struictures, while dark jedi gave in to anger but only to access their own goals often still rooted in some empathetic thing like a loved one or some other attachment. a sith assassin is a title hed prolly spit at you for reminding him of.

      @@36inc Maul was a fully anointed Sith Lord though being as he was granted the title of Darth. And after leaving Palpatine he'd have been a Dark Acolyte since he was never associated with The Jedi Order.

      @CatoNovus 15 днів тому

      @@kaimagnus5760 There is one fault here, there is one thing Maul had not done that is required to truly become Sith, similar to how a true Jedi Knight is made. For a Jedi Knight, they must be willing to sacrifice that which they hold dearest. To give up that which they love to serve the Force. Those are the true Jedi Knights, and most in the prequel trilogy did not have that actual status because they did not allow themselves to acquire the attachment to actually feel that. They were knighted by the council, but not anointed as a Knight in and by The Force. The best example of this happening I can give is from Star Wars Rebels, in which he has a vision in The Force and is Knighted by it, having previously being willing to give up everything else to follow the will of The Force itself. He was rewarded not only with Knighthood, but left to look after and protect that which he was willing to let go of. Prequel era Jedi were basically held back by not being allowed to form attachments. It means nothing to give up something you don't have and never get to have.
      Likewise, to become a Sith Lord, you must *murder* that which you love. Not sacrifice or give it up, but to purposefully kill it and bring it to an end. Maul knew only rage because what he loved as a boy was taken from him, and Palpatine did not allow him to love anything. Palpatine himself murdered that which he loved, his entire family. Similarly, Anakin did so to the Jedi Order and Padmé. The knowledge after the fact that you have ended that which you cared for so much feeds the dark side, the guilt and self-hate drowns you in it. This is what Yoda means when he says (paraphrased) "That once you start down this dark path, it will forever control your future."

    It was also Obi-wan who used the same flip move-that Anakin later used on Mustafar-against Darth Maul.

      They really power scaled old Ben well in the Rebels show. It’s a reason why as a Jedi MASTER he survived all his encounters with the empire and the dangers of tatooine/the underworld. Powerful as Maul was he ran into a brick wall of Force Mastery in obi wan, not to mention he already Encountered maul

    If Darth Maul could survive having his spine cut in half, Qui-Gon should not have died from a simple lightsaber jab. Either that, or Qui-Gon was not as strong with the Force as some would have us believe.

      @Ginkgo_leaf_3000 21 день тому +11

      It's darkside survivability, the same reason that Anakin didn't die on Mustafar. Also Mauls a Zabrak, that probably counts for something.

      Remember, this was back before we had multiple people survive a straight thrust kill like is more common nowadays. combined with maul's raw dark side power sustaining his body and his zabrak heritage, the two 'deaths' are as different as, well, light and darkness. Qui-gon's peace. acceptance, and dedicatio. to the will of the light side and his whole hearted embrace of it meant he was willing to die if the Force told him so, and in his mind, losing was the Force's way of saying it was time in hia mind.

    So, a term I’ve been hearing lately, particularly on this channel, has me scratching my head: “force reserves.”
    In video games, I was fine with the idea of a Force meter for the purpose of balancing Force powers. And even in the movies and shows, I understand that a Jedi shouldn’t just be able to perform Force feats 24/7.
    But I find it weird to suggest that they have this “reserve” of Force energy. Wouldn’t it just be their own physical stamina/strength/energy? Like how concentrating intensely on a final exam is exhausting, or how a fierce workout at the gym drains your energy.

    • @greenstrike0467
      @greenstrike0467 20 днів тому

      i think it's more so the same reason why yoda and palatine can move like they do they both might have low physical stamina but both are strong in the force that they can use it instead of their actual energy or just enhance it but because one can still tire the force can't keep someone going for ever

    • @swellyww7725
      @swellyww7725 20 днів тому +1

      The one possible explanation is that force usage is tied with sheer will and imagination and intention.
      So as long as a person can "imagine" pulling their strength from the force, provided they have good enough connection to it - they get all these abilities, but mental resources can also tire out and then you pull less and less aid from the force untill you are exhausted completely.
      Just a theory.

      @JohnnyDominion 21 день тому

      I think he meant when Maul clearly got the advantage by disarming Obi-Wan with a force push do to seeing an opening in his defense. Honestly that was a critical blunder and most Jedi wouldn't have been able to make such a great comeback let alone bisected his opponent like Obi-Wan did.

    • @creedhayman5953
      @creedhayman5953 20 днів тому

      @JohnnyDominion I know but the talk is always how obi Wan was defeated by Maul when he was not. He definitely had the advantage there at the end but his actions caused that advantage to not be utilized and because of that he was defeated. As he clone wars began and went on each time they dueled, Obi Wan was the superior light saber duelist, and he in the end killed Maul. So the discussion should never say Maul defeated him. Maybe it should say he was the better duelist in the first encounter but lost because he was overconfident and prideful.
