The old letters are really special to those of us who create 'junk journals'. We preserve these otherwise unwanted old papers so others can enjoy them. Great video as always.
Thank you for another Brimfield tour!!! Happy hunting for treasures!
Thanks!
I have watched numerous videos of Brimfield on your channel and others hoping to see items I collect, and have seen little to nothing for sale. My haunts up to Brimfield were back in the 80s. Today reminds me of yard sale stuff for the most part now. Of course when I was up there it was over 40 years ago. I do enjoy watching seeing what people spend money on now.
It really depends on what you're looking for. They have everything from yard sale stuff up to rare antiques. I just can't afford the rare antiques, so I stick to what I enjoy, which tends to be the more affordable stuff.
Wow. Nice snowmobile cutter @ 30:45. My father gave us rides when we were kids in that thing. The stuff that can be found at flea Markets is amazing.
I figured it was for a snowmobile. Never seen one before though. Looks like fun.
Tom thank 😊 you for all that you do you have the best collection I ever seen
Thanks!
The force was strong in the fiesta ware. Steif puts a button on one ear of their stuffed animals. Even though many kids bit them off and started choking on it 😂
I'll have to look for that ear tag. Pretty sure these ones didn't have it.
I was born in 76 too. Happy 49th this year!!
I'm still 48, for now! Let's not rush things. Thanks for watching.
Hey Tom! The teddy bear you looked at looked American-made. The antique Steiff bears
have an elongated nose, a hump on the back, and curved long arms. They are stuffed with
excelsior or as it is also called straw. You can also check the left ear for a Steiff button.
They are very valuable. If you see one at a decent price grab it. They only go up in value.
I enjoy your videos! Keep them coming!
Thanks for the info! I figured they probably weren't Steiff because they weren't super expensive.
Brimfield is such a great place to find some hidden gems. A lot of walking to find them though because of the size of the grounds.
For sure! I could go there every day for the full week and still not see everything. I can't wait until it's back this May!
24:15 That was beverage company out of Millis Mass. I grew up down the road from the factory but by that time it had closed down and the building was turned into an Ann and Hope.
Interesting. I'd never heard of them before. Thanks for the info.
Radiation! ☢☣
Radiation is fun.
Great video!
Thanks!
This was great. I love Brimfield, gotta get there this year. Used to go every year without fail but stopped over the past few because trouble with the walking. You just got my fever back! 🤗🛍🪞🪑🖼
Thanks! I can't wait for it to come back this May! Good times!
That little wagon on ski's at the end does indeed hook up to a snowmobile. They were made by snowmobile brands as an add-on accessory. So they would usually have a small brand placard on the side and it was color matched to go with the machines. Since early snowmobiles were only made for one person to ride on it was a safer way of bringing the kiddo's for a ride. They're sought after by snowmobile collectors. Like anything some are more rare than others.
It definitely looked like a lot of fun. I've never been around snowmobiles, so I had never seen one before.
@@fleabittenadventures I've grown up around others who have owned several snowmobiles. But I've never seen one of the little sled-wagons in person. Mostly in videos or photos. So they're not something you see everyday. :)
The old teddy had a hole in its ear which may have been where the Steiff button was. I guess we'll never know.😃
For another dying but not dead mall, visit the Emerald Square mall in North Attleboro MA. The owners say they are trying to revitalize it but are having trouble bringing in stores.
I actually visited Emerald Square back in 2023 (I think that was the year). I'll do a revisit eventually. Thanks.
@ it’s a lot worse now.
Just subscribed 👍
Thanks!
Wouldn't be a flea market without a box of old Playboys. Lol.
Yeah, and they always seem to be in the most random spot, sometimes next to kid's toys.
There's a mall in Lancaster Ohio that's on the brink , I mean ALOT of the good stores like Victoria Secret and Rue 21 have closed. Pretty sure the Bath and Body Works and Spencer's are still there. There was an Elder Beerman and a JC Penneys. The movie theater moved to the back so it's not connected anymore.
Right now I'm pretty much just doing malls in the northeast. I'll eventually get to the rest of the country and I'll add that one to the list.
I may have been here like once in the early 90s? All I know is that this was THE fleamarket. Every year my dad would take vacation in Sept specifically for this event at Brimfield. He and at least one of his buddies would go out there and hunt like madmen. Think Mike & Frank from American Pickers, that's kinda exactly what I'm working with. And that includes a hoarder level of collecting... I am going to have a massive inventory later on in life cause he ain't selling a whole lot.
I definitely think I would have enough to open a store and not hunt for several years. Dude's got several stacked full storage units, half of a modest warehouse, and has rendered most of his own house unusable by the sheer volume of stuff.
Anyway he hasn't gone to Brimfield at least since the early 00s if I recall correctly. Hell he doesn't even really go to Elephant's Trunk anymore and he used to go there every weekend in the 90s. Now it's mostly Redwood and occasionally some of the other special ones that pop up in CT.
I know what you mean about having a massive inventory. I definitely have enough to open a store if I wanted to, but I'm just not ready to sell yet. Thanks for watching.
verry good
Thanks!
These flea markets are insane! Columbus flea market in NJ flipped to selling overseas mass produced junk when I was younger and now down here in SC it’s impossible to find items like this at the flea markets… or they want more than eBay prices. 😢😢😢
Yes, Brimfield is huge! I believe it's the largest flea market on the east coast and one of the biggest in the country. Luckily they don't sell a lot of that overseas stuff there.
That i dream of Jeannie mannequin was terrifying.
Yes, it didn't look quite right.
Cool video did your ever do a video of Mom's frog collection?
No, not yet. I don't get over to her house too often, so I don't have a lot of opportunity. Maybe some day.
Would like to buy that box of Coca-Cola stuff with the pencil sharpener in it 👍
I was considering buying that glass.... Maybe next time.
That is the funniest thing you ever said to your mother on video ....HE SLIMED YOU!!
29:15 I am surprised you did not check out the Micronta Multitester from Radio Shack.
I totally missed that. Sometimes I'm overloaded with things to look at.
That would be the Massachusetts Annoying Dropping Ninja Caterpillar. They drop on you and leave their slime just to be annoying, then they play dead until you leave, then clime the tree to drop on someone else. That's how they get their jollies!
Please, Have a video where you show your Mom's Frog collection! I'm actually quite interested in her collection. Which is her favorite? Which is most valuable? 🐸
Maybe someday. She doesn't live with me and a lot of her stuff is in boxes in her basement. I'll see what I can do though.
Just curious on your traveling to fleer markers do you come across sports card's like baseball , basketball and football card's like vintage from 1950 baseball and football and 1961 fleer basketball wilt chamberlain rookie card and Jerry west and Bob cousy Celtics
I live in Connecticut canton ct near Avon ct and we don't have a flea market near us and the closest is Danbury and Plainville ct about 60 to 75 minutes from me.
Sometimes, but not a lot. All I usually see is the junk from the late 80's to mid-90s.
29:44 which one are you missing? I have a few.
I'll have to check....
Poor Mom getting attacked by Pokemon at the flea market
Yeah, that was weird. I've never seen a caterpillar fall from a tree and explode on impact.
Tom you passed by the comic books.
Yeah, I haven't been adding to my comic collection for a while. They are usually very picked over at Brimfield and generally in poor condition. Not wortht time any more.
What year and month is this one?
September 2024. That was the latest one. They don't reopen until May this year.
The battery compartments are usually a mess and unfortunately those games are not worth much. Everytime I find one I remember as a kid I think it’s going to be valuable…. Fail! 😂
True. If I can't get the battery compartment open to check for leakage, I'll skip it. I'm not so worried about what they are worth anymore. I just want to buy as many as I can. I'm really on the lookout for the Coleco mini-arcades from the 80's. Those one usually go for quite a bit though.
@@fleabittenadventures I just learned Coleco was a Connecticut based company like two weeks ago. It was one of those mind blown it all makes sense moments.
Does Tom’s mom get hazard pay for this unfortunate event on the set of the show? 😂
I cleaned her off and bought her an ice cream cone. She was happy.
Pronounced "Klee Co Club"
Thanks! I would not have been able to guess that.
That was a tomato worm, I’m pretty sure - they’re nasty things!
I think you're correct. That's sure what it looks like. I'm still not sure why it exploded when it fell on my mom.
