09.14.22 | 4 Ways Dashers Can Increase Their Customer Tips #Doordash #DasherCreator
Most customers don't tip that much in my market those 20 tips are rare no matter how good you are
Had a order today that was $17.25 for 3.5 miles and it ended up being $90.06 with a $82.06 TIP!!!!
(Florence SC)
Was thinking about trying door dash..is it really competitive with other drivers trying to get good routes?
LIE You Lie. Got a 82.06 tip. Lier.
Lol
@@Mr_Joe_B_619 yea there ain't no way lol i have not done dash before but I'd assume 99% of the tips u get are 5 bucks and under
@@mattbrainard4113 You just accept or decline orders as they come to your phone based on mile/pay. Like never go with something like $5 for 10 miles, unless that 10 miles is literally on the way home. Trying to get enough to make it worth the trip, over here Gas is $4.40/gal. So, no less than $5 for a 3 mile trip. And with so much Idling like at every light for what feels like 20 minutes, gas mileage is bad. Like 18 mile/gal bad.
Was that order in a rich neighborhood?
The thing i don’t like about doordash is that it takes 5-10 orders to increased your acceptance rate but only takes one declined order to lower it 😅
Ummmm, so you're mad at math? It's all based on a rolling 100 order total.
All dasher please. Stop accept orders 2.50 3.50 or 4.50 please. Will be see what happened after one week or two weeks. Promise
New to this been trying to accept everything to keep my acceptance rate to get orders desperate to do this the money hasn't been what I expected hope you will elaborate
@johngudino9361 Doordash has an algorithm. Basically it studies what you are willing to accept. If you accept crappy orders it will continue to get crappy orders. This depends on your market though. What I have found is that smaller markets tend to earn better with priority. Which is why acceptance rate matters in these markets. If you live in a small market I reccomend getting top dasher it makes a difference. Bigger markets have more orders so it's a big variety. If you live in a big town then the acceptance rate dosent matter because so many come through you'll bound to get good orders eventually. If you see anything like $2.50, $2.75 or $3.30. If you can and it wont hurt your acceptance rate. ( that is if acceptance rate dosent matter in your market) Don't take those. Those are not worth the time and gas and with totals that low there is most likely no tip meaning they don't value your time in service. No tip. No trip. Sorry for the long message but it's things I wish I could have known when I was starting like you :)
@@johngudino9361 the acceptance rate is bullshit, doesn’t matter at all
What happens if we all decline? Does doordash up the pay rate for that order and throw it back into the pool?
@brittanyf9016 they do but barely you're lucky if they add a dollar. Think of this job as an hourly. Sometimes you have to settle for less per hour. But have a maximum goal. Keep track of your hours and don't be afraid to multi app
All. Dasher please 🙏🙏🙏🙏. Stop🛑⛔accept orders 2.50 3.50 or 4.50 please. MAKE money to points. Be smart
Unfortunately too many people are worried about their acceptance rating and having that "top dasher" title so it'll never happen.
I agree. Some clowns make minimum wage going for top dasher. I make $25-35/h doing no tip to trip
Lesson learned I accepted every order for a whole week I got 20 dollars an hour still door dash has a limit
I do $7.50 and above nothing less I don't care if your 2 miles be patient and maximize your time and money....
@@madtruckamax3341 I’m going to try this. Thanks. What’s your rating like ?
I wish more people realized this. You are the planting the seed for the next order and setting yourself up for a higher tip in the long run.
Or the other dasher who gets the order to that location.
I refuse to deliver to the local university. None of the buildings are marked well, student housing is the same. Every time I have done a delivery there it's been a hassle and the time spent just left me in the wrong frame of mind. I completely agree with you on this.
Thanks for the confirmation on that one!
Same here we will not deliver to any University, exact same problems students never answer their phones they don't answer texts they don't ever tip. One of our universities is the University of Utah but there is also a hospital of the University of Utah and that's the exception we make because we figure somebody might have a sick kid or it could be a tired nurse and we always bring hospital orders regardless of tip size just to be nice 😀
I refuse to do this as well. I just started but have had enough of these university orders. It isn't hard to send a quick message to us to let us know how to get into the dorms or where they are located. I got one today that told me where to go. So I did then he proceeded to tell me his food wasn't there. I know it was. I took a picture. People suck!
College students are frugal and you won’t see any tips either. Avoid colleges!
Tip! Park your car around the upper class residential neighborhoods! They tip more and you work less! 👍
@@Sjshotjolley That is nice!! I'd feel/do the same for sure- esp with all their tireless work thru Covid!
No doubt, this man understands that time is money and money is time.
Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
New dasher here. I’ve been watching your videos a lot, trying to get the most out of my dashing experience!
On point! 100% I do every single thing you listed and I'm so glad you have the audience for it to mean something when said. And yes, I even apologize to a customer if they make mention of a bad dash experience. Paying it forward to go full circle, that's the goal. I do enjoy some consistent and appreciative relationships with customers and restaurants. I enjoy my day and my job. I don't dash in a big city like Charlotte but there's something to be said for dashing in a nice small town in NC 😁💕💕💕
Like in your video..."Thank you, Bently" . Love that line. Lol always makes me smile
Who else can't stand when a customer requests you hand it to them then they take forever to come to the door SMH. I always just leave that shit there no matter what they request TIME IS MONEY! Also can't stand people who know they live in apartments and don't provide you with a damn GATE CODE.
Me i hate those customers 😅
Based! I had that exact problem before, had to wait 5 minutes for that customer to give me the code to the apartment smh
I’m new at dashing but I travel for work and have dashed in 5 states. You have been a great help and I’m supplementing my income in every state I visit! Communication is key 🔑. Dashing in the weather and letting people know what is happening is important. I also use DD when I’m home and know how the process goes for the customer. If you haven’t ordered door dash as a dasher you should . Know the feeling of waiting know what the app shows you and tells you. Normally the app doesn’t tell you for some time after they dropped the order a quick message you are arriving or almost to their destination may not arrive until you have just left the order.
I had a guy double a $7 tip because I texted him that I dropped off his food, where I put it then told him “Enjoy!” Giving good customer service and going the extra mile really do pay off in the long run, whether it’s noticeable now or not.
Looking forward to your next video!
thats what some driver dont understand, good customer service keeps the customer coming back
As a customer I can tell you I always increase my tip if my dasher communicates with me. Even if the restaurant is slow, the fact that you let me know what's going on removes frustration. And even makes me feel sympathy for the dasher since they're the ones sitting there waiting for my order. Communication is key to great tips.
They need to have an option where customers can select their favorite drivers next time they order 👍
I have delivered to a senior guy...$5.50 he tipped $8 cash! Woop!
So I've learned you never know!
Big Smiles, call the customer when needed...show you appreciate their business at delivery! It helps!
If your customer's street or house isn't marked...let them know...nicely!
SO TRUE MY MAN! PREACH IT!
Im a full-timer and have been seeing my tips steadily increase over the last year. Everyone knows me at the restaurants and they prioritize me as soon as I walk in. Customers know I am going to give them good service. Steadily making 200 a day in my market now.
Holy Fuk! 200?!!!
How many hours a day?
@@laviinatty 8-9 hrs. And that's Non-Stop, no real break other than in between orders, with my lunch packed in the car. I get up at 4:00 a.m. and make sure I'm on the road by 6. Breakfast lunch and a little bit of the in-between if necessary.
Lets get it! 👍👍👍
@@kyleschumacher508it's been 11 months since you wrote your post, how are you doing now?
90% of customers that will tell u "oh that was fast" will not tip u good or not tip at all...they just think by telling u that ,u will forget bout the tip ,and be happy with their "compliment" . I have been delivering food for over 21 years and thats how it has always been
Until you see me consistently banging these $40 orders.
What if all they had enough for was their food and couldn't tip?
You got me going full time since 2020 & still Full Time now! Thanks for still helping the Dasher community even with your Silver Play Button shining in the background! You’re “Top Dasher” in my book 👍🚗
Been in so many situations where I think i'm running late..
only to peak at the "deliver by" and i'm like 25-30 minutes ahead of schedule. 😂
Only a little over 100 delivers, 12 days in.. and i've learned a lot.
Not just from this beautiful man 😁but experience, and what seems to work for me.
1. If "pickup by" is running 4-5 minutes late: short but sweet quick message.
2. Notice friendly instructions, and get a nice tip.. I drop "Thank you, and have a great day!"
3. Once in a while i'll accept a little lower than dollar a mile.. and it easily gets my A.R higher.
4. I avoid apartments, unless the tip is nice and the pin is very specific.
Appreciate the tips. I'm a new dasher...Going on my 7th day....Made $1,000 my first full week as of today. Now that I'm declining the bs that # should increase.
I like you saying let's be friends, it's friendly
Thanks!!
@@DoordashDiaries I just became a new DD driver and my child hood friend told me about your videos. We both live in Charlotte. I do dash in the Belmont and Myers Park area which tip really well. Thank you for your videos!
Thank you so much for your videos. ❤ Though in my area it's difficult during certain times to get decent tips. The customers are extremely angry with DoorDash drivers. I've been trying to show them that we are not all like that. I love what I do. I've had to tell a customer to stay in the house to keep from getting out in the rain. I love working in the rain and getting wet doesn't bother me. I sometimes get added on tips because I treat them with kindness and respect. I think that's my wow moment. My secret is that no matter what happens, I remind myself something good is on its way. I don't let negative things bother me.
I dashed myself since the end of 2018-till mid 2021 , I’d consider myself as an expert delivery driver. A couple tips I wish I would’ve known is that you don’t have to accept every order! Literally you have to cherry pick good orderrs. + Find a busy area with lots of restaurants. Like a mall strip I would drive 15-20 minutes to the area I would door dash in. Figure out your areas lunch rushes and afternoon rush. I would work 9:30am-1/2pm depending how busy the morning was. Take a break, like shower change nap. Then head on out 415pm till it slows down. Could be 11pm 12 or 1am. All depends how busy it is. Working as a dasher was hard but the money is there if you do it right. You will lose your car in progress so if you have EV or something you’ll make even more $. I used to do this full time and I would never recommend it. But part time yes. Why? Because If you work full time with door dash is simply not reliable. Some days could be a drag like very slow, and some days it could go great. But the fact is that not everyday will be great. And that’s what’ll have you thinking. So with that being said I’d recommend door dashing part time during the busy hours like the afternoon 430pm-10pm something like that. Go get a full time job that’s what I did. Dash on the side for extra money I guarantee you that’ll be a better route! Best of luck for anyone doing this full time. I know the grind and sacrifices you have to give up to dash full time. GL
Great post! The only thing I have to disagree with (and I ONLY speak for myself) is that I do Dash full time. I've worked several "Commission Only" jobs in the past, so I'm used to not every day being great. But that's the nature of doing something that doesn't pay you a guaranteed hourly rate. That said, I'll take the money I do make Dashing and the complete freedom I have Dashing over a guaranteed paycheck ANY DAY AND TWICE ON SUNDAYS! But again, thanks for the post and the advice🙂.
@@chucknovy7694 anyone would enjoy the freedom but in today’s market dashing is really inconsistent.. but you gotta do what you gotta do, good luck 👍
don’t get me started on the maintenance that your car will take or those hefty gas prices
What is EV???
@@gaudylady7 I don’t know what EV is either
Looking forward to the next video. I agree 💯 I am polite, always, am careful to follow delivery instructions and unless it’s 5 minutes away always text the customer when I leave the restaurant with an eta so they know what to expect. I have a 5.0 customer rating so it seems to work. Helping DoorDash and dashers look good only helps all of us. Thanks, Bentley!
I do the same and I am beginning to get 1's as ratings and it frustrates me. I have no idea why my customers are rating me low. I communicate, on time or early over 95 percent of the time. If I am having to wait at a restaurant I let them know and I follow directions. What am I doing wrong?
I never let the customer know when I arrive or depart from a restaurant because doesn’t DoorDash send them a notification of that? The only time I reach out to the customer is if there’s a problem with their order. Other than that no contact is made unless they specifically ask me to call when I arrive or hand it to them. My ratings are 5.0 and I haven’t had an issue with this. I try to be as quick and efficient as possible because I think really all the customer want is their food. Lol
Great Video. Schedule hasn’t lined up yet to dash during the peak times of the evening yet. Really enjoy the videos and taking not so I can put them into practice.
Thanks to your videos I feel better about my dashing experience. I stop taking 1 item orders with no tips that are a complete waste of time.
Today was my 1st day....went and started at 5 and only wanted to do 1 hour due to nerves.....orders non stop and in an hour made 30 bucks plus a few cash tips...I did instacart for a year and this was so much more fun and so easy compared to that....I really enjoyed it and am lucky not to have to work weird hours but work around my hours.....gonna go longer tomorrow and smile all the way to the bank!
Best advice from you as always..thanks!
I love that Bentley thinks like a business man. Keep your attitude positive, always treat everyone you meet like the most important person in the world, and keep good records that will allow you to analyze what’s working for you and what isn’t!
I started dashing March 2021 in a smaller area in Southeast Missouri and only part time to supplement my regular earnings at my full time job. I'm doing good to see even one $10 offer in a 5 hour dash. That being said, this week looks to be my first week over $500 total and I am pretty excited. Your videos have helped give me some tips and I can't thank you enough. It seems every dasher I run into has a very poor attitude and now I'm wondering if maybe this is holding my earnings back a little.
Yea I'm in this Facebook group for dash and it's really negative and over half of the people just complain everyday..
Been dashing a few weeks now. I’ve been going to lil Caesar’s a lot because they are fast and the customers are usually close by. Learned from you how to see the payouts in the orders and come to realize I’ve been delivering to people who aren’t actually even tipping!!!!!!!
Thank you. I’m going to get this program down 🙏🏽 thank you for so much valuable information! U R Dash sent and they should be paying you for these!!!!
Thank you so much for advice. It is so helpful!
Solid and inspirational, Thanks!
I agree with everything you said and I try to act in these manners when I’m dashing
A friend absolutely if we don’t help each other who will. You make a exceptional instructor. Thank you for passing your experience on to other’s
How do u know if its an apt?? Im new at this😬
I loooove your videos!! I'm Learning so much. I'm going to start dashing soon so your videos are so much help to me.
I like that you give good advice. There are so many bad drivers

Awesome video lots of great advice . I'm a youtube but also now a door dasher . I started today with doordash I loved it . I went on 16 delivers and made 131. Bucks . That's with 5 orders not tipping too. I did alot of small orders and I guess some people don't think they should tip. Thanks again for sharing all this info you have on doorash . Goodluck with your channel
Today was my first day as well 🌻 GOODLUCK TO YOU 🤗
You my friend nailed it! keep'um coming Bentley.
As a new dasher I appreciate you sharing your knowledge!
Thank you for your videos!!
I communicate with my customers because of these video's. It has really helped my ratings and the type of orders that i get! Thank you!!
Your videos are so helpful! ✌️
I subscribed instantly before I heard you drop facts
it’s crazy because lately I have been rearranging my life and using the past to bolster the future by focusing on work in the present. You mentioned the city I already have decided to move to in my five year plan. I was in military and worked in logistics. always planning routes, arranging pickups and deliveries. before that, I did the same thing for a product that has gone from putting people in prison to making people money. I have been dashing on and off for a year and a half and I am closing out this year with a hard focus on maximizing my input to optimize the output. You posted this a year ago, but today it was perfect timing. Thank you!
Thank-You for sharing your knowledge with us. I sure appreciate it. Up here in Winston-Salem, listening to your words of wisdom.
You're too awesome!! THANK YOU again & again & again !!
Trying to provide decent customer service is what can pay off later in Doordash. On UE, your communication, speed, and customer service can directly reflect in your tip that day,,since UE asks customers if they would like to add tip.....so with DD, i know that my decent customer service has translated to repeat customers. And on what would have been a slow Wednesday, I have lived off of repeat customers for nearly the entire evening.
Great tips bro. Salute
It's good advice. I have about 1700 deliveries. In my market... most of my customers are houses I've been to before.
I've been pushing through the anxiety and just accepting any order that seems worth it. Got my acceptance rate from 20% to 40% in a couple days. These videos help a lot, I'm actually making a lot of money and haven't really been stressed at all!
Oh my goodness. I just did my 3rd day of Dashing. That first day was really stressful for me. I wish I could’ve seen videos demonstrating how a Dash to a hotel, hospital, or apartment complex might go.
Facts brother we have to take care of each other will promote only better for us all and the customer
I have always liked when you said let's be friends.
And I LOVE how you have always provided me with tips free of charge for the last 4 years I have been dashing. ” Thank You Bentley" 😁
Patience’s is the key
The alcohol deliveries always helps me when it’s slow in the area, I dash in Uptown Charlotte too
HEY. I just had to come back here and tell you after several months. I finally started dashing again and the tips that you called out in this video really actually helped me quite a bit. I went from making almost nothing because I got so bored doing it to making a very consistent $100 a day. So anyway thank you again.
too late. got fired. lolz
This was so helpful.I am a fairly new dasher and in Charlotte also.
I also consider if the route is mostly freeway miles or is the whole four or five mile route through red lights every other block , if the drop off is right off the freeway exit then you can drive 70 mph there and back to your zone and save gas then it might be worth a longer trip especially on slower days.
This is great advice! Thanks so much!
Have you upgraded your DD account yet ? And one more thing do you support bot earnings?
yep its more about the orders you dont take then the ones you do. I try to explain that to people all the time taking bad orders takes you out of the rotation. Its not about being the fastest dasher its about doing the best orders. Keep track of you $permile and $perdelivery average. Plain and simple its about being efficient and bank big deliveries. My delivery average is $10 and I push to keep it over $11 I used to push it over $12 but the stacks of 2 restaurants to the same person has pushed it back to being consistently around $11 or better. Last week 119 deliveries for $1309 and change. Its real and its simply about maximizing your effort not being the fastest
The first one is the realist shit ever. I delivered to the same person twice one day difference and the first day they tipped $1.50 and the second time I delivered to them they gave me $9
I am starting today! Thanks for the tips!!
First video I’ve seen and love your outlook I’m dashing in Charlotte to!
i love your tips
Very informative-
I think you’ll get more views with ride along videos (that’s a different experience people like to watch)! Then merge in the couch 🛋 talk.
Your videos are good for my mental health
Thanks for your tips. I’m new DoorDash. I’m doing my first tomorrow.
Thanks some of your strategies are good
Great one Bentley I need to start me a black list too
I started dashing outside of Raleigh (wake forest area) and I learned so much after my first week watching you! Please keep up your content, as hustlers like me appreciate all your tips! I have earned double each week taking your advice and I appreciate you so much! Love you
Thanks Fam!! Will DO!!!
I know you’re killing it out there in dash land. I wish I found him when I first started
Yes I only would dash garner/Clayton/Cary Hollysprings morris vile north Raleigh…anything but southeast Raleigh (my area) the tips are dreadful 😢 but I hate to leave them out tho
@@kuroe-chan5190 it’s so true but you need to make your money how you can! As you go on you’ll see offers to your area and you can pick them up and take them when your shift is over! Good luck to you 🥰
@@DoordashDiaries Due to the new acceptance rate model on the app, the declining orders method is now obsolete. I tried it, now in the past couple days, I don't get big orders on short distances anymore and my rate is around 34-45% They stopped sending me ANY good orders to the point where I had to stop dashing hours early on Saturday and Sunday because I was making NO MONEY, because of my acceptance rate. This advice is no longer good advice!
I’m ready to DASH today! Let’s GOOO!!!!
Thank you
Just saw ur video and I actually shook my head multiple times in agreement with you. Just started Dash’n I’m @70% acceptance 94% on-time 5star rating but I’m not optimizing and/or utilizing my time properly to maximize earnings potential. I will definitely try to catch-up on all ur videos
Some good tips and things to think about.
I found the best way to double my income Dashing is by outsmarting Doordash. I used to jump for joy and click accept when I would see a $17 order. That is normally 2 pickups and 2 drop offs spanning anywhere from 10-15 miles. That is basically costing you an hour AND taking you fully out of the delivery zone. I settle for two $8 trips totalling 5-10 miles now by really reading the route out before accepting. That way I am max of 1-2 miles out of the zone when I drop off the order and I normally get a 3rd as soon as I hit the zone again. I consistently get $20-35 an hour with that strategy. It took me about 150 deliveries to really figure it out. Also DO NOT try new places out that you don't know. You are better taking that day off if your normal zone is slow on a Monday or Tuesday and hitting your zone hard when it picks back up.
New subscriber here 🙋🏻♀️ thank you so much for all the information you give us ☺️
Was wondering if you could share which areas in Charlotte you like to stick with the best? I’m in rock hill and I’m about to start 🥰

I allways hit like for u
I do this as a side hustle and it's addicting.
you deserve it bro don't feel weird about asking for likes and subs
Completely agree with what you're saying. I notice when I deliver 10 plus minutes early I get a bigger payout 80% or more of the time. All the other "higher" pay factors included. I also have black lists for restaurants, and areas/customers. I've also made it adaptable to the time of day and situational awareness. I work 3 different cities maintaining $25-$30/hr I feel my ratings are high because of that "wow" factor you mention. I strictly ding dong ditch my orders, rarely ever handing anything to anyone.
You just ring the door bell and leave even when they ask you to hand it to them?
@@abenewman1351 oh
Lmao ding dong ditch😅 I like it. Most ppl want the order left at the door anyway
I wish I could do this but I live in a state where we have winter most of the year.Even people who request you leave their food at the door will complain because their food was cold.. they never leave additional instructions if they live in a secured building..only "leave at my door " .
@@milkspotscausemetospazzout6813 if it's that cold then hand it to them even if they want it left at the door. Explain to them you didn't want there food to be cold. They'll be thankful
I've been doing this for about the same amount of time also over 10,000 deliveries. I have all those lists as well. Lol... it took a minute to figured all this out but once you get it down. $2-300 a day is easily obtainable in an 8-10 hour shift if you're in a city. Im in Central Florida so it's always on
Scheduled dash works very well for me, thanks for the tip 🎉 orders right away after you connected
, good orders, thanks again
I'll be your friend.You've helped me a lot.Thank you.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for these well scripted and informative videos. The only advise I have as a newbee dasher is that you use the same tempo and concise speech that you did in this video so that those of us new to the game and /or hearing impaired can fully take in the information that your trying to provide. Putting that aside, you have been hands down far above the rest in producing videos that not only teach but also entertain those of us new to the game of gig work. Thanks again for being such a great teacher as well as friend to those of us trying to make a go of it out here in the delivery world...
If I Did Door Dash:
1) I Would Do It Part Time, Because I Love My Current Job (I'm A Parts Delivery Driver And A Key Holder At An Auto Parts Stores).
2) There Are Neighborhoods That I Would Not Deliver To UNLESS It Was To A Business (My Own Neighborhood Is One Of Them).
3) Rather Door Dash Likes It Or Not; I Will Be Carrying, Because My 2A Goes EVERYWHERE I Go.
By Part Time I Mean:
1) On My Days Off.
2) After I Get Off Work.
3) In The Morning On The Days That I Am Closing.
Thanks for Paying it Forward
