  • Well Covid-19 has us all stuck at home so it seemed like a good time to do some work on the old golf cart. I got the brakes off Amazon my carts a 1994 but I could only find 1995 and newer. I figured I'd give it a shot and they fit great. Super easy to install tool me about 10 min a side.
Big thing to remember to do after the install is to keep pumping your brakes and checking to see that your wheels are locking up before trying to drive the cart again. Mine took all lot of pushes on the brake pedal before the wheels would lock up properly. On these Golf carts the only brakes are the rear brakes so you want to be sure their working before you start driving.
Thanks for watching and please like and Subscribe.
    Cheers, Mike

Great Video, thank you, my brakes on my ezgo squeal badly when backing up, not going forward, just backing up. So this Vid will help me replace them.

You’re pretty tough for doing that with Covid. I couldn’t even get off my back when I had it.

Have you ever had an issue with your brakes locking up while you’re driving? This happened to me the other day. Driving along and then brakes locked up and the cart came to a screeching stop! Not sure how to diagnose

@@chasefamily7455 No I've never had that happen. It's a mechanical cable driven system. Maybe you caught a branch in the under carriage and it pulled the cable? The other thing I would check is that the springs in the drums are still connected to the shoes. If you broke a tension spring that could have made the brakes come on.

You were right! One of the springs had come off and I think it was jamming in somewhere causing the brakes to lock up. I didn’t realize it until I opened everything up. I just wanted to tell you that your video was exactly what I needed. I have watched probably 10 different videos on this subject and yours was the easiest to follow. I’ve never ever done any kind of mechanical work like this before, but thanks to your help, I was able to replace my golf carts brake shoes effortlessly. Now it drives like a dream. Thank you again. I really appreciate people like you taking the time to make videos like this

I ordered the correct pads and everything went as planned just like your video. The challenge is the drum would not fit back over the pads despite adjusting the screw all the down. I think it may be a quality control issue (ordered from amazon). Do you have a product suggestion on a 2008 EZGO TXT. I would prefer not to have to file the current one down unless have to.

Sounds like some inconsistencies in manufacturing. Mine were a little snug but I was able to get the drum over them.

thanks bud, im having trouble getting the drum to go over my new pads... I screwd the adjuster all the way in and there is too much pad for the drum to go over it

Are you sure you've got the right brake shoes? If you have the correct ones and have adjusted the adjustment screw there should be enough room.
