Like John ‘Hannibal’ Smith said from the A Team “I love it when a plan comes together!”
You sir are a true master of your craft!! My son threw a golf ball and put a nice dent in the door of my f-150. I have limited experience in pdr but your videos have inspired me to invest in the right tools and give it a shot. Keep up the amazing videos!
Sorry for the very late reply! I get a swarm of comments sometimes so find it hard to reply to them all. Hopefully by now you have all the tools and a few years experience under your belt. 😉
Again we did the repair perfectly well. Let's continue. From Mexico his student No. 1
Thanks for taking the time to share with those of us who are trying to learn this technique.
Your results are truly amazing. I am impressed with your work.
You are AMAZING sir ! Your so detailed in explaining things . I have learned so much from you keep up the good work my friend . Love to meet you in person one day

Fantastic Jake!!!
Great work and thanks for the video .
Wow that was fast. Took me hours to do a similar dent on a Kia hood. Great job!
It helped that the access was great and the pivot point for the chain lever was in a comfortable position. 👍
I really like this fog. Cant wait till you show how to make it
Beautiful work
Hi jake,i like your work,i learn alot

Wow!!!!! You are a master on body line jobs. My god!!! Excellent job, congratulations!!!
Thank you, I do probably at least one a day!
Thank you again Jake. The split screen showing both sides of the panels are very helpful to those of us studying the craft. Will you show us how to make portable PDR LED Light soon? Thank you!
hi jake, would really like to see a video on how you made that light looks like its great for outdoor work,

@@1st_track_dents Thanks Jake
Good afternoon Jake, you passed your magic wand across that dent and it's gone. Seriously, that's a heck of a repair. You do have your game down to a science don't you. Thanks for a excellent Sunday afternoon video. You take care and have a good week.
Thanks Steve, glad you enjoyed it, I didn't plan to film this one as I had a few jobs that day so I didn't go to the production lengths that I normally go to, although I think I managed to get some good footage. Thanks again for watching and have a great week too!
Super video super Erklärung
Greetings from Italy You are the best!!!!
Thank you so much 😊
Great vid. I have one of those to do !!!!
Thanks Steven, good luck with it:-)
Very good job, as always!!
Those dents are tricky, they look quite easy but they have soft and hard parts to push, and you have to choose very carefully the tips to be used.
The same to the force applied in each metal section.
Congrats!
Thanks, yes you are totally right, I should have mentioned how you have to be so careful when using so much force under a dent like this as it is so easy to slip with nylon and plastic tips and create more damage!
@@frogmanvc Hi, actually the metal wasn't stretched on this dent, the main reason for using the plastic tip on this job was that the underside of the panel was completely exposed, so I didn't wan't to leave any marks on the underside and I needed a sharp tip to finish this dent off. You do need to be very careful with these tips though as they have a tendency to slip, so a firm grip of the bar is needed.
Hey Izzy, there is no problem using soft tips to start a dent, the skill I believe is knowing when to change tips, as carrying on with the wrong tip could end up stretching the metal, starting with a sharp tip can also create damage too. When cold shrinking, if the metal is really stretched a sharp metal tip would be best as plastic can blunt quite easily. I tape my tools all the time, there is nothing wrong with doing that. I would develop your own style, PDR was very new when I started back in the1990's so there wasn't many people who could do it, therefore no one could give me bad advice. I learn't the basics from one guy and I just found my own style, I'm always willing to listen to other techs here on UA-cam and learn more, although I will always do what I feel is best. I'll try and address some of your issues in future videos!
@@frogmanvc Feel free to post this response. I have a long list of videos that I want to get through and one of them is about interchangeable tool tips. It's a bit of a juggling act working out on the road, doing UA-cam videos and spending time with my family, so bear with me, i'm trying to find time to get it all done! all the best.
would love to get you perspective on one to see what it looks like using one of those and old school in conjunction can be a bonus
reason i’d like you opinion on the use of one of those is that i see in action on you tube i seen quite a few vids and does an amazing job so quickly, but when you see the light reflection on the panel it looks like the light pattern distorts unlike seeing the way you do it, your lines seems to go back linear again and the heat reduction seems to show signs of raises in the reflected image
will make a good addition to your impressive videos
Yes, it stretches the metal upwards, and when it cools it goes down. Although it looks like it would be easy to over heat and pull it up too high, no doubt there is a lot to learn before using one of these tools and in the wrong hands I'm sure some damage could be done! If I can get my hands on one, I may do a video on using one.
Amazing! What diference do you think using this Edgy hanger against a hook with ring, Jake? Many thanks!
Parabéns belíssimo trabalho valeu abraço
Wow, perfectionist..!!!!
Fenomenal Job great demonstration like your videos keep up the good work greetings from beautiful sunny California Los Angeles 818👍👍👌

Thanks!
so good! everytime i get a dent on my car, it always comes with a paint chip :\
More videos please!!!
Can you please make a video about the tools you use and the ideal situation of when to use them? Thanks.
Hi, yes, I need to update some of my tools, but I can maybe do a video of some of the most commonly used tools that I use at some point.
Hi and thanks for the videos Jake. How do you power your heat gun? I’ve recently gone mobile on my own and I use a small blow torch which kinda makes my arse twitch. I don’t always have access to electricity so just wondered how you experienced techs deal with this. Thanks again for putting these videos out.
Hi Travis, yes I know what you mean. I generally always work where there is power, although I know some of the USA techs are using a battery powered Heat gun kit that looks and sounds interesting, not sure how long the battery lasts though? here is a link to the Milwaukee one you can check out: www.milwaukeetool.com/Products/Power-Tools/Specialty/Heating-Tools/2688-21
1st Track Dents thanks for your quick reply and the link . Looking forward to more of your videos.
Great result. How much heat is normally required? I've seen some videos where the heat gun is constantly heating the panel but you only seem to apply it quite sparingly.
I'm always heating the panel, I just cut those sections out of the video sometimes as it saves time for the more interesting parts. I know the tool you are talking about, it's like a grab handle on a suction cup, they do look useful but I haven't invested in one just yet, it would be very handy in winter as the panel does get cold again quite quickly.
@@1st_track_dents thanks.
Hi, great vid. I need your help. I have a vertical sharp crease on my door (from another car's door opening into mine while parked). The crease is only 5cm height and not very deep. It is located about 2 feet below the window seal and about 10 cm from the left door edge (straight down under the door handle). Also it is on a flat area of the door panel (not on a bend like yours was in the vid). What tool would you recommend I buy for this job. Never done this before. Would have gladly asked for pro repair, but there are none in my country. Thanks (Keep in mind also that I can easily remove the door trim to access the door from the inside)
Thanks, creases can be very difficult to do and new PDR tech's start on simple round dents first and it can take them a while to progress to creases. The problem is that there are so many tools to choose from. I would really advise joining an online training school and watch someone show you and describe how to do this and see the tools they are using, however I would advise practicing on a lot of practice panels first as to learn PDR properly you have to make lots of mistakes, that is the only way to learn, so you don't want to go straight in on your dent until you are confident in getting a crease out. Creases are difficult to do as you can afford to make a few mistakes on a round dent and still get it out, but with a crease, you have to be so accurate with your pushes, you only really get one shot at getting it out as if you stray off the centre, you tighten and lock the crease up more and then it can be game over. 👍
Hello thanx for nice videos, where do you get the electricity on street?
I always plug into the mains supply as I am outside the customers house. You can get a power inverter than can run from the car, or use a PDR light from a company that uses drill batteries.
@@1st_track_dents my main problem, the heat gun which runs around 2000wats,glue gun and lights are easy stuff☺thanx for quick answer, videos are really good for some more experience
@@groovedrummer8235 Yes the heat gun is always the problem, there are some flameless gas heat guns on the market although I haven't used them myself so I can't comment on how good they are. There may be another PDR guy on here who has done a review on one.

Hi Jake, just a quick question. What light board do you use? Many thanks
Hi, I actually make my own light boards, initially I couldn't save up enough to buy one as I've had a lot of time off in my career with injuries! The current one I've made works really well so I've just stuck with it. You can check out Stucky, Elimident and Pro Pdr solutions for good PDR lights amongst some other manufacturers. I've just made my own new one which is my best one yet! 👍
@@1st_track_dents thank you for the quick reply Jake!
I’m currently doing my PDR training and using Elimadent board which I really like but no one has any in stock and they have been on back order since August last year 🤦🏻♂️ I tried to use a Stuckey mini and I wasn’t keen on it tbh. You wouldn’t fancy making one to sell by any chance? Lol
@@BigMin100 I'm sure you will be able to buy one soon somewhere, shop around. I'm still testing mine so haven't actually made the final model, I'm using a prototype that I made. 👍
Great work like always!
If you don’t mind me asking,
Is working as a “mobile dent repair” is better than working in a shop/garage? And why?
Hi David, working in a workshop just means you have a lot of overheads, whereas mobile you don't. Most customers like the fact that we come to them as it is much easier for them. All the tools can fit into a car or van so you don't need a huge workshop. For me personally I like to travel around, I would get bored being in a static workshop!
1st Track Dents thank you very much for replying! Is it more profitable being mobile? Does it make any difference on the earnings?
Sorry for stupid questions 🙏😅
1st Track Dents What I was trying to ask was, do you get more orders by being mobile? That’s probably better way to putting it 😅
@@MitinasDeividas It depends on what you want to do, if you want to do all the trade work at dealerships then you would need to be mobile as they wont come to you. But if you want to do retail then I think mobile is probably best. With regards to earnings they are probably about the same, depends if you want to grow and take on staff, with a workshop, there comes a lot more responsibility and you need to be working fixed hours every day. I like to be independent, but who knows what the future holds!
1st Track Dents thanks a lot!
just like to know your thoughts on the heat reduction guns and if you do use them can we see a vid with that also please
yes 10/10 again
when you say 'Heat Reduction Guns' do you mean hot air guns? or flameless heat guns? I only use Hot air guns in my work.
i was seeing heat dent reduction Hot Box where heat draws the panel dents out
@@deandyer5072 Oh yes, I haven't managed to get my hands on one of those yet, although I'm kind of old school, I like to get behind the panel and push dents out!
Got lucky that day
Show friend 🙏👋👋👋
Do you ever use a solid line board Jake... Love the vids👍
Hi, no I don't, I prefer the fog style board, although when I make my next light board I may add a few lines at the edge of the board to help with the finer detail work when nearing the end of the repair.
@@1st_track_dents I would be interested in training if you do it, if not I would definitely give it thought, obviously you would rewarded handsomely 😂 I'm in Ireland so I won't be pooping on your turf 😂💪
@@emmettcoen I just don't have the time or facility to train anyone at the moment sorry, maybe in the not too distant future that might change. Keep putting in the practice in and i'm sure you will do great things :-)
@@1st_track_dents I think you should make it your business! You have the mannerisms, the ability to project your skill and can do it without being condescending... You have it all, I love what you do.. A tag along or shadow experience with you would be priceless! I wouldn't say it otherwise 👍💪
@@emmettcoen Thanks, I really appreciate your comment. let's see what the future brings, i'm still recovering from an injured wrist hence why I have been a bit quiet on UA-cam, hopefully I'll post some new content soon!
I love your videos but they mostly on body lines. An open hood dent would be nice for you to make a video. Could be tiny or large dent so long at it is on an open area of hood / bonnet. One of your competitors does small dings just with blade and sharp tip rods on hoods. If they a larger round dents he slaps them down first using a couple of different ways. But finishes them with blade and sharp tip.... I hope you can make a few hood videos. This would be nice. Please.
Thanks, bodyline dents are the most common dents I get presented with daily so that's probably why. I'm trying to film more repairs so I'm sure I will have some open area dents to do very soon! 👍
hello Jake friend as always good video! Do you think it is possible for you to activate subtitles in Spanish in your videos in order to better understand the tips that you share? I would really appreciate your greetings from Mexico amigo.
I'll look into it.
Hi, I just tried, going through the settings, if you click the settings button on the bottom of the video and then click Subtitles/closed captions and then 'English (Auto-Generated)' then click the 'Auto Translate' button underneath, it should allow you to select 'Spanish'. Let me know if this works and if the translation is any good? All the best, Jake
hello Jake, friend, thank you for your interest in helping me. I commented to you apparently this procedure to translate is only possible with desktop PC and at this moment I do not have one the videos I look at them directly from my mobile phone and in this way it is not possible translate, this is why I asked you for help but if it was not possible there is no friend problem even though your videos are understandable with the images you show and of course I will continue watching them and waiting for you to upload more and more to try to learn about PDR once more thanks for your interest greetings friend!
Like to see dents on door or hood right over crash bars or renforces edges where ther zero room for tools cus the reforce is on the edges
OMG 🚗❤️
great vid, brilliant channel, hate the crappy eurocheezy soundtrack though.
How much did you charge the customer though?
Ai sim top
Nice work . Why can't I ever get good open access to the dent. Lol
I know what you mean, when I opened up the bonnet on this one I nearly fell over, couldn't believe my luck on the positioning!

Very good. Can you put Spanish subtitles please? Thanks you. From Argentine
Thank you, you can use the 'Auto Translate' feature and translate them into Spanish 👍

Очень интересно но ни хрена не понятно.

Amazing! What diference do you think using this Edgy hanger against a hook with ring, Jake? Many thanks!
Hi Paulo, I quite like the strengthened saddle design at the bottom of the ring it gives me good leverage, it also grips well into small holes and is quick and easy to swap into other holes without it getting stuck. Also the fact that it is bright green, means I can quickly find it in my tool box and hopefully won't leave it behind when I have left the job!
