  • In the North of Mali, the Kounta nomads still travel across the desert to reach the salt mines of southern Algeria. For 40 days, they will walk 1500 km to get 6 tonnes of "white gold" from the Taoudenni mines. This great salt journey is called Azalaï. Follow along to see how they make this incredible journey.

    Excellent doc. The narrative dialogue is very effective. I wonder why many of the people are not wearing any kind of foot covering.

    I have nothing but respect for these men that harvest the salt and May Peace be upon them...
    ...Taking a boat ride down the River Niger has been on my bucket list for 50 years....I love Africa !!!

    Impresionant mod de viata si totusi nu isi pierd speranta ,merg mai departe ,nu se opresc . Sunt obisnuiti cu suferinta ,nu au alt mijloc de traire .Sarea pentru ei este numita Aurul Alb . Acesti oameni merita mult respect pentru truda lor .Dumnezeu sa-i ocroteasca si sa-i binecuvanteze .

      @@diiriyetv I have served world governments to protect other's rights to have water and air to breathe, so yes I earned my right to have, the people I protected did not, it was a gift to them for a limited time, until they earn it also

      @@pietrojenkins6901 Ah, I am referring to the treatment of the animals; tying their mouths to prevent them from grazing. Come on, just don’t feed them. Better yet, try it out on themselves first and see how it feels. But, who cares!
