I first had rice with cream of mushroom soup about 50 years ago, when I was a 5 yo kid in Taiwan and my dad, who had served with the US Air Force and visited the US, made it on a family beach trip. I loved it, and when we eventually moved to the US and I learned to cook for myself, I tried making the dish many times and could ever get it to the consistency or taste that I remembered, and my dad and I didn't turn out to be close before he died, and I never asked how he made it and he never made it again from what I remember after that beach trip. I'm a pretty competent home cook these days and even went to chef school for a while before dropping out, and it never occurred to me to use COOKED rice and just mix the cream of mushroom soup in. I've finally learned the secret to one of my earliest and fondest food memories, from that family beach trip into Fulong, Taiwan, 50 years ago. Thank you.
I am from Savannah, Georgia. MeMe you remind me so much of my grandmother, literally! We always had Sunday dinner at my grandmother's house, just like you! Wow, England!! It is amazing to me how social media makes the world so small. Thank you for your sweet comment. And thank you for watching. I am sure I would love your accent as well. This dish is one of our family's favorites!!! Give it a try!
Way back in the 70’s I made pork chops, or chicken and rice with mushroom or cream of celery soup, didn’t cook any of it in advance, I just put it in the oven right before we left for church, we were back home in a little over an hour and our dinner was ready to serve. I don’t do many casseroles anymore because I just don’t like the taste of any canned soup, and almost every one of my older recipes calls for canned soup. I do remember those casseroles were always so good, and so easy to make.

My great aunt used to make some of these recipes and never left us her recipes. These taste like my childhood! Women like Meme are the backbone of their families and their communities. My mom cooked her pork chops with just salt & pepper & then would add mushroom soup to the pan she cooked the chops in & scrape up the brown bits. She would add water rather than the milk & then add the mushroom sauce over the rice with the chop on top & home grown vegetables on the side, so yummy😋

Hi Ms Meme! I'm from Atlanta, GA and I recognize a southern sister! I just found your channel and you're so charming and such a pretty kitchen! Did your grandchildren make that colorful platter on the easel? I want to make one with my grandchildren. Also I worry about all the salt that was added to the rice and mushroom soup mixture at the end of mixing. 13:56 The soup has a lot of salt too. I know how I would modify the recipe to be healthier but I just wanted you to be aware for your health. Too much salt causes many health problems such as high blood pressure and heart disease. 🙏❤️

You do so well on the camera & a great cook!!! ❤🥰
Made your rice in the oven today. So easy and so fluffy. I’m making the pork chops and rice later today. I did add sautéed onion and used chicken broth in the rice. Tasted a fork full, yum. Finished the recipe for dinner tonight. It was a hit. So good.
How? Once rice is in pan & water added...do we put top on it? What temperature should the oven be set to? How long is it baked for? Nothing has been said at all about this... :( Thanks if you know and can help....:)
@@vitazgal9933 Yes, you put the top on. Bake at 350 for 1 hour. I was making a lot because of company coming. I used 2 cups of rice, one carton of chicken broth ( the carton held about 4 cups), and ¾ stick of butter. If you are making her pork chop recipe, I also added some sautéed onion to the rice before baking it. I like the flavor of onion in things I make.

Thank you Miss MeMe I pray I can get your cookbooks soon. Sending Blessings from Pennsylvania. 🦋🌞
My mom made this for us as a kid but the ultra lazy way (see below) In the bottom of a casserole dish, add about 2 tablespoons of a neutral oil and spread (for non stick). Pour 1 cup of uncooked white rice evenly on the bottom. Top with a pack of bone in pork chops (raw). Then add one can of cream of mushroom soup on top of pork chops and spread evenly. Fill empty can with water and dump about 1 and a half cans of water on top. Throw it in the oven at 350f for hour and a half until browned on top. Assembly takes no longer than 10 minutes. Obviously if you’d like you can add seasoning or extra rice and soup mix. I think she got the recipe out of a cambells magazine.
My goodness what a beautiful spread. Great presentation….the recipe for pork chops and rice so delicious.. Fond memories of visiting with my Grandmother. Thank you.

Hello, how’re you doing?
Oh my, what a lovely after church dinner. Everything looks perfect. Those eating at your table are blessed beyond measure!!
I am the blessed one!
Did someone NOT go to church in order to prepare the rest of that food, or is it 2:00 in the afternoon by this time😁?
Your pork chops look delicious and what a beautiful buffet you have fixed for Sunday lunch!!
Thank you so much for the video!!
Thanks so much
Oh my I made this this today and it was delicious, thank you for sharing, it’s a keeper in my recipe book
Way to go... thanks for watching!
Mrs. MeMe, I've just started watching your videos, and I just love them. You remind me of my granny. She was always so happy in her kitchen, and she taught me a lot. It's so nice that you allow us into your home to teach an give us smiles. I hope that you have a wonderful week. GOD BLESS!
Thanks so much. Welcome to my kitchen!! God Bless you as well!
Greetings from New Hampshire! I happened upon your UA-cam site recently, and have been enjoying all your videos! I love your down home style cooking, and find you very relaxing to watch. I will definitely utilize some of your recipes. I admire your family values and the fact that you work so hard at what you love to create memories for your lucky family. You also, by the way, are a classy dresser, and always so very put together, and cheerful! Best of all, when you conclude with "shine for Jesus", it makes me smile. Bless your heart!
Love this!! I make my pork chops and rice just like this! Such a good and easy recipe! Thank you for sharing your recipe and your faith❤
My dear sister! I just stumbled across your channel and I just love watching you. My husband and I evangelize but when we are home, I would love to be able to cook big meals on Sunday. My question for you is how in the world do you get that many things cooked for Sunday dinner wow that was a wonderful meal with lotta sides. I think you should do a video teaching us how to cook that many dishes and organize it and still get to go to church on Sunday morning and Sunday night, God bless you my sister enjoy you so much and yes, let’s shine for Jesus

Ok that’s on my list of MeMe recipes to prepare. I’m always trying to find something that I can prepare and bake while in church. 3 hours is perfect. By the way, you look so beautiful 😍🥰 Be blessed!
Thank you so much!
Hello, how’re you doing?
Hi Ms. MeMe. I am so thrilled that I happened upon your channel. I love baked pork chops, and I love rice. I am so eager to make your recipe. It looks so delicious!!! I have never baked the rice and pork chops together before, but it makse so much sense to do so. Thank you so much for showing us the way that it's done. Bon appetit😊
Welcome to my kitchen!!
Great recipe, only thing I do any different, I use Pork Tenderloin instead of bones-in chops. I also add an extra can of mushroom soup spread lightly over the pork again. Always a winner meal. Thanks for sharing! God Bless!
Made this dish Sunday for my husband and family. It was so delicious and easy to put together. I recently found you on UA-cam and now I watch you every morning. You remind me of my Aunt Florence who always cooked big for her family. 💜
Oh we ALWAYS had “church meat” right after Sunday church!! ☺️ Basically a beef roast, some potatoes, corn & rice with beef gravy on top!! Ohio here & people up here act strange when I say we put gravy on the rice (not sugar)! My grandpa was originally from Charleston SC so I love to say we are Southern!! You do so well on the camera & a great cook!!! ❤🥰
Gravy ALL the way. : ) You are Southern!! thanks for watching!
Oh my goodness, that's what I call a proper Sunday Supper. 😂❤ It's a pleasure to be cooking with you, Ms. Meme and Ms. Gayleen
@@jeffiebennett7134 🥰 ....Excited...ALL my questions got answered.... As I read...I was...'yes....yes...' I'm going to do that(chicken broth...onion)....You're the BEST..... I'm smiling...and so looking forward to making this...Thanks again...both MeMe....❤...of course.... and you.... Cheers !
Thank you Shine for Jesus ❤☕️🍁🍂🙌
You remind me so much of my mom and grandma! Right down to the pear salad 😊. I have many fond memories of Sunday lunch because of them. I lear to make pork chops this way from them, and rice was always a staple in our household. I’m definitely going to try this recipe out this weekend!
Aren't memories the best!!
I want to come for Sunday lunch! My grandmother would cook just like this on Sundays, and I have wonderful memories of childhood. Three families gathered every Sunday and what a spread we enjoyed. Life happens at the table! I’m so grateful to have your cookbook, MeMe! ❤️🙏❤️
Hope you enjoy it!!
Oh my what a spread!! Your chops and rice looks amazing!!
My Goodness! I made this tonight for My Wife and I. We are empty nesters so I did 1 and half cups of rice and 3 pork chops. Cooked the rice in the oven like She said! Delicious!! Thank You MeMe!
Hope you enjoy
Love it - I grew up in N. VA as a kid and yes MeMe reminds me of my grandmother & mother and the Sunday lunch spread…..recipe looks amazing!☺️
Persons like this are the kind heart and soul of America! This is what makes America the country that it is: strong and 🇺🇸 great! God Bless her, and her family! Thomas!

Those pork chops look outstanding
God Bless you my Sister! I wish you were in Washington State! Oh I could smell those pork chops with the steam rolling off! Yummy!
Thanks so much!!🙂😋 Thanks for watching and please subscribe.
I wish I had family like you. What a spread!
❤️
Me too!
I like to bake my rice in the oven too, it comes out perfect every time.
My goodness what a beautiful spread. Great presentation….the recipe for pork chops and rice so delicious.. Fond memories of visiting with my Grandmother. Thank you.
Thank you so much!
Hello from our farm in New Hampshire! Its a rainy day here. Your channel was a bright spot! Thank you for cooking the way my gram did. And my mom would fix pot roast before church. It was ready when we came home. The kitchen smelled amazing! I look forward to following your channel ~ Diane

Yep, I'm hooked a new fan and new subscriber =) New fan from Southern California...THANK YOU kindly! 🌼
wow... California!! Thank you for your kind words and thank you for subscribing! Welcome to my kitchen.
I would think 3 hrs would be way too long. I would only bake for 1 hr.
This is awesome! I haven’t seen a gathering like this in years. I miss my great grandmother so much, she was the one who brought everyone together.
We gather every Sunday after church. 😍
This is the first video of yours that I've watched and I subscribed immediately! You put on quite a spread, MeMe! Did you make all of that?! I bet your house smells so good when you get home from church. You definitely remind me of my grandmother...she loves to cook for her family and the food is always abundant and delicious!❤
I am repeating myself, but you are such a treasure MeMe. I hope you never tire of sharing recipes and your love for Jesus with us. xoxo
Wow, thank you🙂❤️🙏🏻

Oh Meme. This just warmed my heart!! What a beautiful Sunday lunch you and your family are having. Have a blessed day. Just discovered you and you have really inspired me.
Welcome to my kitchen!!
Oh my! I haven’t sat down to a Sunday meal like that since I was in High School! Sadly, if I were there I’d only be able to have a tiny taste of everything before I got full up! Still, I wouldn’t mind trying!! ❤
That Meal Looks Amazing, Reminds me of my Great Grandma Mamie Kelly's Meals. Cooked with Love. Be Blessed and Thank You for Sharing
Hope you enjoy!!
OMG, what a delicious looking lunch/feast!
Every Sunday! : )
She is great for teaching young women how to cook for their families because what she does is not complicated with all the crazy special ingredients that so many new recipes require.
So true!😋🙂❤️👍🏻
What a beautiful dish and Sunday lunch! I’m going to try this for sure. ❤
Lisa, watch "12 US foods banned in other countries"

What a beautiful dress! It looks so pretty on you! This pork chop dish will sure go over well for my family! I’m always looking for a new way to make pork chops. Thanks for the recipe. God bless.
Sherry, do you approve of forcing pigs into gas chambers before they are hung upside down by their back legs to have their throats slashed open while still alive ?
It's so good!
I just found your channel and am so glad I did! I miss my Grandma's Sunday dinner. She could put on a spread, just like you. May God continue to bless you.
Thank you and thanks for watching!!
