- These kkwabaeggi (꽈배기), or twisted donuts, were one of my favorite after-school treats when I was a kid, something you can still find in many Korean bakeries and being sold on Korean streets today.

I’ve been using this recipe for over 4 years! (ever since covid) I took them to the park to share with friends and they always ask me to make it for them hahaha I love this recipe sooo much thank you for helping me make great memories with my friends

3 cups all purpose flour for doughnuts, plus 2 tablespoons for dusting
2 tablespoons butter
1 packet of dry yeast (about 2¼ teaspoons: 7 grams)
5 tablespoons white sugar
1 cup milk
1 egg
½ teaspoon kosher salt
corn oil for frying
½ teaspoon cinnamon powder
3 of the 5 tablespoons of sugar is to use with the cinnamon in the paper bag in case you thought it's for the dough like me ;)
Can I refrigerate half of the uncooked dough and cook it the next day?
May I know 3 cups of flour is about how many grams. Thanks
@@mariheroma3698 No, the yeast dies. You have to cook all and than refrigerate. :)
@@ireneyapguatngoh5019 I honestly don't know but what I do know is that it's all about proportion. 10g of dry yeast does 1000g of flour, use the amount of yeast you gonna use to measure the amount of flour, like of you gonna use 5g of dry yeast you gonna need 500g of flour. I hope I helped in someway :)

Yes we make it differently in different African countries. In my country we do not use yeast or egg so this is interesting for me. I want to try this. I always wondered why Chinese cream doughnuts that I buy were so airy and fluffy. Now I know it might be the yeast. I love this lady. She has definitely opened my eyes to Korean cuisine. I only knew of bulgogi!

These bring back wonderful memories. My mum, dad, sister and I used to eat these with tea on cold autumn mornings before going to school back in the early eighties. It’s just dad and I now, but I’m going to have to make this! Thank you for the recipe. It doesn’t look all that difficult to make. ❤️

We made them last night and we ate them almost all only 3 left i went to the market came home and they were gone...this recipe is by far thee most delicious recipe ive ever ever made and im a really well seasoned cook and baker candy maker cake decorator bread maker and this recipe is the only donut recipe ive ever made that has been really light fluffy and that crunch thin outter layer of crunch then this fluffy delightful soft airy dough oh my gosh. I think they asked me to make a double batch again today because someones mother has been craving a good warm donut and this recipe just cant get any better than this its perfection!

I am from Japan and visiting my fiancé in the U.S.
It's so difficult to cook him now that I am in a country I had never been since this holiday visit.
I stress out when I cook now.
Reading recipes in English and using pounds and inches, products' name are unfamiliar and such.
I had almost lost the interest in cooking but this was easy to follow and my fiancé loved them and ate 10 of those in 2days!!! His smile made me happy and want to cook more for him.

My girls are devouring these this morning.. 'Can you make these every day, dad?' ^_^
Other than the frying thing at the end (I managed to guess the right temperature and left them to cool over night for something in the morning) these are really fun to make. I'll admit that they taste very much like dougnuts but they look and seem to taste better when you make something for yourself and the girls think they are better than regular dougnuts at the shop so YAY!
Its probably not the best time of year to make these but certainly a winter warmer this time of year for anyone in the UK.
