Oh my gosh, My Husband and I died laughing when you asked if you could use that metal piece for decorating a cake! My husband and I have been married for 24 years but on our first anniversary, My Husband decided to make a cake and surprise me with it for when I came home from work, and when I got home, he was literally using a caulking tool to decorate the top of the cake with. I nearly fell over laughing!!! Funny thing is it actually worked. It tasted pretty good too … until I bit down on this tiny little hard chunk and it was a piece of dried caulk🤣😂🤣 He swore he washed it before he used it but……..IDK 😂HAHA! You guys always remind us of our younger selves I am super positive and bubbly and happy and I am always telling everybody to choose joy and My Husband is one of those quieter one-liner hilarious guys. We are still each other‘s best friend and still crack each other up after all these years and it is so fun to watch you guys because it brings back memories of ourselves.😁
I loved reading your comment! My husband and I have exactly 24 yrs in as well! He's never baked me a cake but he is a carpenter and I could imagine him doing that same thing! I wish you another wonderful 24 years!
Just for information. I know you love the Lisa Larsson ceramic. She passed away last week at 92 yrs of age. Her pieces will sky rock in price, so be on the look out for anything designed by her. In Japan they are especially into her ceramic and pay over the top for it. Lisa Larsson was active as a designer up to her death and recently started a collaboration with Skultuna in Sweden. Greeting from Sweden.
The jötul is not for waffles or crepes but for what we call rullrån in Sweden and krumkaker in Norway. You roll them after baking and they should be crispy!
From what I understand, Robert Maxwell only worked with Pottery Craft for about four months before there was a falling out and they parted ways. That “style” is attributed to Maxwell, but not necessarily his work. BUT, you know could tell you for sure? George the Antique Nomad! He talked about this story in one of his recent videos 😊
Hi Laura, I love to thrift and I love watching you thrift! I live in central PA, and when I was growing up, my mom’s friend who lived across the hill from us owned a concrete lawn ornament shop. She purchased the concrete molded pieces from a supplier somewhere and then painted and sold them. I worked for her from age 12 til 19 (1986-1993ish) painting the lawn ornaments. I literally walked over that hill between us each summer weekday to paint, and my memories of that time are priceless. I painted so many deer as well as many other animals, fishing boys, gnomes, etc. Now when I see the concrete lawn deer out in the “wild,” I always wonder whether or not I painted them. Hope you enjoy yours…your vision for your wooded area sounds amazing! 😊
A sewing needle is stronger than you think and leaves no hole in your wall. Perfect for those baskets and wooden plates. I use them for hanging small to medium size paintings.😊
Swede here, close relative to Norwegians. So the "crepe iron" is actually a wafer iron. You use them to make wafer cookies or ice cream cones. I'm not sure if a crepe batter would be too watery to be contained inside it, so I would be careful when trying it!
You scored a Krumkake iron! - pronounced ( croom caca) by my Norwegian Grandmother-it makes a beautiful delicate pastry that you use a wooden shaper that you wrap the thin pastry around to create a cone shape…then just before serving you fill it with sweetened whip cream. Very special Norwegian dessert! She made them for family events. Actually pretty labor intensive! I came to realize that when I started making them. I had the opportunity to serve them to her in her later years and have her beautiful iron of the same brand you found 😉 along with a couple others I’ve picked up an over the years. They do sell well!!
I love how interested you guys are in doing research and then passing it along to your viewers. For me to enjoy a thrifting channel its not enough if the presenters can only acknowledge the beauty of an object and not much more.
I live in Hot Springs, AR and as soon as I saw that signature on the green vase I was screaming DRYDEN! It was cool to see a piece of our history all the way across the country!
The artwork of the man with glasses is so 80's it looks like it should have been a Duran Duran album cover!😂 And Jesse calling it Max Headroom! 😅 That show was so cool and edgy for it's time! What a blast from my past! I do so miss the 80's!
You might find that thick straight sewing needles hammered into the wall would work better than nails, especially for your baskets. They are strong and don't leave as large a hole. . Love your videos, and the added info of online comps is informative, too. Thanks much!
I was binge watching your older videos and my notification informed me that you just posted a new one so excited to watch it. I watch a lot of Thrifting UA-camrs and I have three that are my absolute favorite. I cannot pick any one of the three that I like more than the other. You are one of them. I always look forward to your new videos and while I’m waiting for you to post them, I’ve binge watch all your old ones. I especially love when Jesse is with you. You guys are great.
@@wendydunn3964 Hudson Vintage. She is a vintage jewelry expert. Lavender Clothesline . She is just amazing . Oops! I should have said 4 faves because I also love The Homeschooling Picker and Part Time Picker combo videos. I love these 4 channels and watch every new video they put out and when I have time binge watch their older videos. Your mauve portrait guy -- is he watching the solar eclipse?? lol Love all your beautiful finds, especially the jewelry, the VietNamese teapot and the Capri blue bowl. I am a big fan of blue treasures.
I have been down the Google wormhole for Robert Maxwell. Found 5 mushrooms for $7.50 and they were worth $350! I believe George the Antique Nomad said Pottery Craft and Treasure Craft are related through George Maxwell. Ask The Antique Nomad! I think it is what his book he wrote is about.
The round white bottle with the spiral blue stripe and what you called an "infinished mouth, was fired unpside down with the bottle resting on the "unfinished" mouth of the bottle. That is whythere is no unfinished spot or foot on the bottle's base. I worked for years as a potter and to me It is a marvelous ingenious technique. Thanks for sharing!
Such good stuff!! And how wonderful that you got to spend time with that cute Heather😀. She was so kind last summer to give me a ride to the hotel in downtown Portland after we were done shopping with you in Aurora; I was so appreciative of her help. You have good friends❤️. And Jessie is so cute too. Good friends and a good hubby by your side😀.
When I was in Vietnam I seen additional parts of the set with dragonfly dish sets, tea sets. I brought back a small suitcase full of two different designs of the same tea set styles.
That is a Norwegian Krumkake iron. My mom had one just like that when I was growing up. That iron is used on an electric range and it flips over with the hinge. I have the electric version that I use. Great find!
Really good video - thanks so much!! I love learning when you explain some of the artists and/or items. I just returned from Ireland and Scotland and took a purse making class in Edinburgh that was soooo fun and made with Harris tweeds and leather (named Islanders). I was only able to visit 5 thrift stores and one fabric store. The thrift stores had very few linens which was my interest. The man at the fabric store was very nice when I asked to take pictures and told me that his type of store was becoming less available. He had EVERYTHING so it was fun to look around.
You should go for it and use like a bright orange matting. The orange will complement the red the artist used and make the use of white pop. With a classic black frame. Or you push it into another direction and go all white, white matting, white frame. The red will come through more, but will draw the eye in more.
Love the orange red/black frame suggestion. I like finding neat midcentury art. Not very creative with matting but found a great shop that is willing to work with me. So fun.

Hi Laura! So fun to watch you shop the Puget Sound area. My friend Christi and I just went up to South Tacoma Antique Mall this weekend and visited The Rustic Hippo booths based on one of your older videos! The Norwegian krumkake iron, is for making krumkake, You will find recepies on several Norwegian-american immigrant pages, it is like a ice cream cone wafer. You Cook it and while piping hot and soft You rolll it into a cone or a roll, they need to be really thin. Recepie is basically cream, sugar and flour
Hi Laura . You don’t even have to buy new Matt and frame for your pieces . You can spray paint in white the matting and black the frame . I did this for one on my price that was quite large and would have been expensive to re-Matt and reframe . And the spray paint worked perfectly

The pancake press is “Krumkaga” the batter is very thin and is cooked crispy, and rolled around a small slight cone shaped wood dowel.
OMG Cat teapot!!!! When you see something you never thought you needed... but now cant stop thinking about
Pop that max headroom print into a gray matte with a hammered silver frame!
I was thinking a silver frame too!
Throw chiffon into the air. If it floats down it is most likely pure silk.

For the "Max Headroom" art, match the mat to the grahite/gray of the drawing. Keep the white edge inner mat. Frame in black or silver.
