    the point they neglect is the caravans are a local technology; they are sustainable with what they have there. The trucks outperform the caravans, but you need an entire infrastructure for that. Not just gas and oil, many parts; and the tools needed to service them. You switch to trucks for a few generations and you completely lose the ability to use caravans at all and become dependent on someone else

    I have only ever read old books or seen old documentaries about the Tuareg. But holy smokes is this an eye opener. However it only addresses a portion of the wider population. I wonder....

    Mali, Ethopia, Eritrea, Niger, Chad, Libya, West Sahra and Mauritania are the only countries in Africa with real Amazier and berber. Morocco and Algeria consider them selves as arabs and so does Tunisia

    God bless them because I don't understand how they can drink 3 small cups of tea considering tea and sugar dehydrates you quicker making you need water. But I guess they are used to it.
