Now that you've given us the "Cliff Notes" version, it would be nice of you to do an expanded class using a big Whiteboard (like Engineering Explained). • @Dan-rg7jj
      @Dan-rg7jj 3 роки тому +1

      Different head bolts and stronger rods bolts from vx ii onwards. The piston slap is due to the press fit rods vs gen 4 full floating. If you rebuild your LS1 with full foaters then the slap goes away mostly. It's an alloy bore and same piston material gen 3 vs 4 so nothing to do with bore or outside of piston itself. There were however instances where early ls1 had to be rebuilt for discrepancies in piston sizes.

      @@Dan-rg7jj yeh new head bolts and cam bearings. The press fit remained until VZ though and those VX onwards didnt seem to be as prone to piston slap. Have never seen different rod bolts across any gen3’s though they have all been the same

    Early ls1 vt ones also had a stronger block as it doesn’t have bay by bay breathing in the bottom of the block and are better for strokers. Later blocks have metal machined out of em. Vz Ls engines in the holden engineering team was known as the ls1.5 due to all the updates, gen4 rods and pcm.

      Hey Mate! Unsure if it would be "legal" or not emissions wise as it will totally depend on what your state regs are. But if you were going something aftermarket I recommend Haltech, it's the most widely supported aftermarket ECU manufacturer in AUS, you would be hard pressed to find a tuner who wouldn't tune one, and their after sales tech support is second to none, both very important accolades for the 4wd built for touring. The Nexus R3 is best suited for a V8 and their most modern base.

      VT LS1’s used early 853 head casting, composite headgaskets and the early LS1 style intake manifold. The really early ones also were renowned for piston slap and ring issues causing them to burn oil.
      VX they went to MLS headgaskets and the better flowing 241 heads, they also changed the intake manifold to the better LS6 style.
      VZ LS1 had updated rods, the same rods found in the gen4 LS’s, they also went to FBW throttle instead of cable using an updated ECU.
