The Most Amazing Homecoming for World War II Veterans - Honor Flight Chicago

- On May 14, 2013, I was waiting for my delayed flight at Chicago's Midway Airport when I noticed Navy Shipman gathering and forming some sort of line. Onlookers like myself didn't know if it was a flash mob or what.
But they told me they were here to surprise a plane full of surviving World War II Veterans. The Vets had no idea they would return home to such fanfare, but you can see in their eyes how touched they were by this.
By the time it got started, no one in the building cared at all about the delayed flights, we were just grateful to be in the presence of true American Hero's.
....aaaaaand now I'm crying.
The heroes are the ones who came home on six or eight pairs of boots rather than than the pair they wore, that said the individuals who deplaned at Midway airport are in their twilight years if any are still alive and I wish them well
This is how veterans should be treated❤❤
g-d bless you
sirs
and ma'am s
And by now they're likely all gone. But never forgotten. Big difference to the Vietnam vets who were spat upon and still don't get enough respect.
Each and every one an American hero!!!
Favorite part is the escorting service members that just can't keep a straight face.
Things like this just make me happy. The so deserve to be honored.
My Great Uncle (whom my grandmother was very close to) never made it home from WW2.
I always feel like when I am honoring one of them I am honoring him.
God bless every one of these guys.
My Dad Raymond F Spitzer served at Pearl Harbor up until the day before it was bombed, he was honorably discharged and came home. That was before my time, but have always been very proud of the fact he served his country. Proud of my Brother Doran G Atwater for serving in Vietnam, even though people werent very nice to them when they came home. Those were the draft dodgers and cowards. He came home, but wasnt quite the same. I can only imagine what all veterans have to endure regardless if at war or not. Thank a Vet today
These are real veterans.
As opposed to??
Any man or woman who has served to any capacity is a vet. God bless them all. But as well God bless those brave men and women who chose and were drafted. We owe everything to them.
@@Cutter1018 as opposed to stolen Valor fakes.
I just came across this video
Makes me feel good, they have of themselves so others could enjoy freedom, sadly some of them might not be with us any longer, America must remember that the freedom we enjoy was give through sacrifice , and blood, all veterans should always be treated with respect. I am a veteran, my 2 sons are veterans
We did our duty to ensure freedom. Always remember those we lost, those that were injured, those that endured.
And on Fridays wear red shirts to pay respect to those still in the service and those we lost and those that sacrificed.
Just my thoughts
Thank all you veterans for your service, and thanks to the gold star families
Thank you for your service.

We thank You for your Service.. God Bless them all.
It is a shame there has been no movie explaining where they all were and why they had to wait so long for their well earned (though minimal) home coming parade.
This just makes me smile!!
Those red shoulder epaulettes are worn by boot camp company commanders, probably from RTC at Great Lakes. The two stripers are "boots".
God
I miss the military
That one whistler is killing my ears 😓
