Warning 2: 11:39 Finding board version number
Warning 3: 23:24 Z-offset value
▬ TROULESHOOTING▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
1) After following the video, when you start the print, your extruder will start leveling with G29 command. After G29 command is completed it should start printing. However, if it is stalling at the rear right corner and not doing anything, it is time to change your SD card. That happened to me after couple months of publishing this video. I just changed my SD card and it started working again.
2) Jiggly sound coming from CR-Touch. Seems like metal leg vibrates inside the CR touch as a result you might hear a jiggly sound during printing. Seems like that is okay, mine has been working like that for months now. No issues, it just jiggles. If you have solution to this let me know in the comments. I will make a video about the sound soon and share the link here.
Let me know your problems and solutions, I will add them here to help others with common problems.

My CR touch arrived and I installed it following your video 30mins later its all up and running. With such clear and easy to follow instructions it was a breeze. Thankyou
Awesome 👏🏻
Honestly the most thorough install video for the CR Touch. This helped me finish my build tonight. You earned my sub!
Awesome
Just got my CR Touch installed on my new Ender 3 V2 and couldn’t have done it without your video sir! New to 3D printing and this made it VERY simple!
Yeyyyy happy to help!
This is the best CR Touch set up video. Comprehensive and straight to the point. Well done!
Yeyyy thanks
At first I was like "a 30 minute video? seriously?" but I had this going while I installed it and i'm so glad I did. Really excellent video.
Thank you! There are lots of details thats why it is lo ng 😎
Just what I needed to install the CR-Touch on Ender 3 v2 :). Now finally my printer prints as it should without more jams due to poor leveling.
Congratulations
Świetnie zrobiony poradnik, szczegółowo i przystępnie. Good Job !
Fantastic tutorial! I used this instead of the official directions, which I found a little lacking, especially in properly setting the Z-offset value.
I don't think, though, that you have to modify the pre-G code in the slicer unless your bed is constantly going out of level. That takes additional time for EVERY print.
Instead, I just use the console to do a bed level before each printing session, rather than hard-code it in each print. Saves time. You can always choose Level before doing a sensitive print.
Well you need G29. 1 min should not be a problem 😀
Thanks for posting this - I got a CR touch for Christmas but have only just installed it as the instructions from Creality are rubbish and I had visions of spending a whole day trying to figure it out. This was really simple to follow for a beginner but thorough enough that everything I needed was covered and I was running some test prints within a couple of hours!
Yeyyy!
Best video on installing the CR-Touch on an Ender 3. I'm new to 3D printing, I am now comfortablehis installing. Thank you.
Niceeeee. Welcome to family
This was a very helpful video, very clear and easy to follow. As a 3d printing noob I am very grateful you made this video. Thanks!
Happy to help
Thank you for this! I had a lot of trouble raising the bed and it was good to see that you had to set the z-offset so low. My bed wasn't quite as low but I still had to set the z-offset to negative 1.2!
Hapy to help
This was great. Watched it while waiting for my part to arrive and then used it while installing. No issues and went smoothly.
Happy to hear
best installation video for CR touch - had to check out a couple but this one has it all
Of course haha 😃 thank you 🙏🏻
Extremely helpful! Thanks for taking the time to make this video.
Thank you too!
This video was VERY helpful!! I just installed a CR Touch to my Ender 3 V2. After I had the printer and cr touch assembled, I turned on the power to see if it works. Everything looked good except the CR Touch, it was blinking red. After installing the firmware mentioned in this video, the light turned purple as it should be and the auto homing worked great!!
Thanks so much for the easy tutorial!!
Nice to hear!
Thank you for this. I just added the CR-Touch to my son's Ender 3v2 with the 4.3.1 board (2022 build, 256k RAM). I was able to use the 4.2.2 firmware without a problem!
Have not even heard of that board only 4.2.2 and 4.2.7
What a brilliant video and especially good because your not shouting and being 'cool and awesome' in every other word not forgetting calling us 'guys' all the time ;-) On a serious note though your efforts here and clear explanation is suited for all levels of expertise. My CR Touch is arriving tomorrow so your video will be my 'go to' for the installation, I have not had much luck with manual levelling on the E3 V2 and despite having 5 other printers this machine has not been so easy to set up when in fact I was hoping it would have been the easiest. The web site for the firmware downloads seems to have changed from what I see here in the UK and would have thought it would be the same as that in the US. All aspects of your video were pertinent to the subject explained clearly in a manner we can all understand, what also was good was you did not deviate nor did you introduce any 'fluffiness' just plain facts . Well done and thank you. I have subscribed without hesitation. PS So nice to see clean hands and nails in close ups ;-)
Hahaha 😃 thank you so much for your kind and detailed comments. I am pretty happy after reading this. I hope your experience goes well and things work flawless 😃😇
man, this tutorial made cr touch installation a piece of cake for me! thank you very much!!!!
Happy to hear
Amazing tutorial…light years better than the official instructions. First print with the CR Touch and I’m thrilled at how much easier it makes cranking out a print!
Awesome
What he said.
"Put thing on other thing"
Thanks for this video! I've been at this for a bit and every video I've watched kind of skipped over some steps. Wish I had found this video first!
Thank you for your comment!
Thank you so much for this tutorial, you made installing the CR Touch a breeze to install. Thanks again!
Haha happy to help
Excellent video, very easy to follow and got my CR-Touch ready to go. Thank you so much!
Happy to hear!
Great tutorial, got mine installed, and it's working wonderfully. Thank you for sharing.
Awesome 👏🏻 happy to help
Nice job bro, thank you for taking the time to make this to help the 3D printing community. We appreciate you
I happy to hear this. Thank you! I will make more videos

Thank you! You too
Thank you so much for this. The manual that comes with the CR Touch has incredibly small text and I found part of it a little confusing.
Your video was detailed, clear and incredibly helpful.
Thanks for the tutorial, I don't think I could have figured this out without your help.
Thank you for your comment!
I am two days trying to install the firmware for my Ender 3 V2. Finally, I can say IT IS INSTALLED. Thanks for your video. I watched it many times. Cheers,
Happy to hear
Fantastic job and the best video on UA-cam! ❤️
This video was a MASSIVE help.
I really appreciate your comment! I am happy now haha. Thank you
I like your methodology! Thank you for the clear video
Thank you thank you
Excellent informational and practical video. Thank you for the outstanding instructions and great help. Truly appreciated.
Thank you
Excellent video sir! Just got my auto leveling kit and will be using this to set mine up!
Good luck 👍🏻 happy to help
Thank you so much for the detailed video. I appreciate it!!!!
thanks for taking the time to make this video!
You are welcome!
Was looking for the easy CR touch leveling instruction. This is the best. works fine now. tnx
Happy to hear
All you need to know. Great video. Many thanks.
This was an exelent reveiw of the install. Thank you very much, this really helped me! :-)
Great! Happy to help
Thank you so much for all the detailed instructions !!!
Happy to help
Thx for showing in such detail. Def feel confident now to install mine. Thank you.
Best of luck
Very informative, this video is long enough to make me understand all steps that need to be taken, not like the others.
Awesome tutorial that made this install almost too easy! Thanks :)
Yey
This is amazing !
Thank youuu
Very good instructional video for beginners (like me) The only change i would make on this guide is on Circuit Rerouting at 10:12 i passed the cable with other black sleeved cables from the back 9:23 (and pass it from the hook holding them from underneath the motherboard case) and only remove the screws from front panel to remove the z-stopper and only that cause if you pass the cable from this slot it will left hangin out like you can see on 13:22. Very nice job anyways!
Thank you for your comment!
I did the same, the length on the CR Touch cable seems to align with this method. My only regret is that I didn't geed it through at the print head, I started at the Y
You can change it but may require some more work
I did the same. It wasn't very hard to do and the length is perfect. You can compress the mesh sleeve and the cable feeds through easily. Great video.
Creality should pay you for this. It was very helpful and much better than the included instructions. Thank you!
Hhaahha you have a point 😍😃
superb how to video. Very detailed. Thank you so much. I am going to install this later today.
Yeyyyyy!
Best Tutorial! Thanks a lot for it!
Thank you!
Really nice video, easy to follow and to understand all the steps and precaution to take. Just waiting for my CR-Touch (i just hate bed-leveling :D )
Haha nice! Thanks for the comment
how did this go for you? it seems to have just brought more headache for me with the z-offset stuff
@@RH3D Finally installed it yesterday, seems to work fine an easily, no real issue encounter with the z-offset, juste had to use the firmware Ender-3 V2-HW-V4.2.2-SW-V1.0.5T-SpritExt-20220714 for my ender 3v2
Very helpful. Thanks!
This tutorial was super helpful! Thanks to you, I've got my printer (Ender 3 V2 with CR Touch) up and running at high quality! Thank you, sir!
Nice!
Great video my friend, really informative and able to follow easily.
Thank youuu
Super informative video, thanks man
Thank you
thanks for your video, you helped me to install my cr touch and its working perfect. Thumbs up
Awesome thank you! Don’t forget to subscribe 😁
I struggled with the correct file on the Creality site for the CR Touch and then getting it to install. I also had glue all over my Z port on the board and where I needed to plug the CR Touch in, which I needed to remove before I could finish up installation. Other than that, this guide was very useful and it's all working now! Thanks 👍
Thank you. Easy to follow
Appreciate it
Great video, very thorough, an added advantage is it is a fair bit easier to go back and readjust the Z offset to get even closer to the 3mm that you are looking for after measuring the test print.
Thank you
Very informative video thanks!
U r welcome
Hi, thanks for your video, very useful in setting up my CR Touch. 👍🏻
Happy to help
I can’t thank you enough. I purchased a new CR touch. I just got my machine. I could not print anything that was not sticking to the bed and it def was related to the bed leveling and height. and the nose crashing into the bed. The instructions included was horrible. I am def going to be looking for the videos in the future.
Thank you for your kind comments!
This was so helpful thank you so much!!!!
Yeyyyy!
Cok sagol, Doktor Bey!
Fantastic! Thank you very much!
Great tutorial. I just ordered my CR Touch, I'll be installing it today using your video as a guide. I will reply to my own comment here and let you know how it went!
Great. Good luck
@@3DPDoctor thanks. It went well but I kind of feel like it's hard to tell what the Cr touch is doing? If my bed is not completely level my prints still fail. After a manual relevel it's good again but I thought the crtouch was supposed to account for those imperfections
Did you add G29?
Thank you Sir!!!! So helpful !!!!
Happy to hear
Txn a good video, this video help me a lot :D
Nice
you are the most descriptive video available tysvm i was ready to throw my printer
Thanks ahah
super easy to understand and replicate! Kudos
Thank you
Great tutorial! I have the same motherboard version and mine came with hot glue fixing the z-x-y connectors. Had remove that glue to be able to disconnect the z connector.
Oo that is upsetting
Excellent video! Here's a piece of advice for anyone struggling to install the firmware like I was
Try a different MicroSD card. The one that came with my printer would not upload the BLTouch Firmware, but it installed the factory firmware. I tried everything, but then I swapped it with the SD card on my roommate's 3D printer, and it worked first try. If you know you have the right firmware and everything is installed properly, you may just have an SD card the printer doesn't like
Yes, that sd card is a hidden problem waiting to be discovered
I ordered this and I’m so glad I found this video before it shows up!
Great
@@3DPDoctor hey man! I noticed when you want us to take out the Z axis that my cables are hot glued to the mother board , can I just leave in the Z-axis? Or do I need to take it out
I think it should be okay to leave it on but you need to test it out. You can melt the hot glue with hair dryer
@@3DPDoctor thanks for the advice! I also was curious why my Z-offset will not go down after a few uses, it does get closer and then it doesn’t want to get closer anymore
Thats pretty wide explanation. I am not sure why. Did you re do the adjustments? Did something went wrong?
very good step by step tutorial, and also the trick to run auto levelling for every print, ill buy it cause manual bed levelling is really a trouble to me
Good luck!
Perfect! thank you
Like #501, thanks for the video, looking through that little booklet included in the CR_touch was not doing it for me lol. I bought the CR-touch while still having an 8-bit chip so I had to upgrade that as well (to 4.2.7), and with both those upgrades my Ender 3-pro feels (and sounds) like new!
Thank youuu
Great tutorial. I'm a little late but followed every step by step and worked out great, couldn't be happier, but I'm now considering the jyers firmware, would be great to see a tutorial on how to install and upgrade from this.
Yeah i am thinking about it
You only have to remove three screws from the bottom and one screw one the top on the short one on the right to get access to the motherboard. Routing the wires along in the same route and area the hotend wires goes into the motherboard.
Super helpful, thanks
Nice
Thanks Harry!
Haha
Thank you 🙏🏼 you’ve saved me.
Happy to help
on numara video olmuş . Teşekkürler
Great tutorial. I wish I had known more about G-code going in. Apparently you need to have that semi colon at the end of the G29 addition, or it just stops the print and goes home. Hahaha! Well, now I know that. Other than my missing ; was a great tutorial. Thanks for the help!
You dont need ; unless you are going to make a comment. You can learn gcode very easy :) thank you
@@3DPDoctor I might have had some other issue holding me up. I restarted the printer, sliced the model several times, and each time it would do the 9 point touch, then go straight back home. As soon as I went back in and added the ; then sliced it again, it worked great. I'm fairly new, so it might have been something goofy, but all good now. 3D Benchy came out quite nice, Buddha cat was pretty good too.
Nice!
Those Murder Horns at 2:14 somehow activated my non-existant laptop subwoofer.
Hahaha 🤣
I installed a CR-Touch on Ender 3 v2 like in your video. I also finished the Z axis end. then car home. and went straight through the glass. broken and more things broken. thanks for your cool video😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡
Thanks for the video, since I have watched it twice (once before and once during the install) I have also sub'd and liked.
I wonder why you didn't feed the cable under with the black cables? It is much cleaner I think and where I put my cable. Just a question, not a criticism. Thanks for spending the time to make this video :)
Also, may I ask why you did not set your z-offset while the nozzle and board were hot?
Thanks again
Thank you! Well, when you are recording and doing the job, it is hard to optimize everything haha. I make this video on one go, did not plan all the steps. Haha good for you to find a better location! Regarding z offset, yes heating and doing it is closer to real case scenario however it doesn’t change anything for me. My prints are still great. So I generally do cold leveling unless I start having issues 😂. Hot bed leveling is better, true, since it is closer to print case scenario
@@3DPDoctor the video is great and I still reference it for different things. For instance, 10 minutes ago I used it to remind myself that setting G29; the way I did was correct.. and sure enough, it was!!
Thank you again
This video is a nice refresher... I do have one question regarding this upgrade. My e3v2 currently has a BL touch installed on it and im upgrading to the cr touch... Can i reused the same cable the bltouch is connected to on the cr touch or should i use the new one?
So it's this really a plug and play then?
Alot of bltouch videos I see require firmware compiling for it to work correctly
Thanks for the video
nice helping video...
Happy to help
Great video. Are you Ricky Rubio? 😂
Haha thanks. Who is ricky rubio
Hey 3D Printing Doctor,
Thank yiu fir such a great utorial...I would say my prints are coming out perfect now. Thanks to your detialed tutorial :
Further, in case if anyone faced an issue with the firmware upgrade ..which is that their firmware was not getting detected when they plugged in the flashed SD card with the bin file.. do follow these steps :
1. Format the SD card.
2. Add the BIN file with renaming the bin file in the sd card with his format ..."firmwareSomeNumbers.bin" for example "firmware32334.bin"
3. Plug the sd card in the printer...the screen should be stuck on creality logo.
4. plug out the sd card and again add the bin file but this time with the original name.
5. plug the sd card back with the orginal filename in the printer.
6. The firmware bootup should happen with voilet light in the cr-touch hardware
I installed the CR Touch today and updated the firmware. Now, my print head homes to the upper right middle of the board on my Ender 3 V2, any idea why? I noticed that your screen says "Home" in the upper left side, mine says "Main"..
What’s the point of the “Level” icon? After you add G29 it gets new settings for every print anyway. I also am getting a thin area just north of center every time. I’ve adjusted z offset many times but that “bald” area will not go away on the first layer.
Great video for us new to 3D printing! You explain everything with such detail, thanks for posting! Just a newbie question, when you set your new z offset, do you save it?
Yes. It saves when u click the button
Just got my CR Touch today, and I have another question for you. Im currently running Jyers E3V2-ManualMesh-3x3-v4.2.2 Firmware. Can I download and install the CR Touch Firmware from Creality with this current version and them download the E3V2-BLTouch-5x5-v4.2.2-v2.0.1.bin? Sorry for the silly question but I'm pretty new to this. THANKS AGAIN!!!
Haha unfortunately i am not sure. I don’t use jaris at the moment
Jyers
Hi,
Awesome video! Just a question, do you have to adjust the z-offset before every print?
Nope no no noooo 😃. After you set G29 in the code, it auto levels the bed before each print.
ive done evrything exactly as it shown but my printers firmware wont go tru and after i restarted is it keeps beeping help plz
My "Z offset" option is missing and the printer keeps saying "Home z First". How do I Fix this?
I've been in chat with ender for a few days but there is a language barrier I don't think they understand "z Offset" is missing.
at 26min 50 you open the file by clicking on it. on my macbook it just gives me an error and won't open. how do I open it like you did?
I do have sublime text installed in my computer. That helps!
When I download the software from the creality website it provides a folder with 5 different 5 folders that all have bin files in them which one do I use? Ive got a 4.2.2 motherboard
Excellent Video! Thank you
Thanks!
Very good presentation. Thank you. Question, why not have the g code read the current bed mesh rather than do the test before every print?
You can do that too. I like leveling all the time before each print. Just in case lil
all of my wires on the mainboard are hot glued in place so i just shoved the z stop wire in the empty space
i also ran the wire through the mesh stuff to make it look nicer
Congratulations
