      DirtyOldSkunk not even dude, you can say that van halen started the shred movement or no van halen= no "x" guitar player, but a lot more have innovated more and can shred eddie's face off. and with your logic, then the first of everything is and always be the best at it

    Satch just gave us another secret here as well. The use of the sustainiac in this technique which I've never would have guessed.

    Only Guitar World can take one of the best guitarists of our time, put him in a studio with a guitar and amp, and make him record a video of him pulling the whammy bar generating some random noise. that's like getting to hang out for 2:21 minutes with Albert Einstein and asking him to clean your toilet.

    • @MikeAnello
      @MikeAnello 9 років тому +78

      ***** True, but how Albert Einstein would go about cleaning your toilet would probably blow your mind.

      Joe is the man when it comes to modern electric guitar music. He has to know how to express as much as possible on an electric guitar and one of those viable expressions that is naturally created is ^^^that - whatever that audio sorcery was that he produced with the greatest of ease. "Cleaning Toilets" lets call it that.

    Nice Spinal Tap reference! I do have an old '89 Kramer Sustainer but it needs a new neck (i had it worked on but it turned out very poorly) & i doubt i'll find one anytime soon. The old 80's Sustainer pickups aren't the greatest & are harder to use. The Sustainiac seems to be a lot better and comes in a single coil config as well. So until then i can't try this out. Also, no way am i trying this on my strat haha!

    I can understand why Satriani sounds so much better than me when he plays technically demanding music at speeds I can't hope to reach and nails the tone and articulation every time. That makes sense to me.
    I have no idea at all why Satriani sounds so much better than me when he just reefs on the whammy bar and makes insane absurd alien murderbird noises. And yet he does.

    Something you can do is with your fretting hand do a riff, and then with your picking hand you hit the string(s) the riff is on with the wide too part of the pick. It sounds weird! For added weird noises you move the position the you hit the strong
