DirtyOldSkunk not even dude, you can say that van halen started the shred movement or no van halen= no "x" guitar player, but a lot more have innovated more and can shred eddie's face off. and with your logic, then the first of everything is and always be the best at it
Only Guitar World can take one of the best guitarists of our time, put him in a studio with a guitar and amp, and make him record a video of him pulling the whammy bar generating some random noise. that's like getting to hang out for 2:21 minutes with Albert Einstein and asking him to clean your toilet.
***** aside from being a physicist, another thing Einstein taught us is about humility... that we are nothing but a speck in an unfathomable large universe. What you learn from this video or cleaning toilets is up to you :)
Joe is the man when it comes to modern electric guitar music. He has to know how to express as much as possible on an electric guitar and one of those viable expressions that is naturally created is ^^^that - whatever that audio sorcery was that he produced with the greatest of ease. "Cleaning Toilets" lets call it that.
He does it so effortlessly, thanks Joe for that lesson, one of the top 3 greatest guitarist of all time, not only because of he's ability, but he's material, and achievements, and humble attitude.
Nice Spinal Tap reference! I do have an old '89 Kramer Sustainer but it needs a new neck (i had it worked on but it turned out very poorly) & i doubt i'll find one anytime soon. The old 80's Sustainer pickups aren't the greatest & are harder to use. The Sustainiac seems to be a lot better and comes in a single coil config as well. So until then i can't try this out. Also, no way am i trying this on my strat haha!
I can understand why Satriani sounds so much better than me when he plays technically demanding music at speeds I can't hope to reach and nails the tone and articulation every time. That makes sense to me. I have no idea at all why Satriani sounds so much better than me when he just reefs on the whammy bar and makes insane absurd alien murderbird noises. And yet he does.
How can he pull up and stretch those strings with breaking an E,B or G string? Specially designed strings? Anyone know? I’ve got a Floyd Rose and a ZR bridge
Something you can do is with your fretting hand do a riff, and then with your picking hand you hit the string(s) the riff is on with the wide too part of the pick. It sounds weird! For added weird noises you move the position the you hit the strong
Slack the low E. With left middle finger, bounce it off the pickup pole piece while manipulating the pitch in a wavy signal with the bar. It’s a flying saucer pooffing smoke rings out the exhaust as it flys away like a butterfly. 🛸~~~
Those aren't alien noises. That's Time Travel in that episode of spongebob where everything is chrome
Am I right!?
LMAOOOOOO
KillerSkullX
A L O N E

''I'm making funny faces i know but i can't help it'' Yeah right, if only we could see them.
canté Mad Unrelated but I worship The Harvest Wombs. Like 7000 plays just from that album.
+Michael McCuin
This band the harvest wombs is great! I had never heard of them before.
That fallujah song is awesome. Thanks for mentioning them.
Joseph Hryciw he mentionned them because of my account pic, you're welcome
You into Arkaik or Inanimate Existence? Likely seeing them tonight.
I guess I been living under a rock.I am rediscovering metal.I have not heard of them.looking for new bands.
"i can go out and get a bite to eat and its still ringing" sly spinal tap reference
Damm
If they wanted weird alien sounds, they should have gotten Buckethead...
DirtyOldSkunk But if you want weird alien sounds with an explanation...
DirtyOldSkunk Lucas Mann*****
+DirtyOldSkunk You know what,Edward Van Halen still on the top of the hill, love Satch but Ed's another league, the trend setter...Hello from France :)
DirtyOldSkunk not even dude, you can say that van halen started the shred movement or no van halen= no "x" guitar player, but a lot more have innovated more and can shred eddie's face off. and with your logic, then the first of everything is and always be the best at it
Satch just gave us another secret here as well. The use of the sustainiac in this technique which I've never would have guessed.

***** True, but how Albert Einstein would go about cleaning your toilet would probably blow your mind.
But thats a question you wont see in other interviews
***** aside from being a physicist, another thing Einstein taught us is about humility... that we are nothing but a speck in an unfathomable large universe. What you learn from this video or cleaning toilets is up to you :)

DereMemo. Did you not see “of our time”. ?
Joe, you've got a great sense of humor along with your great chops!
01:22 - I sure can, Joe!!
Young Buckhead approved this
Buckethead can give you lessons if ya want Joe
1:15 Nice spinal tap reference :)
Same note “haaaaaaaaaaaaa!”
Something he didn't mention that is really important is the use of delay.
someone who is learning or looking this video must be a player and he definetly know how and what is going on
Very important

“Okay so now it’s time to explain what I was doing”. That’s the funniest fucking thing I’ve ever heard. And it was unintentional.
Crystal Planet... what a masterpiece of an album it was and still is.
Surprised I didn't see any Rings of Saturn jokes.
+Jay Ward
SatriAlieni-Core

Ddelop Kwapn bro what if lucas and joe made a song together, it would break the entire earth
never been a huge ibanez fan but those guits look like they play pretty nice
neat. sounds wild and crazy. happy bday joe!
So cool! Love this lesson, Satch is so good
That's of the best Ibenez JS models I've ever played. I only wish that there were more choices on colors.
that's not cheating, actually. that's brilliant !
AMAZING SOUND
That's amazing, pac
A cool way to troll some guitar center employees
This is hilarious! Love satch!!
Satch is a master of creating weird alien sounds. But Rings Of Saturn can sound like freakin' pinball tables!
Joe Satriani is probably the next Jimi Hendrix.
Joe Satriani does Buckethead.
How to make wierd alien noise guitar sounds in two steps:
1- Get a Sustainiac
2- Be Joe Satriani
Yeah, i love sounds like these :)
I like the Spinal Tap reference "I can get a bite to eat and come back and it's still ringing"
That could have been some homeless person with Joe's voice overdubbed.
And the most brilliant guitar ever!!!
1:15 Great spinal tap reference!
Did Joe learns that with Buckethead? Or Buckethead learns with him?
Tedious !!!
I love satriani, but this section must be done by mattias eklundh. Freaky guitar sounds.
That Spinal Tap reference! Joe's the man.
MattKupka totally Paul Gilbert made that joke on his Terrifying geetar trip video to :D were all geeks haha
TOTALLY USEFULL
BucketHead; That's it?
Nice, just make me want to mess more and find more cool sounds :)

The intro when he began playing gave me an aneurysm
Nigel Tufnel quote is the best
So now we understand Van Halen...
The spinal tap reference ❤️
Rings Of Sat...riani
I’m a big fan since 1989!
Joe loves his whammy bar.
Nice Tap reference.
Gotta love Tufnel!
I can understand why Satriani sounds so much better than me when he plays technically demanding music at speeds I can't hope to reach and nails the tone and articulation every time. That makes sense to me.

hi, i can't find that mini pick-up model. What is that unbelievable sustain system ?
That sustain.....that damned sustain
Holy shit that sustainiac was INSANE
Dig that song by Bored Boy. Thank you Shazam. Now back to the awesome Joey Satch
its all showbiz. said satriani
Bravissimo maestro!!!
Master !!!
How can he pull up and stretch those strings with breaking an E,B or G string? Specially designed strings? Anyone know? I’ve got a Floyd Rose and a ZR bridge
What was playing at the beginning? Stock music or Satch? Not his tone but sounded cool.
got it: it's "schecter sustainiac" pick-ups. Wow !!!
Something you can do is with your fretting hand do a riff, and then with your picking hand you hit the string(s) the riff is on with the wide too part of the pick. It sounds weird! For added weird noises you move the position the you hit the strong
Joe is a allien, he knows what he
is talkin "bout lol
It helps to be a weird alien
Don't eat my face but what is that opening rift from?
Song at the intro?

by the sword - ethan meixsel
Ooo reis sen napıyosun buralarda jdjd
It's actually really easy to do even if you don't have a sustainiac or fernandes sustainer, and you can do it without a floating tremolo.
Alien guitar secrets from Joe awesome always refreshing no ego!!°
I want that guitar for that long sustain!
Ibanez JS2480
What is that first song called in the first seconds of the video?
Is the neck pickup is sustainiac?
use a slide past the fret board right in front of the bridge can get some alien sounding noises i guess haha
Slack the low E. With left middle finger, bounce it off the pickup pole piece while manipulating the pitch in a wavy signal with the bar.
It’s a flying saucer pooffing smoke rings out the exhaust as it flys away like a butterfly. 🛸~~~
That intro was Joe talking to his alien bretheren
Damn it. Joe Satriani making weird faces as he plays guitar, and they had to crop it out of the video. God damn it.
Does anyone use an EBow anymore, now that the Sustainiac is readily available aftermarket and is fitted to many guitars from factory?
Mr clean of metal
The master
cant you also use an effects pedal?
whats the song at the beggining?
what brand tremolo?
Step 1: Be a bald alien who likes to surf in outer space :P

Rings of saturn aprobé this
Anyone named Andy just say "Yeah" when he said "Can you still hear that Andy?"
