My headcanon is that Hurley made Walt the protector of the island when he was ready to move on, and that’s why we don’t see him in the church. He’s the new Jacob
Makes no sense. Hurley was Jacob's chosen candidate from the beginning. He was chosen out of 360 people and then he immediately gives it over to Walt? No way. Walt just helped them like Richard helped Jacob.
this is a spacial part at the dvd set included season 6. there is always some extras at the dvd sets but not like this one. you can probly find all extras at the internet
I always feel like they could have easily done an entire series on the adventures of Ben, Hurley and Walt. I can't help but wonder why nobody took that up even in graphic novel form or something.
Agreed. Hurley was always supposed to be the leader. The only reason Jacob picked Jack was that he knew that his brother would try to kill him, and since Hurley is not a fighter he knew he would not survive so he picked Jack knowing that Jack would be able to defeat his brother, and if he died in the process the job would go to Hurley which was how it was always meant to be.
@@thelearner9984 Yes. Hurley, proved Jacobs point that humans won't be easily manipulated and it shows, from not letting his money get to his head and for his overall kindness all throughout the show. He was the embodiment of what jacob wanted to prove to his brother.

They probably still got paychecks. Severance pay could be several month's worth of salary. I doubt they had a pension plan or 401K. I wonder how long they've been on Guam without vacation days?
The US doesn't issue $1,000, $5,000 or $10,000 bills anymore but they're still legal tender and still used in circulation, albeit rarely. Could be a small stack of those?
It's great to see that Walt will go on a journey to help his dad move on. Michael's actor understandably felt like his character's death didn't have much impact and his son became another black boy without his father. But this indicates he will at least be able to communicate just like Hugo.
I always say Michael and Charlie's death didn't need to happen Michael had time to run and jump Charlie just needed to leave and close the door him amd Desmond had time to get out
Without a doubt, there will be some form of prequel/sequel or spin-off based on LOST at some point in the future. It's not a matter of if, but a matter of when.
The only prequel that would work is way back in the ancient hyroglifics times. The temple, statue, etc. If done right, could be really cool. A sequel just causes problems
@@Ostro1980 Or perhaps a spin-off that is loosely associated with LOST, like another Dharma Initiative experiment, in a different location and with a different context.
@dr.julianbashir9193 The characters from LOST were so memorable, that even the perfect prequel idea could bomb even if executed perfectly. I agree that at some point it will happen. I guess we'll see.
@@Ostro1980 Yeah agreed, I would not have any faith in such a project if it where to be announced. You are right about the memorable characters... Whatever prequel/sequel/spinoff gets made, it needs to have very memorable characters with backstories. Didn't realize this existed but it was inferred minus walts involvement. In the last episode Hugo tells Ben "You we're a great number 2" and ben replies with "You were a great number 1". The bird saying Hurley lol wow I can’t believe this wasn’t officially part of the ending of the show. This is not included on Hulu. Hydra Island. A makeover from this series is like wanting to repaint Leonardo Da Vinci's masterpiece La Gioconda. It better stay as it is. A sequel with other characters is a much better guess, but maybe it's even better that it ends like this. If we want our sequel we have our imagination and we can imagine what we want. Lost ❤
I wonder if the severance pay given to the employees came out of Hurley's personal fortune? He thought his money was cursed, and if I remember correctly, Hurley's dad even made the comment he should give all the money away. They even say the Dharma Imitative hadn't existed in 20 years, so there likely wasn't any funds available to close up shop.
Rewatching this and it’s so strangely wholesome to see Ben having gone through some serious friendship-therapy. I interpret the line ‘pretending to be something your not’ to mean both a callback to him pretending to be Henry Gale and also his whole facade as the leader of the Others (it was all a necessary pretence, when in reality he was just a heavily traumatised nerd with a complex)
I watched Lost when it was on tv back in the early 2000s. I just finished rewatching it now, and I realized I missed a lot. This show needs to be watched nonstop, no breaks. Watching it weekly and waiting a year for the next season takes away from the beauty of the show. And you forget details that are significant. Now seeing this epilogue, I’m dying for the series to come back. I would SO watch a continuation with Ben, Hurley, and Walt. I hope it comes back. Next year would be its 20 year anniversary, right?
I just did the same thing. When you binge watch it, the ending is actually kind of perfect. When you watch it spread out over years, you forget the story it was trying to tell and the ending can feel more controversial. The ending stayed true to the shows roots and overall subtext.
@@perusbersuerkkiThat person seemed to think that Hurley became immortal like Jacob and therefore didn’t need to eat anymore. However, Hurley is in the church at the end, so clearly he died, and even Jacob needed to eat - we see him catching a fish and eating it in the Ab Aeterno episode.
Hurley is immortal, but immortality doesn't mean you can't die. Jacob died. It just means you don't age, so aslong as you eat, drink and don't find yourself murdered or accidentally die of any unnatural cause, you'll live forever.
It would be really cool if they brought back Lost but instead of doing a reboot they just continued from where they left off. I would love to see more of Walt, Ben, and Hurley.

Can somebody please just answer me this. If Hurley is running the island now, and presumably hes doing it in a much more friendly and efficient way than Jacob, why is he stopping the food drops?
It's like Ben said, he's tying up loose ends. These guys are working for nothing, no one told them the company they work for doesn't exist anymore. There's plenty of food on the island, plants and animals.
So did I hear this right… they load up the pallets of food, and then it’s dropped on the island by drone?? So does that explain that pallet of food at the beach camp randomly appearing??
To everyone that is wondering how they missed these scenes...They were cut....for good reasons...and never made it to broadcast....DVD extras. Ben Linus, and others, always, amazing craft and delivery.
These aren’t deleted scenes. This is an epilogue to the series, produced as a service to fans to answer the remaining questions not cleared up in the show. It was included in a DVD box set.
Everyone should remember that walt grew tall too fast for the timeline of the show. I think the plan was originally for Walt to protect the island. I also think Walt is the one person that was still alive
So, my question is who put those pallets together? How did the pallets arrive at their warehouse to be shipped out? Where did the food and supplies come from? Clearly, these men weren't manufacturing fish biscuits or chocolate bars themselves. Were those boxes all there since the 70s? Food can't last that long no matter how many preservatives are in them. I have more questions, but Ben said I only get one, lol!
Like any distribution business, stages happen within different factories. Ben would have had to go around and shut down each one. They were just printing labels and shipping in that particular factory.
so if Hurley and Ben look for Walt to give him Jacob´s job when Walt is more or less 20 years old it means Hurley was the protector of the island for only about 10 years....which is nothing compared to Jacob....which is kind of a bummer...
Yea, but with stakes much, much lower: the biggest conflict, mysteries and drama were already resolved in this series; what could have been told would’ve been much “lighter” or only adventurous with mystical elements…
Not even 5000 bucks for a severance pay for 20 years of work is really not much if you think about it (plus keeping the secret), Ben and Hurley are cheap lol
Does anyone else think its silly they get a few thousand, if that, dollars, cash, and he says "You can do whatever you want." I mean... how long is that gonna list like really, 1 month, 2, 6? Ill take the money dont get me wrong its just, I mean gotta be in the hundreds of thousands before I truly rethinking my life right?
Some of these supplies were probably put on a submarine before it was taken over. Then they switched to drones to supply the Swan station. Or maybe they did drones too, for the main Dharma camp. Pretty good that it landed near the survivors and also not far from the Hatch. For some reason Desmond didn't get the message to go for supplies. Kind of stupid they didn't find the back door to the Hatch.
Everyone bitches about one of the show's "unanswered questions" being the polar bears, but anyone who's seen the show would be able to explain the polar bears by season 5, maybe even season 3 if they're presumptive enough.
Well, maybe one of the fans' questions was the polar bears and the other was the strange bird, and a third was something about the pregnancy "problem" which likely started as a result of "the incident" and pressing the button every 109 minutes, since Chang says the EM energy at the Orchid affects polar bear pregnancies.
I was reminded of this scene lately, I just want to say I am very happy they didnt go with supposed spin off/season 7 idea of ben and hurley controlling the island, like helping the whispers cross over to find peace, it could work as a bonus scene like this but not an entire season. I still don't quite get what ben and hurley were even protecting the island from since man in black died they didnt have to worry about someone yanking the cork out and implied to destroy the planet. And I wasnt one of those people either who wanted to know what happened to the others who got on the plane off the island-kate, sawyer, etc, they probably just settled back into their lives and I imagine miles finally got his 2 million dollars. I am so happy this show was not given a forced sequel cause so much of the time these forced sequels ruin what came before and I don't want that for lost unless its to fix a plot error. And I don't even think there was this large list of unanswered mysteries either by end of show, I've seen shows with more unanswered questions that don't get the amount of backlash lost gets for not answering theirs although that outrigger question will always bother me I won't lie.
theres always a need to protect the island remember jacob and the man in blacks "mother" was doing the job before they were born. she says that as long as people exist there's a risk of them putting out the light or something along those lines
Dharma were never meant to have found the island; they tried to dig and harness the energy from the centre of the island, before that the US military brought a hydrogen bomb to the island and the "others" killed them all before they could use it. There are always people/invaders who find their way to the island that can cause damage to it, so there always has to be someone to watch over and protect it. As for the outrigger, that was Llana and a few of the Ajira flight passengers shooting at Juliet, Sawyers boat. They flashed back into present day and then back into the past again.
@@GlobBucket Tbh I dont even recall why that bomb was brought to the island. Also I think dharma was just trying to use the energy for good reasons not to destroy the island. Regarding the outrigger if that is the case why did damon lindelof and carlton cuse come out and say we know the real answer to that and wont tell the fans?, they did say that.
@@malivore7264 they likely said that because the answer was already there (the ajira flight bottle of water they found in the outrigger on the beach abit earlier in the episode), it just required full attention and concentration. The writers didn't always want to hand-walk the viewers into every answer, they wanted us to work things out for ourselves because the answers were already in plain sight anyway.
So if they cancel the food drops... what are they eating on the island? Are they going back to the boar and fruit diet? - and does Room 23 explain what happened to the Tailies, I never liked that there was no clear answer on that. Those kids, Zach and Emma, they had a mother in LA... you telling me they were simply brainwashed and forgot about her? I didn't like that, maybe Cindy and the others but the kids should have been rescued...
They probably get food another way. It was implied in the finale that hurley would remove the rule about not leaving the island. So they don't need to waste someone's time sending food. Or some other way. You say the kids should have been rescued. How? Ben didn't let anyone leave as per Jacob. It was extremely limited and he usually tried to prevent it. They weren't around for the helicopter when the oceanic 6 got off. And they weren't around for plane in the final episode. For all we know, they desperately wanted to leave. But they couldn't. Just like almost everyone else. This video doesn't explain what happened to them. The Dharma Initiative used room 23 for experiments as explained in this video. But it's a bit more than just having amnesia. It's brainwashing. And it wouldn't be the first time that the orientation videos don't explain everything. The kids and cindy didn't seem to be brain washed. Just in acceptance with what is happening or at least just going along with the ride. Regardless, that doesn't mean that the Others used it for the same purpose. We see that they used it for Alex's boyfriend (I forget his name). Presumably to brainwash him to make him compliant. And that was used more as a last resort since he was first locked in a cage. We didn't see the tailies not be compliant so I wouldn't assume they were brainwashed. And I believe in one of the webepisodes, they were using it for experiments with walt. Another thing is they could have just accepted what was happening. Cindy knew who Jacob was. At least that it was significant that he was dead. Which implies she was also following what the Others did. The kids don't talk so we can't know what is going on in their minds. But they are young, which makes it even easier to get them to follow. From what we see with the brain washing, this wouldn't be the case since it seems more tied to how you treat others and life. Everyone that Jacob brought to the island didn't have anything worth living for off the island. This would probably include cindy and the kids. And the people that the Others took were deemed as good people because they would be given a better life. Or at least that's what the Others said. So it's plausible they just accepted this new life.
I think the kids and Cindy were just there to say, "Hey, we know how bad you people are, so are taking these three because they are not safe around you" and to create a reason for conflict, like kidnapping Walt off the raft. If they want to go home, Hugo can probably work out a way. But maybe the kids (and Cindy) didn't come from a "happy existence," either? Why Hugo wasn't on the list to join the Others is beyond me. Maybe they were going to recruit him, when they had him on the dock, but had second thoughts when they saw how big he was?
Sadly, denouement is not the ending of most shows or novels these days, and is kind of boring to wrap things up, so is left to the imagination. The climax of _The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King_ is probably when the ring is destroyed and Sam and Frodo are rescued. It's one of the few with a good (and long) denouement after the climax, which would be the crowing of the king, his marriage to Arwen, the return of the Hobbits to the Shire and their dealing with Saruman and his men. Months later Frodo leaves for the ship at the Haven with the others, while his companions return to the Shire. With Hugo's ascendancy, pretty much all conflict is over on _Lost,_ except for those who have issues with Benjamin Linus taking Richard's place as the number two. It's about wrapping up loose ends like these two scenes. Also it's about Hugo (and Walt) learning to use their powers for the island's benefit. Perhaps Desmond will replace Eloise Hawking's role as temporal protector, or whatever (if he can do it without returning to the island). I imagine that Jacob had to and now Hugo would have to step in subtly to prevent nuclear war. It might be interesting to see Hugo pass the torch a hundred years later, or so. Likewise it might be interesting 20+ years on to see King Elessar assemble his forces to take on minor conflicts with the Easterlings and Southrons. Though perilous like the Battle of the Shire, the outcome would not be in doubt without a Dark Lord to coordinate their forces and combine with orcs, trolls and others. And it doesn't make sense to see a new Dark Lord rise that soon.
@@sandal_thong8631 well written. I'm more of a LOTR fan, so I can't comment on Lost much because I only watched it once and quite a while ago as well (I watched most of LOTR more than twice throughout my life and the Hobbit in recent years as well).
Ben got that job. I think someone said they need special people or their leader has to be special in some way, like how Richard was testing John Locke when he was a boy. So maybe Walt gets to be the new leader of the Others?
Probably BenLinus. who whilst in command moved into the Barracks and used the Dharma food. After you beat Radzinskis Chess game, you can call for the care package, which we also see land on the island. You can tell the Others used this as when Locke opens Ben's fridge you can see Dharma food.
They could have set it up as a trust fund in case anything happened. Or Jacob could have told Richard with his company that recruited Juliet (or Charles Widmore) to fund it so they'd keep pressing the button. Apparently Widmore encouraged Desmond to sail in his race around the world so he'd get to the island, push the button, and maybe get supercharged with EM radiation.
You see them leave the island multiple times, by helicopter, submarine and the wheel. Why Walt is special, my theory, he is the next permanent Jacob, since Hurley died. Also Walt is special because he's the only alive person that other see on the island, without being there like the whispers.
Walt is special because he can talk to the deads and he can help them moving on. Thats why Hurley and Ben took him from the mental hospital to help his father who needed extra help to move on.
Apart for the fact that as mentioned here in practice many left the island and came back all the time throughout the series, in the last episode Hurley tells Ben nobody can leave the island and Ben tells him that this was the way Jacob used to run things but maybe Hurley can find a better way. So apparently, he did. And Walt is special because of all the supernatural things he can do or in other words the writers set him up to be special for whole two seasons but the actor grew up too quickly before they could think of a reason why he is, so... he just is... don't worry about it.

I always feel like they could have easily done an entire series on the adventures of Ben, Hurley and Walt. I can't help but wonder why nobody took that up even in graphic novel form or something.
One of the best thing happened which I was always hoped for, Hurleys maturity reached new level.

I guess this answers the food drop question
And the giant bird Hugo saw. And gives a hint about the cause of the pregnant women dying being related to the EM energy "incident" at the Swan.
And clears up the polar bear issue that people had a clear problem with, although it was already referred to in season 5.
The modern drum and bass playing during the "Clockwork Orange" torture/experiment, how anachronistic!
Now I understand why Claire couldn’t remember anything! Maybe she was at the hydra station...
Whatt??
no. It was the drugs they gave to her. its explained when we see her flashbacks to the other "hatch"
Room 23 only removes the memory of the torture, hence why Carl still knows who Alex is when they break him out.
No. She was heavily drugged.

I remember watching the first episode of Lost when I was 9 or so. I followed it from beginning to end, I even had season finales recorded on VHS. It's great to see that Walt will go on a journey to help his dad move on. Michael's actor understandably felt like his character's death didn't have much impact and his son became another black boy without his father. But this indicates he will at least be able to communicate just like Hugo.
I always say Michael and Charlie's death didn't need to happen Michael had time to run and jump
Charlie just needed to leave and close the door him amd Desmond had time to get out

Omg please start another LOST series built around Hurley, Ben and Walt
Without a doubt, there will be some form of prequel/sequel or spin-off based on LOST at some point in the future.
It's not a matter of if, but a matter of when.
I hope so, the show is already 14 years old now
The only prequel that would work is way back in the ancient hyroglifics times.
The setting and themes could be different from LOST, but if the characters are memorable than they would have achieved the correct goal.
Didn't realize this existed but it was inferred minus walts involvement. In the last episode Hugo tells Ben "You we're a great number 2" and ben replies with "You were a great number 1". Suggesting that had lived out lives protecting the island before they got to purgatory or whatever you want to call it.
The bird saying Hurley lol wow I can’t believe this wasn’t officially part of the ending of the show. This is not included on Hulu. Hydra Island. Dr. Chang using his real name and telling us the rest of the videos will have him under an alias. Explaining that room 23 on hydra island was specifically for brain washing “hostiles” (the others!) who believed in an ‘island deity, Jacob!!!!’ This ties together so much! Crazy.
Also, has anybody else noticed every time we see an orientation video, someone says, “we’re gonna have to see that again.” 😅
Ben & Hurley going back for Walt. Walt being at Santa Rosa. Under an alias!!! Keith Johns!!! 😂😂😂 This is such a vital part of the show! I really don’t think very many people have seen this. I wish there was a continuation of some sort. There really should be.

When they first aired commercials advertising for Lost in 2004, I thought it would be a really cool show. The commercials made it seem like there were dinosaurs or other monsters or creatures that they would regularly have to contend with for survival. So the show was nothing like I expected. It was more of a drama with syfy elements than the syfy show I was expecting. Still it is the best TV show in history in my opinion. Around a month or so I finished re-watching it for the 5th or 6th time. Still an amazing show that I realize or learn something I didn't see previously.

YOU HAVE TO GO BACK!
The scientist actor was great in The Tick as Arthur's step dad.
At first I thought Hurley was just gonna be adjusting the menu of what gets dropped lol.
Ha I only watched it because everyone said wth about the ending. I'm very glad I did. I got so hooked if I had to wait it would've been awful

Hurley is immortal, but immortality doesn't mean you can't die. Jacob died. It just means you don't age, so aslong as you eat, drink and don't find yourself murdered or accidentally die of any unnatural cause, you'll live forever.

Everyone should remember that walt grew tall too fast for the timeline of the show. I think the plan was originally for Walt to protect the island. I also think Walt is the one person that was still alive
What episode was this in?
Walt should have stayed a main character.
My guess is that there are other warehouses and factories where that happens. Ben probably had to go one by one closing all of them.
probably the generic label foods get shipped and a machine automates the process after, adding the dharma labels
and where did the money for all this production and transportation come from? @@ichl46
Really seems like they were building to something there.

The orchid was built in 1977..this station like 1970-71. So that doesn’t add up
Some of these supplies were probably put on a submarine before it was taken over.
Where is this from? I can’t remember.
A dvd extra I think
Everyone bitches about one of the show's "unanswered questions" being the polar bears, but anyone who's seen the show would be able to explain the polar bears by season 5, maybe even season 3 if they're presumptive enough.
You can pretty well guess from season 2 episode 3, where the Dharma orientation video shows a clip of polar bears
Which season and episode is this?
DVD extras, probably from the final season.

Yeah but who would know about that light on the outside?@@kimemes
Why Michael and Walt weren’t in the finale?
There should be a Lost Season 7 !

So since Dharma got purged, who was paying these guys ? Who was running the factory ?
Automatic direct deposit? Lmao
Probably BenLinus. who whilst in command moved into the Barracks and used the Dharma food. After you beat Radzinskis Chess game, you can call for the care package, which we also see land on the island.
You can tell the Others used this as when Locke opens Ben's fridge you can see Dharma food.
@@alicekohler9405 it makes sense. Thank you very much.

Thanks to wikipedia, i came here. My questions:
How can they leave island at anytime?
Why is Walt special? They didn't explain it
You see them leave the island multiple times, by helicopter, submarine and the wheel.
You can leave the island at anytime you just have to follow a very narrow set of coordinates to do so
they did explain it. you just need to focus more.
