By the way, on those graphics you could have just gotten some number plate backgrounds. I by them in big rectangular sheets and just cut to fit. It's the best thing to do on vintage bikes.
Haha I did the exact same thing with my 2021 Harley Davidson. Made it look like a 70s Frisco chopper. All the cool factor and none of the headache! Sweet build!
Awesome, I had exactly the same idea to do this to a modern husqvarna giving it a 70s look, yours looks almost the same as the 79 husqvarna 390 look I was going for❤
FYI Cutting vinyl is easy if you use knifeless tape, from 3M for example. Just design your outline with the tape, put your vinyl on top, pull the string of the tape and your vinyl has the perfect shape.
Yep that's insane great transformation all the new style plastics have pointed end that things get caught on and they're flimsy to boot I'd have probably put a piano hinge on that rear guard 😅 so it doesn't just break off if you were to drop the bike. Nice 1 Happy Trails
Recently I just turned my motorcycle into a vintage dirt bike (Honda XR look) too!! It's seems simple on the paper but god its a tough work. But I enjoy all process, and I love my bike ever more! good content!!
It looks 1000% better! Now if you can figure out a nice, thick old-style seat and a metal tank it would be perfect. It already reminds me of an old Husky WR - excellent! With short legs I would love a bike like this with a lower seat height. I realize that would mean less suspension travel, but I’d give up the speed for more confidence in the slow, technical stuff.
Cool build! The sheeps furr seatcover made me think of a old big Enduro bike I saw one year attending the annual Motorcycle trade show. It was parked right by one of the main entrences. I remember it, becouse of the White furr handguard/warmers. The things looked like Yeti hands. ( Background info, The fair is usualy held in February. With freezing temperatures and or a feet of snow/slush on the ground You get a free pass to the fair if you get there by bike, lol ) Thanks for sharing , cool build. YETI handwarmers, to go with the seat next?
Looks great! For years I’ve been trying to decide how to vintage my dirt bike always wanting a 60s look, my ideas went from making new rear sub frames to buying an actual vintage dirt bike and swapping in a modern drivetrain. The 80s look is a great compromise, way less modifying!
One thing you could consider, instead of doing a metal tank, make a metal "shroud" that looks like a vintage tank, but really just covers the actual tank. Or even a fiberglass or plastic one.
Fun, some nice ingenuity here. Came here looking for how to mount VMX fenders to a modern bike. Looking forward to seeing it with a vintage style metal tank, and I hope you do something about that seat 😆 For the vinyl, did you consider knifeless tape designed for car wrap? Not too pricey, easy to use and cuts really nice lines. It's forgiving too since you can pull it back up and relay it if necessary. I guess the razor blades work pretty well too though, and scratches aren't a big deal since it's plastic.
Hey man I really love the video. Just a technical thing. Would you mind turning down the music just a few dB it sometimes is really loud compared to your voice
That black paint on the fork clamps is going to chip off. You need to sand it before painting. I’ve had issues with chipping even with thorough sanding so I can’t see that paint lasting long at all
hey Issac idk if you got the graphics made for the tank but id love to sponser a build and make some decals for you it would be cool to make some decals that match your outfit and maybe your logo if you have one
Although I don’t think the bike turned out personally, I loved the video. Maybe ditch the seat and use an old one or typical cafe one or something. Then the more retro tank and it would look right
Brother, I am just green with jealous rage right now! I havnt thought i needed a dirt bike for awhile, but now.... Shit I need to get on those trails again! Sweet build, but seriously jellies
I bought a XR200, the plan is to repaint it (it's pretty scruffy) in the same factory white, and add stickers inspired by the ones from the 60, CR250 Elsinore, with the black number blobs and the Honda logo with yellow wings
Over here in germany, there is this guy on Ebay Kleinanzeigen, who built an Yamaha xt 350/500. He took an xt 350, and fitted an old silver 500 tank, seat and round headlights on it and I think it looks awesome. I would definitely buy it, the only problem is that it costs 5.500 Euros (5.798 Dollars) and considering that normal 350s with okay miledge and good mantained cost here somewhere around 2.500, it's just to much for me. Maybe also a reason why it's still available since 2022. But definitely a cool concept.
Good job !! Looks like my bikes in the 80's !!! But the saddle whoooooo...hard to see !!! 😂 😂😂 ....too special for me !!!! No thank's..😂😂 And the fur in the mud !!!! 😱?????🤔 Richard from France 👍😎🇫🇷🏁
"it's what I have so I just used that" my kind of build, Great job!
So siiick. You should make this a full time bike channel.
That would be the best idea I think
@@IsaacJohnston more pe and it action!
The saxaphone mimicking a 2 stroke was an incredible intro. Kept me watching
Yeah, “Moanin’” by Charles Mingus is very sick
Glad you noticed man!
@@iacopotuttino5515 Bobby Timmons (composed in 1958), not Mingus. Then performed by Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers.
@@anchinkan yes, but the solo is from Mingus version
@@iacopotuttino5515 Anyway, a very nice tune and the sax part in this video was definitely awesome👍
That sheep skin will not get a little dirty,it will be dirty asf
Jesus Christ?
Isaac is BACK! This was a great watch, and it looks so fun cruising around on that thing
Lol here I am!
Came on yt to see if there were vintage bikes with modern suspension and found your build. Awesome job! Looks the part and rides everything!
By the way, on those graphics you could have just gotten some number plate backgrounds. I by them in big rectangular sheets and just cut to fit. It's the best thing to do on vintage bikes.
The best of both worlds, you made it look easy!
Dude, this is such an awesome build! Definitely want to do this when I get a bike! Thank you for the inspiration!
The 520 lives on! Perhaps my favorite part of the build is you shearing the backside of the seat. Classic!!
Crazy that you used to own it and then I bought it from the person you sold it to. It’s a good bike that one
Your channel reminds me of Trent Palmer. Professional production guy, sharing his hobby with us. I'm subbing.
Trent's the man! I'm glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for the sub
I know this video is fairly old, I've watched it a handful of times. But I just want you to know that is a sick jacket!
heck yeah. i love retrofitting newer dirt bikes! great video
Very good pace, excellent intro and voice over during the doing !! Love lit man
Haha I did the exact same thing with my 2021 Harley Davidson. Made it look like a 70s Frisco chopper. All the cool factor and none of the headache! Sweet build!
Awesome job on the short film and on the bike! Not so many people can make a video this good.
Great idea and result. I must confess I came here for the Ceriani fork and drum brake conversion. Maybe dual shocks on the iterative next build.
Awesome, I had exactly the same idea to do this to a modern husqvarna giving it a 70s look, yours looks almost the same as the 79 husqvarna 390 look I was going for❤
Those Huskies look amazing and were an inspiration for sure.

wow man. great production quality.

Nothing more beautiful than a vintage dirtbike.
Cool build!

dude this is exactly what I want to do I am so excited to watch this video
Nice!!! I've been waiting for this video a long time since you posted the build on IG! Can't wait to see the bike with the metal fuel tank!
You and me both!
Looks great! For years I’ve been trying to decide how to vintage my dirt bike always wanting a 60s look, my ideas went from making new rear sub frames to buying an actual vintage dirt bike and swapping in a modern drivetrain. The 80s look is a great compromise, way less modifying!
Watch out world - another video from Isaac!! Awesome build, awesome video 👍🏼
Haha thanks! Stoked you like it 👏
this has such a classy style to it. Really awesome.
Awesome build brother! Love how you just went for and the end result looks great.
One thing you could consider, instead of doing a metal tank, make a metal "shroud" that looks like a vintage tank, but really just covers the actual tank. Or even a fiberglass or plastic one.
Sick! The metal gas tank would definitely be the cherry on the top maybe some analog gages would look pretty cool too
one of the best motorcycles video i've ever seen, keep making videos like this. plus the video quality is🔥🔥
Muy bien hecho ! Haces que parezca fácil ! Pero es por que tienes muchos talentos ! Felicitaciones
Nice build! This vid has me so stoked for summer
Me too! Can’t wait to ride it more. I basically finished it then the snow hit.
Awesome production. Subscribed!
Such a cool build. I would love to do this but my Drz 400 rolled out of the showroom last year already looking vintage. Lol
exactly! lol Just get a DRZ ; )
Looks nice to me, I believe the stickers should be with a number that will made your bike more retro like round numbers.
Your right vintage bikes look much better, all the new bikes look the same just different colors, nice job, thanks for the video
I love the "paranoïa" involved for the painting ;)
The seats a no for me Dawg
Yeah I feel like it ruined the build.
It’s outrageous
Very original and good idea! Love it

Good job i I love vintage style especial like 80'
Currently building my dream vinduro. This video gave me ideas! Thank you!
I made a parts and tools list you can buy in the description if you want more info. All proceeds go to support the channel. Thanks!
Love that rear fender / taillight.
Thanks for doing this! I have a 10 year 500exc that I dream of doing this to
Absolutely ripper man.
You need to come over and give it a proper ride
I have a 2000 and was trying to see if I can put 2022-24 body on it, but this seems interesting
Great build, great video, great ride!
Such a sick bike! Worth the effort
Yeah I’m super happy with how it turned out!
Nice reminds me of my old 1982 Husky 430WR sweet bike with no brakes lol
Clear and concise thank you
I have to admit when I read the title I thought what a dumb idea. It caught my interest and after watching, it’s pretty dope 👍
In case anyone is wondering, the song he used in the beginning is Moanin' by Charles Mingus.
Lovely video, you've earned a new subscriber!
Thanks!
Excellent job!,
Great Job man!!😮🎉
A vintage looking bikr with modern reliability - dude figured out life
I feel you!
Whoa change in weather, But i dont even like bikes but i am always obsessed with your videos and presentation!
Yep this one took a bit of time to make lol. Thanks for watching

Great job not sure on the seat but it looks good
I may not like it but this is what peak pwrformance looks like

Nice build, subbed 👍🤗
I have a 78 honda xl175 and a 77 rm250! Love them both!
This is so sick, how'd I miss this
HEY! WHERE IS THE REAR VTG FENDER FROM ITS SO SICK! PLEASE LINK ME, GREAT VIDEO :)
I made a parts and tools list you can buy in the description to support the channel. Thanks!
I legitimately cannot wait for Buscadero to make a full size. Surely it's only a matter of time before they work their magic on one of the GPX 250s.
hey Issac idk if you got the graphics made for the tank but id love to sponser a build and make some decals for you it would be cool to make some decals that match your outfit and maybe your logo if you have one
That’s sick
bro gived the bike the bigest glowdown
Modern to vintage, love this
Although I don’t think the bike turned out personally, I loved the video. Maybe ditch the seat and use an old one or typical cafe one or something. Then the more retro tank and it would look right
Time for a road trip!
Soo cool!!! Good job!
Sick lil bike, nice refresh!
Cool build, well done.
Thanks!
I have a 1970 CT90 that I got sick of working on and bought a TDUBS, so a brand new vintage bike, more or less.
Brother, I am just green with jealous rage right now! I havnt thought i needed a dirt bike for awhile, but now.... Shit I need to get on those trails again! Sweet build, but seriously jellies
You should be careful about that rear fender or the number plate melting because the exhaust
I bought a XR200, the plan is to repaint it (it's pretty scruffy) in the same factory white, and add stickers inspired by the ones from the 60, CR250 Elsinore, with the black number blobs and the Honda logo with yellow wings
Great video and great bike
some bars with the classic thin support bar would really change the look
Beta Motor FTW!
Looks rad! Great job man

That’s cool I want to see it!
One question, which city do you live? Would love to ride and drive around this beautiful place
Throw some colored fork gaiters on it and an old school super trapp muffler
hell yeah
you should add a retro fmf silencer to it
Good job !! Looks like my bikes in the 80's !!! But the saddle whoooooo...hard to see !!! 😂 😂😂 ....too special for me !!!! No thank's..😂😂
And the fur in the mud !!!! 😱?????🤔
Richard from France 👍😎🇫🇷🏁
love the old style rear fenders
Hi! Love the build. Do you perhaps have a link for the rear fender, or can you remember what bike it was originally made for?
The rear fender was for an early 80's Husqvarna. I made a parts and tools list you can buy in the description to support the channel. Thanks!
Do UA-cam still know where you have the Plastic kot from?
Loved this
Moanin by Charles Mingus was the best touch 😭😭
Any hope for the second video, where you put a metal tank on, anytime soon??🤞🤞
Im not paling on it but I have some other builds in the works
