RIGHT?? I was born in 2003 so I completely missed the era but in my heart I’ve always known (and been told honestly) that I was born in the wrong generation. Music nowadays kind of sucks... I wish I could time travel to back when this kind of music was most popular
How these guys weren't bigger is completely beyond me. Both from having listened to them for nearly 3 decades and from having seen them on the 25th anniversary tour for this album. Easily one of the best concerts I have ever seen.
I got fired from a classic rock station and went a collage alternative rock station and said wow , this is the next big thing but music ain't organic cs its planned and around this time baby girl solo singers were being pushed ...gets deeper
@franz909 : This particular album and single came out in 1993 at the zenith of the grunge/post-grunge take-over of the Mainstream. The girl-pop and boy-band backlash was another five years off. We had to go thru nü-metal and mid-'90s rap-rock (Godsmack, Korn, Limp Bizkit, et. al.), first
One of my best memories of Seattle was trying to find the record store they were doing a record release for Amazing Disgrace in...couldn't find the damn place till I see Ken and his pink hair walking down the street. I followed him right to the record store.
Reminds me of seeing him just hanging out in the crowd for the opening act on their 25th anniversary tour for frosting. That was an amazing show. Definitely a contender for best club show I've ever seen.
I heard this song today on the radio, and it was the absolute first time I heard it. The radio station was having a block of 90s rock, and they played it because someone requested it. I grew up in the 90s. HOW THE HECK DID I EVER MISS OUT ON THIS ONE???!!!
It's weird how people think anything that came out in the 90's that was heavier rock music was grunge. The Posies were Power Pop/Alternative Rock nothing more nothing less.
Arguably the most underrated band of the nineties; and as a Lagwagon fan, I'm curious to as what type of material Lagwagon would have ended up belting out if Ken Stringfellow ended up recording another record or two with them
The posies are a great mix of styles, fantastic to listen to, and you can hear every word of the poetry. I just love 'Every Kind of Light', with it's change of tempo from number to number, and it even contains a serious blues song, fantastically performed. It just lifts your spirits. Don't ever stop!
I fucking love this album....still listen to it all the time to this day....melodies that are so sweet you get a toothache.....and they knew it too, hence 'frosting' and 'flavor'. Essential.
I had heard this several years back and never knew the name of the song, the melody just infected my mind. Finally, I heard on the radio yesterday and used my song identification app to figure it out. Wow! This is a great song, just feels timeless and of its era at the same time.
I remember the first time I ever heard this song as a kid in the 90's, I flipped out. This song still makes me spaz today at the end of 2012. It's bliss.
This is in my top 5 tracks, of all time! Absolutely beautiful. The album is in the top 5, also!😍🥰😍🥰😍 A friend recorded Mr. Bungle on one side, of the tape and just decided to stick this on the other. Thank you Jonatan Edwards. Without you, I would never gotten to appreciate this amazing band!
next to Cheap Trick-The Posies are hands down the best power pop band of the modern era! Ken and John's vocal talents are unmatched, which is a huge part of why they are able to play with Alex Chilton and do complete justice to Big Star songs! Listen to ALL the Posies material if you like beautiful melody and harmonies.....vastly underrated!!!!!!!!!
I definitely remember watching this when i was about 5. . . my dad had a vhs that he got from a guy that had this, acoustic version of solar sister, golden blunders and the germs cover on it. I just played it over and over! My childhood right here :)
I actually did watch a lot of MTV back in the day, but I'll be honest and say that I never got to watch much of 120 Minutes back then. At least I did find out about The Posies at all, even if it was just two years ago. Better late than never.
I actually consider this “pop grunge”. “Power Pop” is more like Cheap Trick or The Babys (they sang “Every Time I Think of You” & “Isn’t it Time”). Neither of those two bands has grunge sound. This song, however, has grunge elements. The two band members were born & raised in the state of WASHINGTON & California ... (Seattle grunge started in Washington state.)
First time I ever listened to The Posies was the album Frosting On The Beater, which starts of with this absolute masterpiece. Loved The Posies ever since!

One of my favorite songs of my 14th year. Also loved Belly's "Feed the Tree" which had a really similar video. All you needed was a forest and the rotating cam. 1993.
Even though Ken's personal transgressions have somewhat tarnished this band's legacy, I'll still enjoy this rockin' tune as one of my favorites from the 90's. #RIPPosies
Power Pop. Not grunge. The album is stellar from start to finish. A real keeper.
Hot!
Grunge.
It's almost a power pop template
doesn't really matter. seems like the only people who really care about genres, like to fight, gatekeep and put others down. screw labels
@@Tsureiki Came here to say this. Rock on. Or Roll, whatever.
You can't be more 90's than this.
💲
I would raise you a Matthew Sweet but you are correct!
You can try but that would be so Seattle.
This still is phenomenal.
...early '90s, yes
I used to work in a store selling guitars for 10 years in France, Jon was a regular customer. Great guy and great guitar player !
Damn If only we could go back. The best era... the best music. Authenticity...
RIGHT?? I was born in 2003 so I completely missed the era but in my heart I’ve always known (and been told honestly) that I was born in the wrong generation. Music nowadays kind of sucks... I wish I could time travel to back when this kind of music was most popular

This song was pretty big

How bad I miss the 90s.... 😢
One of the best songs ever made. In my top ten.
I get shivers listening to this; was a magical time in my life.
Same here!
sort of reminds me of blue oyster cult, love it
One of my favorite songs. Great production.
This song is golden.
I surely did. You?
Oh, that's such a long time ago. Uhm, could be 'Fuzzy' by Grant Lee Buffalo before and 'Underwhelmed' by Sloan after f.e.
Golden Blunders come in pairs
I concur ;)
It sure is :)
the part from 1:44 -1:58 is the best. Get that shit suck in my head all day. Wish they played it longer.

This song was magical when it was released, still is
One of the greatest "drum" albums of all time! Mike is/was an unreal drummer. Love it
I agree! the drumming on this song is killer. That was the first thing i noticed when my GF introduced me to them in the late 90s
now that you said , really the drums are all over the place. the song isnt bad but compared to the drums, the guitar solo is a fart
Ok have another beer dood!
@@EugenioHertz It's an anti-solo bro. Guitar playing is incredible on this entire record. Vocals obviously amazing, and yes the drums are god-tier.
Hey!
This is how I imagine the Beatles would sound if they were reincarnated as a grunge band. Always loved this song.
great comment dude. 🙅♂️
The 80s Beatles: XTC
The 90s Beatles: The Posies
Nothing even remotely resembling the Beatles here
Not really grunge.
@@m56wr4t6 I hear it a bit, there's a little bit of psychdelia in the elements of the album

chrisradano welp. You still kicking & Rocking & Rolling? Just about 50 now. Good luck
Damn, now youll soon be 50 and theres still people reading this comment and daydreaming all day

this would be the soundtrack to my life.
The Posies! As a Seattle native I saw them live alot mid to late '90s, nice harmonies, good music, I still have their CD's in my collection.
Jonny's hitting the big Five-O this year, isn't he?
Saw them frequently in Portland as well. Great harmonies and they toured frequently with Nirvana. An era we will never see again in our lifetimes.
Summer of 93 was just incredible for alternative music.
I turned 16 that June

This music video is so '90s. I like the inexplicable smoke...
+Jinruigaku The smoke comes from the big giant joint they were smoking...
ahhhh... the 90's
i guess that explain it all, good to know after all these years and the fact that back then beavis and butthead never clear this up
It's weird how people think anything that came out in the 90's that was heavier rock music was grunge. The Posies were Power Pop/Alternative Rock nothing more nothing less.
music is the best time machine ever
Love this tune. Seattle Grunge meets Psychedelic Pop. Makes me miss the 90's.
Totally 90s man
Like Jellyfish, another underrated band from the '90s.
100% all American rock -n- roll

This song takes me back.
but do you dream all day about it?

Bob head. Rock back and forth. Flip hair. Look into fan. Rock out dudes. One of my all time favorite albums.
I would love to have a loop into the 90's forever when it comes to music!
The perfect marriage of heavy and light. The Everly Brothers of the modern era. Fabulous
Second sentence does not match the first. Was there about the Everly Brothers that was not simply honey and sugar?
BilisNegra I see where you are coming from. I mean that the harmonies are as good as the Everlys
@@BilisNegra The harmonies are perfect, like the Everlys. They have the telepathy of brothers

A kick ass song from a great period in music.
Frosting on the Beater was one of the best albums of the 90's than never made anybody's "best of" list. Apparently, 593,269 people know better.
