    Alpen flage, is a direct descendant from Liebermuster Camouflage the last SS camouflage of WW2, works exceptionally well in urban environment

    • @cellanimation
      @cellanimation 7 місяців тому +18

      Not really SS camo, it was designed to replace both splittermuster and all it's offspring, which were distinctly heer patterns. SS always got hold of army uniforms, equipment and camo even to the point they had breast Eagles on their arms and army belt buckles here and there (war is chaotic) but leibermuster was an army development.

      @@cellanimation interesting, check out a book called waffen SS camouflage, you will see leibermuster in there, heer camo was splinter and sumpftarn throughout the entire war, SS had their own version of uniforms with different button spacing on their field grey tunics, 5 for SS and 6 for the army

    • @firstlast-dj5ou

      exactly. but the point is that those two camo were intended to work against night visions. what by the way the swiss does really well.
      so stop thoses tupid tests without mentioning that this czmo was meant to operate quite exclusively in the night. all the swiss army doctrine at that time was to operate in the night to compensate for small size of their army

    • @cellanimation
      @cellanimation 6 місяців тому +1

      @nick7602 we're both wrong. Leibermuster was developed for both forces, I guess as a way to save money and unify the SS and Heer visually.
      I'm aware of the SS felduniform differences, though half the time the SS were rocking army jackets. You often see collar tabs that barely fit onto the tunic, for example. The 6 buttons was for tunics made of mid-late war fabric, which typically fared better with some extra support. Looks a bit nicer IMO too, though the SS did stick to 5 buttons, though again, they rocked heer uniforms due to Germany's absolutely shocking lack of resources and pretty average supply chain to the front.
      At one time I started to make reproduction uniforms but since I live in the most isolated and muggy backward nation on earth, I realised I would never sell a single item. Made a pretty decent m31 gebirgsrucksack and a reichswehr 8 button tunic before giving up lol

    That pattern is not the best feature of this Uniform. It's the fact that it is a load-barring tool too. I made a coat n' trouser combo out of broadcloth, to carry all my needed gear. There are a few flukes to iron out for the next alteration, but it is a nice to have already.

      Not really, black is effective color to break the silhouette. It's also natural! Dark wood/earth/mud/stone... in the shadow on a sunny day is black!
      "Oh but wait as second, that tiny patch of black on the ground is slightly darker than natural, it must be artificial, therefore busted!" -things that never happened.

      @@somedud1140 black is not a natural color. It does not perform well in vegetated environments nor in dead vegetation. It’s primary role on this pattern was to break up patterns under infrared light/vision.

      @@somedud1140 Much depends on the person's color perception.
      I could find him in every shot in about 1/10 of a second, and the Black is a main reason why, it's not a natural black and to me, it really stands out.
      Now, I have a large amount of experience finding people hiding in camo, so I can quickly scan and see what warrants more attention. Plus, I have excellent color vision, so even small color changes stand out to me.
      For many people, the Black breaks up the silhouette and makes for more effective camo, but for some people, the Black might as well be Day Glow Orange.

      @@nicolasmarazuela1010 no, as most areas don’t have (m)any flowers to spruce it up. You have the populated „low“ lands with forests (green), meadows (grazed green), fields and houses; then there’s the hills without the fields or cliffs of bare rock and above the tree line below the rock line, you might find some natural flowers…
      But in the forests there’s usually enough brown leaves that the 4-fruit pyjama is probably ideal and it’s not that bad in the all green.
      But they replaced it, with the TAZ90, which I will fight you on being nearly ideal in the swiss green areas. Though I haven’t seen the swiss version of multicam yet

      No camo is 100% effective in all environments. For example most modern hunting camos at distance become a single color and you wind up looking like a human shaped silhouette, especially in the open. Most military camo isn't trying to hide the wearer absolutely but is just trying to break up the human shape and be somewhat effect both in the open and in cover also while moving or stationary.
