    The raw electricity between them though...
    I think when Uncas saw Alice, he made this self pledge to protect her at all costs.
    He was linked with her at that point.
    Despite the danger, and the odds stacked against him,
    he still chose her.
    An act of true love can transcend everything in a matter of seconds.
    Life is not worth living until you've found something worth dying for.

    Fun Fact: They were actually supposed to have a love scene in the movie but because the actress who played alice was very young at the time so her mother didn't allow her to do it. But even though they didn't have a love scene or many scenes together they still loved each other very much!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

      They actually filmed it, though not a graphic scene like it was originally in the script because Jodhi May's mother wouldn't allow it. Unfortunately it was cut out not to take away time from the main couple

    The most amazing thing about this film is the fact the screenplay turned a racist, prejudiced and boring book into a relatable melodrama. In a boom it was Cora who died with Uncas because she was half Creole - still white but not born in Europe....

    False love story, in the book, it was Cora and Uncas ! Magua wants Cora for him and he tooks her. Cora was 1/4 black (her mother was mixed, half black) and Alice's half sister, she was more strong and "lovable" for a brave Mohican than the "fade" blond younger Alice (wich was in love with the white officer, the Major Heyward who doesn't die). Uncas, Cora and Magua died at the end. Hawkeye was never in love.

    • @baswordfish
      @baswordfish 6 місяців тому

      @@ninafucec652 you already say that and I answered, I just did a mistake about translation, I'm french and mixed = métis in french, I mean mixed. "Metis" = Same word, but different meaning in french and in english....

    • @baswordfish
      @baswordfish 6 місяців тому

      @@ninafucec652 "métis" in french means mixed. Cora was white and black mixed. The terms multiracial people or mixed-race people are used to refer to people who are of more than one race.
      So, I was talking about mixed (métis word in french).
      but do you know that:
      In Canada today, Métis (with capital letters) refers to an Aboriginal people living mainly in the centre of the country, descended from Cree, Ojibway, Saulteaux and mostly French settlers. Moreover, the authors[Who? ] automatically associate the term Métis with Francophone Métis. The province of Manitoba (or state of Manitou) was founded by Métis, mostly French-speaking and Catholic. There are Métis across Canada, including Ontario, Saskatchewan, Quebec and Labrador21. Because of an unclear definition of the Métis people, the population concerned is difficult to estimate. Estimates range from 300,000 to 800,000 people22.
      Different Métis communities speak different languages, especially seniors and people from rural communities. According to the 2006 Canadian census, there are very few Métis who speak their traditional language, a dialect of French called Métchif (Michif, Mechif or Michif), but linguists call it Métis French, to distinguish it from the mixed French/Cree language of the same name spoken by other communities and often despised for a language. Other Métis communities speak Métis English, Métis Cree or Métis Saulteaux/Ojibwe. The schools established by the Catholic Church were dedicated to replacing this language with standard French, and today English is often used by the Metis22.
      The Canadian government does not recognize the Métis as a “First Nation”, but the 1982 Canadian Constitution recognizes them as an Aboriginal people, which allowed them to regain traditional rights (including hunting rights).
      Canada’s most famous Métis was Louis Riel (1844-1885) who negotiated with the Canadian government the creation of the province of Manitoba. A central figure in the Red River Rebellion and the North-West Rebellion, he opposed the Canadian government and, accused of treason, was executed by hanging on 16 November 1885. Today, Riel remains a controversial figure in Canadian history, regarded by his supporters as a heroic resistance fighter. After the second rebellion, English-speaking speculators succeeded in dispossessing the Métis of their lands by diverting a program established by the Canadian parliament to purchase these lands[ref. necessary].
      Labrador Métis
      The Labrador25 Métis, also known as NunatuKavummiut, are a people similar to the Red River Métis but are not considered “Métis”. They are descendants of Inuit women and European men from southern Labrador.
      Au Canada de nos jours, Métis (avec majuscule) désigne un peuple autochtone habitant principalement le centre du pays, descendant des femmes cries, ojibwés, saulteaux et de colons pour la plupart français. D'ailleurs, les auteurs[Qui ?] associent automatiquement le terme métis aux métis francophones. Des Métis, majoritairement francophones et de foi catholique, fondèrent la province du Manitoba (ou état du Manitou). Il y a des Métis dans tout le Canada, notamment en Ontario, en Saskatchewan, au Québec et au Labrador21. Du fait d'une définition peu précise du peuple Métis, la population concernée est difficilement estimable. Les estimations varient de 300 000 à 800 000 personnes22.
      Les différentes communautés métisses parlent des langues différentes, surtout les personnes âgées et les habitants des communautés rurales. Selon le recensement canadien de 2006, il reste très peu de Métis qui parlent leur langue traditionnelle, un dialecte du français appelé Métchif (mitchif, mechif ou michif), mais que les linguistes nomment français métis, pour la distinguer de la langue mixte français/cri du même nom parlée par d'autres communautés et souvent méprise pour un langage. D'autres communautés métis parlent l'anglais métis, le cri métis ou le saulteaux/ojibwé métis. Les écoles établies par l'église catholique se consacrèrent à remplacer cette langue par le français standard, et aujourd'hui l'anglais est souvent employé par les Métis22.
      Le gouvernement canadien ne reconnaît pas les Métis comme « première nation », mais la constitution canadienne de 1982 les reconnaît comme peuple autochtone, ce qui leur permit de regagner des droits traditionnels (notamment les droits de chasse)23.
      Le Métis le plus célèbre du Canada est Louis Riel (1844-1885) qui négocia avec le gouvernement canadien la création de la province du Manitoba. Personnage central dans la Rébellion de la Rivière Rouge et la Rébellion du Nord-Ouest, il s'opposa au gouvernement canadien et, accusé de trahison, fut exécuté par pendaison le 16 novembre 1885. Riel reste aujourd'hui un personnage controversé de l'histoire canadienne, ses partisans le considérant comme un résistant héroïque24. Après la seconde rébellion, des spéculateurs anglophones réussirent à déposséder les Métis de leurs terres en détournant un programme établi par le parlement canadien pour acheter ces terres[réf. nécessaire].
      Métis du Labrador
      Les Métis du Labrador25, appelés aussi les NunatuKavummiut, sont un peuple similaire à celui des Métis de la Rivière Rouge mais ne sont pas considérés comme des « Métis »21. Ils sont descendants de femmes inuites et d'hommes européens de la région sud du Labrador.
