That's just beautiful. Your technique, tone, everything is just wonderful, the song is very expressive. I love how the melody plays over the ringing bass notes. Thanks for your music.
Would love a video about your songwriting. I love your technique and as a student myself I can appreciate how hard it is… this thing you’re doing. But I’d love to know what inspires the song itself, where the ideas come from, and especially the story behind this one. Never stop creating these for us! Thank you for all that you do for us out here in the world with your music.
OXY is a pure beauty!! this is so sweet and full of musicality.... thank you Thomas for the emotions you give sharing your music!!! loved it so much it goes on my favourite list of course!! Musical greetings from Switzerland....
You are an incredible player. I just ran across your videos and can't get enough. The Weissenborn guitar is a fasinating instrument. Thanks for posting.
Fabulous! I'm very inspired to note that you aren't using fingerpicks. I'm trying to train myself to use them for added clarity and volume. I don't have a Weissenborn instrument yet. I play a lot of slide on my Breedlove acoustic. I've always preferred the more organic tone to that of resonator guitars. Thank you, Thomas. Beautifully done.
found you by accident on youtube. Loved always the Weissenborn sound (David Lindley etc). Love your playing, it motivates me to get one when I´m retired and learn to play. Bought your album on iTunes. Thanks for your work and come to Germany!
***** If your are to find one true love or a non living object in your life, let it be that of a Weissenborn. Love it with all your heart and i'm telling you it will love you back like you could only dream of. Do not wait until you retire, because the only regret you will have in purchasing one, is that you didn't pick one up earlier. Phil - NZ
***** and Phil Galley: Thank you for the encouragements. Appreciate it, that you guys took the time to comment! I´ll see - so much goin' on at the moment in my life. Meanwhile I´ll listen as much as possible on all my long car rides to Weissenborn (and also dobro, lapsteel etc) playing guitarists (and yes, I´m always thankful for new names I maybe don´t know) . If you are on facebook, you can find me under: Georg Karlstetter
Fantastic playing and a great song. Does anyone know the tuning? It's driving me nuts trying to work it out. I thought it was CGCCGC but thats not it! - Thomas? Anyone?
Funny that, 4 years later, I just listen again to this piece, realize that I made a reply (I had forgotten), to which you replied one week ago... Thing is, I did. I began to learn the weissenborn 2 years ago, and 1/no, I don't regret, you were right, and 2/ if you're curious about it, have a look at my channel, I produce quite a lot these days.
@@StevesSlideandJazz I certainly won't stop ! (before physical limitations get me, that is). And, I don't know if that has any significant influence on the world, but creating music for sure helps to be a better man.
I'm sure you have strong opinions on the right and wrong way to play a Weissenborn or Dobro, and yes both Derek and Jerry are amazing players in their own right, but I am positive that neither of them would say anything negative about Thomas's playing or his choice of song. It's way to easy to criticize when you have nothing to lose. I'm sorry to call you out on this but imho the song may be slow but it is beautiful and Thomas is an amazing player with great intonation.
Wow. Sitting on a large wooden dock about 24 inches above the water in the evening, watching the fireflies listening to the quiet and this? Nice.
When man and instrument become one. Beautiful piece, beautiful guitar, perfect technique.
I am quite surprised that there are still people that cannot tell the difference between fast and good.
beautiful,emotional,soulful,restful,bluesy . . . beyond words . . . wow !!!

I want to know what the signal chain is on this - sounds terrific!
I love the quiet yet complex spaces that you explore, Thomas. The fine recording technology allows for a clear transmission of your fine music.

I've never seen you use a capo, but if you ever have the need for one Martin Gross makes a real nice one special made for the Weissenborn. Peace!

Fantastic playing and a great song. Does anyone know the tuning? It's driving me nuts trying to work it out. I thought it was CGCCGC but thats not it! - Thomas? Anyone?
Looks like CGCGCE. Listen to some of the chords where the major third is the top note, including in the harmonics
wow
That was amazing. Can anybody tell me what the tuning is?
Looks like some kind of a custom one. Tab is available here: www.theweissenborninformationexchange.com/tablature.html
Makes me want to play the weissenborn...

This was written in rehab?

Who can hear the metronome at the begining?! :D
Boring. Anyone can play slow open tuned slide and make it sound good. Get some Jerry Douglas or Derek Trucks in there mate.
let me guess , you are the first dislike

Or the only one with knowledge and skill?

after skill its how the musician channels there energy through the instrument
