You can get this paint from Dollar General also. I did this for years, but with different size nails that I stuck into a wine cork. The nail art styluses work much better, though. When I first started painting, my eyes on. I was using ball jigs, and stick on eyes do not work real well on round jigs.
I've been using dot mandala tools which come in a large variety of sizes for years also I've recently got into using my UV nail polish and drying it under a UV light which works really well because you can dot it dry it then dot it with the next color dry it boom done
Good tutorial, Eric! I use a short piece of wooden dowel about the diameter of a pencil. Both ends are sharpened in a pencil sharpener. Both points are then ground down. One diameter, smaller than the other. These are used to paint like you’ve instructed. If you want an oblong eye with a round pupil, ground down the larger point on an angle.
Looks great Eric! Love the colors. Heard most guys use the flat back side of drill bits. This seems like it would work easier with the rounded ball tools. Thanks for sharing Eric.
Great tips and new ideas. I have also seen small diameter silicone fuel line, like used on weed eater and chain saws. Leaves center ( pupil ) same color as jig head. Or you can put small dot of any color in center. Really enjoy your jigs and watching your tying methods. Keep up the great work.
I have been painting eyes on jigs for years, Keep the plastic tops off your water bottles and put a drop or two of paint in it and use a short piece of tygon string trimmer fuel line which comes in about 4 different sizes dip the end in the paint and just touch your jig and boom you have a perfect eye and like some others have said a tooth pick nipped off to your liking will make a perfect pupil. When done just throw your bottle cap away.
I ordered paint and the dotting tools off Amazon earlier in the week, haven’t had a chance to use them yet. Hope to get in the shop later today to try them out! I like Dennis’ assembly line method; paint it, hang it, move to the next. I bought a small shelf rack to try that, one I can set my UV light on top of to cure them. Fingers crossed for good results!
I’m curious to see if the acrylic paint markers would have the same outcome. Great idea, I’ve made my own 3D eyes with a few different hole punches and UV resin but it take a lot of prep and time to do those. Thanks for the video.
That looks excellent. I've tried doing this with Toothpicks with cut out circles of foam paper glued to the toothpicks. Your system looks easier & very good. Can you bake the jigs with acrylic paint on the heads?
I just use Q-tips. Cut one in half for eye and then whittle other half down to a point and that’s the pupil. Dab paint based on size of eye. I do like your way too.
I followed this technique and found out that the eyes wash off in the water because the acrylic paint is water soluble. It needs to be top coated heavily or you need to use other paint. Have you found this to be true also?
Respectfully, Those look great, but I recommend sealing them off with a lacquer or urethane clear coat or those cheap Walmart water based paints are gonna wash off in under 50 casts....
Instead of doing that in a vise I'd lay them all out in a line on a table or counter and go through and do all one side. Then if it's a long enough line,by the time you're done the beginning will be dry and just flip it over and paint it. If you're doing round heads or another type other than the pill you'll have to use a vise or put them in something to hold them from rolling around.

Just eyeball it... Nailed it!
Have you ever tried using Q-tips I paint my own hard bass lures and I use Q-tips to make the black dots on the side
Toothpicks work good for the small “pupils”. A bamboo skewer works good too. Cut them down to make the dot sizes you want.
Oh my gosh why didn’t I think of this! I have dotting tools in my craft supplies from working with Polymer Clay. Genius idea!
There’s a lot of other things you can use also but the dotting tools are my favorite

Can't wait to put my order in for 1/64, 1/32, 1/16, 1/8, and 1/4oz. Jigs
Thanks for the quick response. I was really more interested in the Brand.

Great way to put eyes on!
NICCCCEEE……. I like this idea, a little time consuming but I like it 😃
I like that sweatshirt too Sir!! 😃
I just use two pencils I shave one down, and lightly shave the second then I got the eyes on paper until I get the perfect set.
Thanks Eric. Awesome !
There is a sale on hackle and bucktail at jstokard
I will definitely chk out those tools. Nice !
I use a a couple different wooden dowels and for the smaller pupils I use the end of a tooth pick.
Looks great Eric! Love the colors. Heard most guys use the flat back side of drill bits. This seems like it would work easier with the rounded ball tools. Thanks for sharing Eric.
I like it, thanks!

Sooooooop glad I found this! Thank you. I’ve also been told once painted you can bake on the acrylic paint to make one tough jig head. True or False
Maybe ….. sometimes it runs…. Air dry then put a top clear coat over
@ Hard as Nails for top coat?
@ try a few check for chemical reaction if it works yes
Do you have suggestions for best place to purchase hackle?
I just purchased some of these tools and they were like $6 or $7 on Amazon

I like those eyes better than the stick on
I been using a paint pen
I really like the video that you painting eyes on your jigs.
I do have a question though where do you get the bottle of brush on UV?
I buy big bottles off Amazon then add it to the little bottles
What kinda vice do you have ?
I’m curious to see if the acrylic paint markers would have the same outcome. Great idea, I’ve made my own 3D eyes with a few different hole punches and UV resin but it take a lot of prep and time to do those. Thanks for the video.
Those even take some time but I was happy with the out come
Seen one video where he used the magnetic tool holder strip from harbor freight to hold multiple jig heads for painting eyes on
Use hair dryer to dry paint quick.
I want to know the name of your vise and where to purchase it.
That looks excellent. I've tried doing this with Toothpicks with cut out circles of foam paper glued to the toothpicks. Your system looks easier & very good. Can you bake the jigs with acrylic paint on the heads?
I use nail polish and I know you can bake it
How well will this work on a round head with no pocket?
That’s a round head no pocket
Eric, what jigs are you using in this video? Thanks so much for the great videos.
Either 1/16 or 1/8 but I do them from 1/100th up 1/4oz
Those are mine just round ball head on #4 eagle claw sickle hook
@@ericmasseyjigco thanks.

That’s peak rotary vice

Eric how long does it take for that paint to dry?
It’s not fast not sure exact time but does take awhile

Yes they get Uv resin coated after eyes are painted on
@@ericmasseyjigco do you paint the UV resin on? Sorry I prob need to go back and fully watch the video. I appreciate the help.
Best Regards, Leland
Yes I brush it on
Looks good. I wonder if before you tie them if you could hang them in a toaster oven to speed up the drying process!
Thoughts!
Maybe I was gonna try that and I’m sure i wll
Match Shaft, toothpick, WD40 straw.

All those all jig heads I do are finished off with Uv resin much better than a urethane clear coat
use sally to seal.
@@keaganstewart3523 not always some times it causes a chemical reaction leading to paint running
