- In 2018, Project KULEANA set out with native Hawaiian youth to explore KULEANA through the music, people and history of the places that they call home.
Hilo Hula composed by Joseph Kalima has been a foundational song for every Hawaiian family who claims Hilo as their Hometown. Mahalo a nui loa to the ʻohana Kalima who continue to foster and nurture our community through this mele makamae today.
I love this song so much! My papa Bert Naihe loved it to...He always loved to sing, play, and dance to all kinds of music from hawaii and I hope he's in a better place now. We love you papa! ❤
Keaukaha, my birthplace
Born and raised in Hawaii Hilo. Now that I'm away this song bring me tears and sadness it made me realize how much I missed Hilo so much. The people the land the ocean the mountain just gives you that spiritual feeling how important aloha is! Mahalo Hawaii for everything.
