You have to see the movie the (The Wall) to understand the context of this song. He is in a LA hotel room with a groupie three sheets to the wind tearing the room apart. Great reaction.
Just saw Your old Video...l was in a job that I detested. Constant Nightshift. I can get that. Music was My escape. Pink Floyd, Genesis, Were My 2 favourite Bands. Roger Waters Solo Albums are really good. On UA-cam, You can see David Bowie joining David Gilmour, to sing Comfortably Numb. It's from a David Gilmour Concert, at Royal Albert Hall, in London. One Night Only, is Concert Name. Have You heard Atom Heart Mother, by Pink Floyd ? It's fantastic !!!!! Ok, all the best Keep Rockin'. Ronnie MC Nairney AYRSHIRE SCOTLAND
Contrary to prior albums most of this album is sung by Roger Waters. He bring more visceral vocals. David Gilmour is more mellifluous and soothing. In this song a groupie has found her way into Pink's hotel room. What's interesting is the TV in the background that provides the voice for Pink about this intrusion. It was taped by Roger directly off the TV that was broadcasting the daytime soap, "Another World". It covers three episodes from September 24, 25, & 26 which is near the end of the production of the album. It was like catching lightning in a bottle. Here, the repeated reference to Mrs. Bancroft alludes to that famous scene in "The Graduate" where Mrs. Robinson (played by Ann Bancroft) corners Benjamin (played by Dustin Hoffman) in her daughter's bedroom to seduce him. Which she ultimately does. The import being that Pink's unfaithfulness is from over-bearing women preying on male weakness. It isn't his fault. He is a victim. And that's another brick.
I have no statistical knowledge of exactly how much Roger Waters sings on this compared to David Gilmour, but I’d say it’s pretty much shared, Dave’s vocals are found throughout the whole album.
Every time I listen to a Pink Floyd album it's my favourite one.

Really need to watch the movie The Wall, not just for this song but the album in general, as far as context goes.
