Does anybody know what type of beard he's using?
baahahaha
kratos beard
hahaha!!!
Santa Claus Mark II.
Heavily hair dyed.
Imagine how fun it is to be this good
can one tell me how I may purchase a MusicMan Beard?
Simon... No purchase necessary. They're free. Just throw away your razor.
Petrucci looks like a younger Santa Claus
AlpaQ more like gandalf tho
Petrucci created Santa...
Cat stevens
Tom Araya could be his dad
He IS Santa[shhh!]@@AriVD

I have a telecaster
Why does i'm watching that video?
You can put a bigsby on there!
John patruci on a bixby😂😂😂😂😂
I put a Floyd i my tele lol
Why does you English bad so much
2:26 "So i always say, you know, with your whammy technique as far as vibrato, is that you wanna try to go for this smooth... thing..."
At least he is beast at playing the guitar, instead of talking about it
I personally love the Music Man bridge now more than the Floyd Rose. Both are great, but I love that I don't have to worry about the stupid locking nut and locking bridge. I can do all the tricks with the Music Man bridge and never go out of tune either. But, It's neat that they offer this for people who want a JP Model with Floyd though.
I agree with you on the music man bridge. I bring my JP60 from standard to drop D all the time with no tuning issues. I had difficulty doing this in the past with locking nut / tuners.
Makes sense for Music Man to make a model w/ a floyd though, there's plenty of other options with their bridge.
So this musicman tremolo is floating like floyd rose right ? Can go up and down
I don't even have a whammy bar
Do you have a beard though?
Nick Sm I'm and adult male so obviously.
Nick Sm im an adult asian....so no beard...
+haventgotoverit
oh hi mr myung
I'm gonna be the one person who makes a Quake 3 reply. You knew one of us would do this.
1:57 transforming to Steve Vai
It is lydian mode has nothing to do with certain person
@@apriyudapratama2543 I'm actually adressing more to his whammy bar playing
His beard is hypnotic
What he does at 5:25, is just the definition of "beyond of this multiverse". Period.
I met Petrucci last month. Nice guy
Next time tell him his beard is teaching guitar lessons in youtube.
You don’t meet John Petrucci, he meets you.
Nice. Wish I could I love this guys playing
Bo Shredd why can’t you lmao
My favourite black Santa-claus bearded guitarist.
Kilty MacBagpipe you mean a black bearded santa clause guitarist? Not a black santa clause with a black beard ://///
🎅🏿
Santa got an alternate skin?????
5 minutes of Whammy bar and not a single dimebag squeal??!! Did they all forget about it on youtube haha.
Dime got it from VH and Vai.
EthnHayabusa Yes but it is still not in the video, and it was dimebag's signature move.
Sure, Dime did it a lot. Just a decade after Vai and Eddie. Petrucci probably just didn't get it from him, so why would he mention Dime? He didn't call the bar flutter the Brad Gillis. ;)
Nothing against Dime. Hell of a player.
EthnHayabusa My point is that this technic does not appear in the video. Do you get it now?
I just bought that exact beard at PARTY CITY $ 19.99
Wow! It's really cool to see John supporting smaller artists and jamming out to Polyphia for the intro!
which song is it?
All of them. They do whammy stuff in pretty much every song.
+Dean Marshall it was a joke dude, not talking seriously, I think because they use a lot the whammy
Aviator featuring Jason Richardson
The holdsworth thing was so dam sweet had to go back for another helping! John is the man ! 😎👍👍
Metal guitar god Dimebag brought whammy bar back into life
if you give him an afro wig he would look exactly like Reggie Watts.
if you do nothing at all he looks like Luke Harper
if you look at him how he is, he looks like John Petrucci
+Alex Sharp which sucks because he just looks like Reggie Watts without the afro.
and sound just like him!
No matter how many signature models you get, your best guitar will always be that colorful Ibanez of yours you used in the 90's, so raw and powerful! If only you would go on tour with that, i would be so grateful!!
Be careful expressing opinions on the internet, might get in an argument.
He is such a good guitarist
Didn't Petrucci and Dime have beef back in the day?
There was no beef. John just wasn't a big fan of Pantera mainly because of Phil.
+sammy reynolds most musicians dont like phil
duckeradin13 i understand why
I wonder why you guys aren't playing super bowl half time shows and winning grammys every year, Dream Theater is an amazing band
Holy crap did you guys hear the octave overtone that is nit pinch harmonic at 2:45 ? It comes in a second after he attacks the note and does the vibrato... Man The combination of everything he uses gearwise is nirvana to produce this. Plus the hands of Gandalf the black? Lol
Im interesting to know what pedal he use on this demo, specially as a delay is it the blue one ? Thanks guys !
TC Flashback Delay.... Its a sick pedal.
Toneprint enables you to change and tweak a lot of parameters inside the pedal, like adding modulation to the delay, lo-pass and hi-pass filters, ping-pong, etc. You can also directly import a toneprint made by a famous guitar player (Steve Vai, Guthrie Govan, to name a few) who collaborated with TC and designed their own toneprint.
Massive tone!
Them SM-57s are everywhere now, such an awesome mic.
Loving the Dunlop: John Petrucci Guitar picks. Best guitar-pick I have ever used. I can't be without them so I bought 10 packs. Nice info here. oNe LovE from NYC
That JP15 sounds beautiful
How come no one has noticed that he plays the intro of "It's all too much" by The Beatles at 0:18 and 5:18, I couldn't stop smiling
3:05: "If you don't do that, you're just going to have One Direction" - shots fired.
dem tonez doe
Yeah! Cool tricks, I'm going to pick up my Les Paul and start practicing now!!!
OMG, Music to my ears. Give me more.
So yes, part of his great personality
The reason why Floyd's (or any trem system with a locking nut) sound more "rubbery" and have a larger variable frequency range is that the strings are not moving beyond the nut!
killer tone
0:26 "Certified Guitar Hero" LOL
I think they meant "certified guitar god"
Now I know where Stevie t got his tricks. Kirk Hammett and this video
Sounds like he is making contact with aliens.
My god a whammy bar, the things you can do with it, amazing. Does it come on a guitar?
My guitar has a vibrato that only goes down, it's not a floating tremolo, and I haven't managed to do that cool distorted sound. How do I do that with a normal tremolo?
Thanks John
Eddie Van Petrucci!!
Only Petrucci could tune up to pitch and have all his tuners line up flawlessly on the JP16
Someone please make a video..how he manage and takes care of his beard!😁😁
very nice tone. are those pickups the dimarzio crunch lab and liquifire? sounds great
Dimebag's way of using tremolo was the best.
Jimi I did it with a strat but without a floating tram right don't ya think.
And it went out of tune ALL the time, would love to have heard him with a Floyd Rose
Fender invented the floating bridge. If you have a stray that isn’t floating, it’s wrong.
Using it only with a one type of distortion. There's so much more probabilities with other effects
Great video!
Petrucci's tone used to be amazing back in the day
Omair Sheikh Agreed. Now it's all high gain and fluid. I kinda liked the crunch from 6DOT and Train of Thought eras.
The crunch was at it's peak on Awake and ACOS imo
It's called a flutter. Prince was the first one I heard doing it way back when.
For me, Dimebag will always be the king of the whammy bar
He did dive bombs with a whammy pedal while Satch, Vai, Eddie were already playing entire sections using the bar. Stop overeating the dude despite him being a decent player.
0:17 If John Petrucci was my dad, that's the look I would want him to look at me with as he's repairing my toy bike on his knees while I'm at the age of 8 years and he looks up at me with beautiful father's love.
What bridge is that? I want to know which bridges can flutter aside from Floyd ones.
He's so good, he can even play mistakes!
polyphia haha
is this a jp15 sahara burst flame or sahara burst quilt?
IF YOU WANT A REALLY GOOD WHAMMY BAR TRICK YOU SHOULD HAVE STEVE VAI OR JOE SATRIANI
or dimebag
Bob Robie dimebag is dead though
Ron Aromin Guthrie Govan can make an insane amount of noises too! Jeff Beck would be a good shout too!
Gilfoy really knows his licks
Master on the guitar..
Who is 'Holdsworth' ?! I love that technique.
Allan Holdsworth was a jazz fusion guitarist. He died 4/15/2017 from a heart attack caused by high blood pressure.
I remember trying to do this kind of stuff on an Ibanez prestige 1527 (yeah, 7-string) and it was all dirt and mud. It has put me off when it comes to Floyd Rose-type bridges "forever".
Everything he plays sounds awesome!
I’ve figured out I’m not big on the music man trems. They seem to lack the depth and tonal range of a Floyd or an Edge bridge.
Where's the jp17? Its almost 2018!
this technic like joe satriani guitar screaming harmonic, amazing
JP is channelling Henry Kaiser here.
Allan Holdsworth is great but you can't go wrong by listening to Steve Vai play the use of slurr notes with whammy bar , also playing with feel.
No Dimebag?
Great! What about picks?. Nobody talks about them
What bridge is this?
Oops where’s my bar
Reaches in beard
Oh there
He's gonna make a bad ass lookin Santa Claus when he goes grey O_O
one the best gitaris
kind of funny this video comes out so soon after stevie t makes a whammy bar tricks video too.
Today, an incredible musician. Tomorrow, Herman Toothroot.
Ahhh....... The number one guitarist in the world
The true master!!! \m/
The whammy bar on my fender strat doesn't stay in place, when i try to tighten it, it doesn't go over the thing that my e string goes into, it is droopy how can I fix this? also whenever I play certain notes my guitar starts vibrating and sounding like shit
You can buy a little spring to put in the hole before you screw in the bar. Solves your first problem.
Second problem, no idea without seeing the guitar.
Ty
He attacks the fuck out of the trem when he does flutters
Is that a chinese sm57 copy?
Santa is now with dream theater.... Ho ho ho ho
Ho Ho Ho Ho is too 4/4 for dream Theater 😛
One of those things he does should go to Dime Bag Darrell inventions acknowledgement I would think. :)
fun fact: John Petrucci grew his beard out to play a monk in his new movie.
am a newbee , does my guitar have to be a floyd rose to do those whammy thing?
Minimum you can have a semi down tremolo like fender, Wilkinson
What is a harmonic
Man i cant believe my uncle gets to sing with a guitar player like this. (James labrie)
0:26 hey guys my name is GOD GUITAR...
Learning valuables musicianship from a WiZaRd!
Does anyone know where I can get one of John's music man signature beards
petruci genial.
Getcha pull
i want this vibrato :)
He looks like young Dumbledore! 🎸👍😝
One of those sounds was "the Belew" but Adrian didn't get the street cred. Poor Adrian. :-/
John is going crazy with the hair dye in his beard.
This surprised me- I always see him playing a musicman without any tremolo, so I said to myself- tremolo are not essential, just like J Petrucci who can do awesome stuff without tremolo.. I thought he doesn't like it- but I'm wrong :)
Didn't know John was in Amon Amarth now
