Thanks and yes, they all seem pretty good. The only one I’ve had a problem with (video to follow) is the sprocket guard, for which you need to use one of the spacers and one stock bolt and not follow the instructions. Video on that to come. They all seem very well made and solid though. I’d expect nothing less!

@@neilshelley1810 I have a R1250GS Rallye, and yes, it also doesn’t get out on the trails much! I have done a weekend at the BMW off road skills centre, on their bikes with knobblies, and it’s amazing just how capable they are off road. Though easier if it’s someone else’s bike and you don’t have to pay for any damage 🤣
FYI...There is enough room to disconnect the electric connector without removing the seat etc. It pulls through just enough. Cheers buddy, informative video
Hey Andre I realize it's a bit late to be making this comment but I just installed the same tail tidy on my Rally. To cover that wiring hole that's left up inside fender I cut an appropriate size rectangle of old tire tube. I cut holes in it for bolts and a short slit for wire to go through. I sandwiched it in between tali tidy and fender. I was going to put it on top of hole were the connectors are but it worked better sandwiched in between. I'm sure you came up with a better solution but I wanted to pass this along regardless.

I guess there’s still a wait for CRF300’s and as long as there is, new owners keep trickling through. As for me, I ended up just using some silicone, applied from the inside with some tape on the outside to stop it oozing out. It works, and is water and dust proof, but is not as elegant as your solution. Thanks!
Thanks, Andre. This is exactly the video I’ve been looking for. I put a deposit down on the CRF300L Rally today at my local Honda dealer here in Dallas, TX. The bikes are supposed to be arriving here next month. The parts department personnel here are completely unaware of H2C parts. Looks like I’ll have to order these H2C parts from Thailand. An interesting side note: checking Honda specifications, I discovered that the XR650L dual-sport is only 13 pounds heavier than the new CRF300L Rally. Just something to consider. I know that the new CRF300L is a much more sophisticated bike than the old XR650L, but, the power to weight ratio would be interesting to see. Happy Trails
Hi Allen, next month will be here before you know it. I hope it does what you need. I’m just back from 5hrs of trail and road riding. Mostly rocky and dusty trails and the power seemed fine. No crazy steep climbs, but lots of 2nd and 3rd gear ‘thumping’. It was great fun. I’ve not ridden the XR650, but I did a few weeks on a DR650 in Bolivia a few years ago and it feels similar.
Make sure you seal off the hole under the seat. I put tape on mine and it keeps out the worst of it, but there is a bit of dust under the seat so I was thinking of putting some silicone sealant round the hole to make it completely air and water tight.

I think they are on a shelf in the garage, or I sold them to someone who asked that question. I'm still in Colombia but will check when I get home. For the exhaust, do you mean protect from drops? If so, I don't. I do have an Enduristan Inferno heat shield on it which I guess might provide some protection for the exhaust, but it's mostly for protecting my soft luggage from the heat of the exhaust.

Not sure it’ll take side bags. I put an Enduristan Tornado 2 dry bag on mine strapped down with Rok straps. I’m not sure what other luggage there is that is official… I think Honda would like you to buy a transalp or AT for that!

Great video. Do you know if the rear rack mounts are the same as the 250 Rally? There are no parts manufacturers in North America making anything for the 300s yet. If the rear mounts are same fit as 250 Rally, I have more options.
Unfortunately they are different. The 250 has a bolt on subframe and the 300 frame is all new, with a welded subframe. I ordered my H2C rack from Thailand, but now, 2 months since the bikes started arriving, there’s quite a few local choices. If you can get by for a couple of months, I’m sure the US market will sort some out. There’s certainly a lot of interest over there, even though so many people are waiting.
It’s a mix of bikerzbits in Thailand (H2C parts), 24MX (Renthal bars), SW-Motech UK for the risers, luggage direct from Enduristan, hand guards from DirtBikeExpress, Nav mount direct from Garmin and anything else from eBay or Amazon, though I try to go direct when I can.

1. what is the purpose of the two mated brackets? The tidy was about 457 gm before them. 2, any idea if the slots will fit a US plate? I was considering a Flatland Racing tidy but I like the black unit's looks.
I think to give it support and stiffness. Not sure about the slots, I’m away at the moment but can measure up when I’m home (Sunday) and let you know the spacing. UK plates are acrylic and undrilled so you can put the holes wherever you like. I guess that’s not the same in the US?
@@PeakMotorcycles, motorcycle plates are 7” wide x 4” high (178mm x 102mm) in almost every state. Metal, state issued, with two or four slots or holes. Most states have the hole centers 5.75” x 2.75” (146mm x 70mm).

Hi, it came from Bikerzbitz in Thailand. It’s the H2C one and uses the stock plate light. Make sure you plug the cable hole properly though. Silicone sealant is, I think, the way.
Hi Jon, none, but I only had it on for a month or so. It’s powder coated steel and pretty well made so I wouldn’t expect any corrosion unless the powder coat is chipped off. After that one, I tried the Yamoto. No handles but lighter and probably my preference of all the ones I’ve tried so far. I then tried the Rally Raid. Very well made and looks great, but too small for me. Probably fine on an L. I’m now waiting for the Outback Motortek one to be available, as I think it’s the only one that’ll fit with my pannier frames without modification.

Hi Jon, not sure why but this comment was in the UA-cam spam… apologies for the delay in replying. The H2C one is plug and play in that it uses the stock number plate light, so no wiring changes at all. For the Yamoto, unknown I’m afraid as I haven’t tried it. Apologies.
How long did you parts from Thailand take to arrive ? I am waiting on some plastics for my Rally and they seem to be stuck there. I know Thailand are having big problems with Covid.
Some things came in 4-5 days. I also have an order from a few weeks ago which has yet to be despatched (H2C headlight guard). It’s a new year holiday there this week so many things have stopped. Also the CRF300L is proving rather popular worldwide with many people ordering accessories even before they have a delivery date for their bike which is putting a strain on the supply chain.
Don't think it's a good idea replacement, leaving the holes that you fixed with tape to keep the elements out. The must be an proper aftermarket fitment for this.
I don’t think there’s an aftermarket plug for the hole. Since this video, I sealed it with black silicone sealant. So far it’s kept the dust and moisture out.
Good bike platform to build a light adventurer, but are your mods addressing weight reduction. Stock it is around 155 kg so are you wary of ruining the power to weight ratio of the bike?
Hi, yes, very much so which is why I weigh every component I change, and am doing suspension last. I expect that I’m by far the biggest weight factor, and a few kilos here and there with parts won’t make a big difference. Biggest changes I’ve seen so far are changing the bars saves a kilo, a further 3-4 saved on the exhaust, nothing much on the tail tidy and most of the other changes are a little either way. I expect that by the time I’m done, the bike will be slightly lighter than stock, but not a lot in it. Fuel level, and pies consumed will have a much bigger factor for the weight!
@@PeakMotorcycles Good on you, and if you can manage your own weight, even better for your enjoyment of the bike, and your health. You will build a great bike with less than stock weight. The battery and exhaust are two such items that will contribute. Please keep us updated.
@@davidmallia628 I was going to wait and see about the battery. Perhaps run the current one for a year or two and then switch to a Li-Ion when it’s time to replace it. And yes, keeping the weight of everything down is for the best!

10:30 why not a blob of clear silicone to fill the hole? After all the effort and purchase I am not 100% sold on doing the tail section replacement. I dont think the original is really that ugly : )

I’ve been out for 5 hours on it today, mostly road and dry trails with the occasionally muddy bit and my back is not splattered. Does that help?! There’s not much mud coming up over the back with either. This one is smaller. That’s the main difference.

Sounds perfect! Unfortunately I don’t have any scrap aluminium, and buying some for scrap, without the means to cut it makes it somewhat more challenging. Not sure what makes one better than another? Price perhaps, so you’re way ahead on that. The H2C ones are laser cut and have the holes for everything in exactly the right place and it can reuse the existing tail light. You are fortunate to have the means to do that yourself, but not everyone is so fortunate! Ride safe.

The dry weight of my old XL600R is actually lighter. The CRF has electric start, fuel injection and water cooled all adding weight.

Every bike should ship with this in addition to the lame regulatory piece. Jut label it "for off road use only."

Hi Anna, I think it's different for the CRF250L, though there is a lot more choice out there for the 250. This one came from Bikerzbits in Thailand:

They have others for the 250L, but you may also be able to get other options in your country.

@@firstchoicelastchoice28 they seem fine. I’ve had three shipments from them. No problems. The 4th shipment is taking a while, but I think it’s supply problems. Emmet is always quick to respond when I ask for updates.

Do you know if this mudguard works as well as stock?
I’ve been out for 5 hours on it today, mostly road and dry trails with the occasionally muddy bit and my back is not splattered. Does that help?! There’s not much mud coming up over the back with either. This one is smaller. That’s the main difference.

I just made a really simple little bracket from scrap bit of aluminium honestly better than this aftermarket one.
Sounds perfect! Unfortunately I don’t have any scrap aluminium, and buying some for scrap, without the means to cut it makes it somewhat more challenging. Not sure what makes one better than another? Price perhaps, so you’re way ahead on that. The H2C ones are laser cut and have the holes for everything in exactly the right place and it can reuse the existing tail light. You are fortunate to have the means to do that yourself, but not everyone is so fortunate! Ride safe.
Thailand…in SE ASIA they have the lowest English speaking level of all countries, so not surprised they think the rest of the world speaks Thai.
😁. I don’t mind. In Thailand that is perfectly fine. If I order something from Thailand and it’s not in English, then that is also fine. I’m sure if they were exporting, then they’d do a translation.
