    Hi Kevin! Do you have a video on front end alignment on a 2004 EZGO TXT?
    Thanks

    Cover up spindle with a towel and try not to directly spray brake cleaner in this area as you have grease and seals that you don’t want to get sprayed.
    Everything else will be fine .

    • @Kevinsgolfcarts
      @Kevinsgolfcarts  Рік тому +1

      Brake cleaner won't hurt the spindle or seals. Carb cleaner would cause issues with some seals and orings. There isn't supposed to be grease or oil anywhere inside the brake drum area. There's oil in the rear transaxle, not grease. The oil seals on this cart are on the transaxle and need the axles and axle tubes removed to access them.

    Hey brother will this be the same set up for a 2004 ezgo 6 seater ?

  • @downstateradv

    Question for you. It specifically says in the service manual I have for our cushman (ezgo parts) not to manually adjust the star wheel as it is automatic and doing so can make it malfunction. Thoughts?

    • @Kevinsgolfcarts
      @Kevinsgolfcarts  3 роки тому +1

      You have to make manual adjustments at some point. These are simple brake systems but do require attention from time to time. They do self adjust when they are working properly while the cart is moving. They are designed to adjust in small amounts to compensate for brake shoe wear. If they are installed and not adjusted initially, they will never adjust themselves to the correct start position.

    Wow, Kevin, love your videos on the fix/ repair of the EZ Go golf carts! We have 2002 model. Wish you were closer to us, I would definitely want you to do a full maintenance on it. Our two front tires are flat , and I know my hubby won’t be able to fix them, so I’m going to have to call our local golf cart shop to fix them. We bought it in 2007. Should we have all new tires put on , or just the two that are flat?

    • @Kevinsgolfcarts
      @Kevinsgolfcarts  3 роки тому

      Your local tire/golf cart shop should be able to determine if the tires are repairable or need to be replaced.

    Just picked up a 1996 TXT Gas for around 400€ ($450 aproximately) and I was wondering if there’s something I should be looking out for, it does run but I would just like to know if there’s some kind of “normal” issue with these carts. Greetings from Barcelona, Spain! Thanks!

    • @Kevinsgolfcarts
      @Kevinsgolfcarts  4 роки тому +1

      As long as its running, it should be good.

    • @estanislao7964

      Thanks for the answer! It’s been fine so far, although it burns a considerable amount of oil unfortunately, piston rings I guess, but I can’t be bothered to replace them hahaha. Brake pads do need to be replaced, they are non existent by now.

    Hey sorry for the random question but have you ever encountered a starter/generator on an older gas powered cart that requires an external jumper between two of the posts, besides the regular electrical connections inside the cart? I’m not that familiar with them but that’s what the electrical motor shop that tested it for me said they had to do.

    • @Kevinsgolfcarts
      @Kevinsgolfcarts  3 роки тому +1

      That is normal for 2 posts to be jumped together. Starter/generators are series wound motors and need this jumper wire in order to operate. Some starter/generators are bi-directional, meaning they can rotate in either direction. This jumper determines its rotation. Now if the cart has a bi-rotation starter/generator, like in a 2 cycle cart, then no. You would have to remove this jumper and reinstall it normally. If its not working in the cart, there is a different problem.

      Kevin's Golf Carts thanks for getting back to me so quickly! It’s in a gas powered 1990 EZGO Marathon, and I believe it is supposed to be a bi-rotation S/G. So I have a problem if that’s the case and I can’t get it to run in the cart without a jumper installed, correct?

    • @Kevinsgolfcarts
      @Kevinsgolfcarts  3 роки тому +1

      1990s were 2 and 4 stroke engines. If its a 2-stroke, then it can run both directions and the forward/reverse switch controls the rotation. If its a 4-stroke, then it needs the jumper to operate.

    Are you worried about the cleaner killing the grease in the bearings?

    • @Kevinsgolfcarts
      @Kevinsgolfcarts  2 роки тому +1

      No. The bearings are sealed. If brake cleaner gets in, then there's a good chance dirt is getting in and the bearings should be replaced.

    What are you Torqueing them wheels to KEV ?

    • @Kevinsgolfcarts
      @Kevinsgolfcarts  3 роки тому

      Tight. They don't need to be gorilla tight, just tight enough so its even and doesn't warp the drum.

    • @HarlyHunk
      @HarlyHunk 15 днів тому

      For unspecified torque, there are charts available on the internet. Kevin has been doing this so long, he instinctively feels the correct torque.

      It's only dark on camera. Sometimes I forget to get the lighting correct. Time is money.

    Sorry, but I’m gonna call BS on the cotter pin, you certainly can reuse a “good” cotter pin and it doesn’t take a genius to tell the difference

    • @Kevinsgolfcarts

      Call it whatever you want.

    • @HarlyHunk
      @HarlyHunk 15 днів тому

      Not BS. Cotter pins that have been installed are now "damaged." They cost nearly nothing to install new. Even if uninstalled right after install, go ahead and replace it.
