My favorite sub of all time. The dial is beautiful. I bought mine in 2015 and apparently the earlier models of this reference had a sandblast-type finish on the inner clasp where it says Rolex. By any chance do you know when Rolex changed to a polished finish on the inner clasp?

MSRP is still USD 9050.00. I have seen them going for upwards of 12000.00 online. I doubt that is what the average Joe would get but it looks like a great investment for anyone who can purchase a new watch at MSRP.

The two I have it narrowed down to are the Datejust 126300 with blue dial you recently reviewed, and the other is the Hulk 116610LV. Since you own both of these extraordinary pieces I'd like to get your thoughts on which you'd prefer if it were your first Rolex. I realize the Hulk is in high demand and carries a higher price but I am not as concerned about that. Thank you and keep up the great work on the reviews!
It really depends on which style appeals to you. From a quality perspective, they're equally good. Would you wear this daily? Casually or with a suit? I think the DJ is more versatile, but the Hulk is maybe more fun. If there's a way, you should really try each on and see how you feel about them.
Generally speaking I would wear it daily, and my line of work does not require me to wear a suit. Business casual is primarily my weekday attire. I agree that I think the Hulk may be more fun. I don't dive, but have another dive watch with a unidirectional bezel that I find so great for timing food, work tasks, etc. I think you may be right that the DJ would be more versatile with a blue dial, but I also think the Hulk would be more "hands on" and to me seems a bit more rugged for outdoor use. had the same decision to face... and went for the hulk. was a mistake. the watch is too heavy. too much in ur face. and too green. but the reason i went for the hulk is because i only had to wait 2 month. and because i realized i want the 36mm that will come out soon with the 72 hour reserve. and although the jubilee bracelet looks much better on the 41mm the 36 mm has a big advtange, that you can wear it better. its a tiny bit lighter, less in ur face. and u could put it on black alligator and wear it as a dress watch. for me its important because if i want to work i cant scratch my laptop. dont be mistaken hulk is purely a sport watch. u cant wear it with a suit unless you have no manners... but then again - maybe only in europe in high society peeople would care. but in my opinion its nicer to have a dressier watch than a sportier at all times. this is just me. u sound like me a lot. so i would stronlgy suggest to go witht he 41 mm with fluited bezel (beleive me 2k for a watch that will last you a life time is nothing.... its like choosing a wife) if you dont wanna wait for the 36mm to come out... which should have a nicer design of the case and of the dial. in blue or dark rhodhium. and then once you have the cash get the submariner. i really think datejust is a better option if u will wear it daily. however i think sub is a much better looking watch (the hands etc ... althought the jubilee bracelt is nice and the fluited bezel as well)... for me in one year i will see if i still wanna get the datjust as my dress watch or the cellini date. however having said that if you are like me a very sporty person that moves around a lot maybe hulk is the better watch cuz the bezel is very robust and there is nothing to scratch ... and who knows if they will stop producing the hulk so u better get it now. hulk beside being on a heavy side is perfect. datejust 41 is too big. 36 is perfect. but somehow even with 5 mm differnce they wear almost the same. the reaosen i say its too big is because 41 looks stupid on leather and 36 looks alrightish. if u will hit the sauna and wet sauna go with the hulk. but getting hulk is harder ... so if u dont wanna wait go DJ... however i must say that the guy who wrote ( the channel guy) that they are both quality ... i have to disagree, the hulk is by far better quality than the datejust ... u can feel the heft ... the details like the second hand having more details .. the ceramic bezel the little perl or whatever it is at 12 ocklock the glide lock that can fit ur waist perfectly... so if u are a real watch freak like me go with the hulk. i hope this will help and i my personal exprience and opinion was a enough for u to decicde on whtat to focus while making ur own dceicion
The 116610LV aka Hulk is not 50th anniversary edition. The 16610LV aka Kermit is the 50th anniversary. It is not called a sunburst green dial. it's just a green dial. If you want to go old school when the 116610LV came out in 2010 until 2011, Rolex called it green gold dial, but removed "gold" in 2012. So let's just say it's green metallic.
eveyrthing you said is true. i dont undertand why people always talk shit... whether or not it is a sunburst dial ... i donno .. because sunburst is not an official thing ...the guy in video also didnt say its a sunburst dial as part of the name dear han wagu... he just said its a sunburst dial. however the sunburst is when they polish the dial with a machine ... the hulk is just a color that changes its lighiting a bit ... is not a sunburst dial. but many people call it sunburst for some raeson.
