  • SAS Tactical Survival Bow VS Primal Gear Unlimited Survival Bow
    Here is a comparison video between the SAS and the PGU. Comparing the two bows in materials, arrow speed, poundage, penetration, decibels, special features, and comfort. This has been an interesting and long video of testing processes and research to insure and capture the differences and similarities. Both bow performed very well in the testing processes and are great tools. It really comes down to personal preference and special features when deciding which bow is better suited for your needs. Hope you enjoy the video, and please comment with any questions thank you.

      I was just thinking the same thing - sooo good. I have the SAS Tactical Survival and love it. If I was going to do it again, would get the limited edition Recon. It is a couple of inches longer, but you don't need to unscrew, flip an screw the limb around. I think the only real option is to have both since 2 is 1. Thanks for a great vid.

      Truth.... I have been researching what happened to them, and I can't find much. Ether they just went out of business, or sold out to china and receive royalties. Because China made the LX survival bow, almost an exact copy of the PGU, but actually added some awesome features, not that I like china made shit, but I will be doing a review on it...

    Hey no shooting in the house! Jokes I do itonce in a while! This has to be the most thorough test I have ever seen of a bow comparison, must have taken a lot of time and research to do this review, I can appreciate how much work you put into this. Well done. DOes your PGU have a slight curve to it from all the shots you have taken over the years? I was lucky enough to get a 65# version, unfortunately they were discontinued so it had a lot more power than the 55#. I personally prefer the SAS as shooter, its more ergonomically suited to my hands. I find the PGU has more sharply corned edges which aren't compatible with my grip. I agree about archers paradoz and the potential bolt loss, I recall those where my two main issues. As you say it comes down to preference, I prefer the smaller more compact form factor and smooth grip, but it would be nice to have a shelf, a quicker setup and rubber grip! Thanks again for an amazing review, you really know your stuff far more than I, I learned a lot from this vid.,

      +Canadian Prepper Ha ha ha... That was my office on the warehouse I was shooting out of... LOL It was a lot of work testing, filming, research and putting this video together, but I wanted to capture as many of the elements of these bows as I possibly could. I am a person that has to understand the mechanics behind something before I can truly understand it. No the PGU hasn't curved at all and I have also had it strung for a year and the limbs are still as strait as the day I bought it. I agree that the SAS has some cool features and really like the compactability, but it is hard for me to get over the archers paradox. I will be doing more testing with the SAS and bringing it on some coyote hunts, so we will see how it holds up in the long run. Thank you for the awesome positive feedback, it means a lot coming from you. I respect you and your opinion very much. Thanks for watching my friend... atb Todd

      after watching both yours and Canadian Preppers videos on these bows, I may have to go with the primal just for the fact that when I go on hikes and camping trips I have a larger (in height 28inches) bag and it is more simple on making it ready to shoot. Good Job on the videos guys

Currently trying to get my money back as I purchased a bow and haven't received anything past an automated order received email.

If they did go out of business or bankrupt wish they would have put something on their website since this has been going on since the beginning of the year. That was the BEST review possible! You answered every question that was likely to be posed. You gave both bows a long testing period. You tested using the most scientific method possible. You went over the different features. You gave your personal opinion at the end which is important - you are a credible source from the amount of work you clearly put into the testing. That was an amazing review, but you sounded TIRED through it and I think we all know why! Great review!

    but after this video I'm leaning toward to the Primal Gear one.

      Pgu is the way to go love the bow. Quick set up and take down pretty good speed and not as loud changing the rest to skin and adding thin leather to the limbs is easy and doesnt really effect fps what so ever i havent used any string silencing but using the thin leather actually makes it even more snug when it folds up to reduce carry noise. And it is so easy to change limbs as well

      You are welcome, it was a long process, but needed to be done... To many people where taking the SAS as a faster bow then the PGU, which is not true. And they where also saying how much easy the SAS was to operate? Made no sense to me, so I had to do a comparison video. Trust me, both companies saw this video, and took a step back of how much detail was done in testing there product. I still prefer the PGU, not because they are a great company to work with, but just a great product!!! Thanks for watching!!

As you know I got the opportunity to go out with you and shoot both bows and I have to say that the PGU was hands down the clear winner in my opinion, performance, accuracy and ease of use all fell in the favor of the PGU again in my opinion and I will be buying a PGU in the near future.

      +Bentley's Backwoods Bushcraft Thank you, it was a intense testing process... It is a great tool, just make sure you get an extra arrow rest, and limb lug bolt. And when you are done shooting, or just regularly re-tighten both lug bolts. I had one fall off in the car and thankfully you can tell something is wrong when it is missing the small bolt after one or two shots, makes a funny rattle. And I found it again. Then I lost it one more time after breaking it down into the case. But I found it again, LOL. I can see where it would be good practice to re-tighten after shooting it... Or before... Sorry for the super late comment, just returning to UA-cam and working on new content. Yes, seen that on the SAS. I actually ordered the new SAS compact to do a review on the new LX survival bow, and the old PGU. PGU unfortunately went out of business... I did a recent video on it.. The LX survival bow is a direct copy of the PGU, but unfortunately it is made in China... Thanks for watching

    GREAT review, much appreciated! I would go with the PGU as well, just from the ergonomics, and simplicity in design. I did notice one more variable in the limbs that would account for some of the faster speed of the PGU. If you look at the limb tips side by side, the PGU limbs at the string cut outs is narrower than the SAS which will reduce resistance from the wind, thereby giving a very slight advantage in limb return speed over the SAS. Just my two cents.

      Thank you!! It was a process, but I wanted to do a full comparison and review. I have had them for awhile now and really enjoy shooting. I am glad I could help you on your decision. Questions that had no answer were answered here, Silencers reduce 2-3 fps what? Man if i had teachers like you growing up... nice compare, I am new to these collapsable bows, am going to purchase 1, this test video helps very much, looks like both are great, going to go with PGU because it is just simple assembly, I don't even want to deal with loosing a part or arrow rest, I don't want to deal with compensation of aim either, I am a south paw and I already have to account for some of that, I like both, but fast easy build, and no removal of parts wins my vote and probable purchase.😎👍

But I will look at doing a video like this again for sure, I am actually doing one right now on request of another subscriber, the PGU and SAS vs the Marksman sling shot bow, by pathfinder... Seems to be 6 of one half dozen of the other and why not there very similar in all aspects and 1 or 2 fps at least to me doesn't matter - so its going to come down to ease of use , durability and functionality and these are probably close to the same as well- preferences will be big also example- one you can carry the arrows inside the bow itself the other needs a quiver but the quiver once attached makes it easy to access , see what I mean. so its awesome this man did all this o confirm for us we ave more than 1 choice in gear!

    ive had an sas bow for 6 mths now and am very pleased with it , the size and quality is what sold me and the ability to hide and protect the arrows in the riser is ideal to stop arrows being damaged or getting caught up in the bush , the bow fits perfectly in my day pack and when hiking through populated areas to get to more isolated areas no one knows that im going hunting, which suits me fine. the pouch on the flap is also a great idea and enables me to carry broadheads, knife survival gear etc.

    • @CentralOregonSurvival
      @CentralOregonSurvival  7 років тому

      Very cool, glad you are happy with it!! Like I said in the video, great piece of gear...!! I personally don't care for the pouch, think it was a throw in item, and really poorly designed. But I am glad you found a use for it. I need to go shoot the one I have more and see if it grows on me more. Have a wonderful holiday season!!! Thanks for the input

    speed is one of the last things i worry about when it comes to bows.. most people will never get the full speed of a bow.. i usually got for a bow that is comfortable for me, not brand specific. the primal looks a little better in the hand.. in the end, bowhunting is about a proper hunt, not a fast arrow

    • @CentralOregonSurvival
      @CentralOregonSurvival  7 років тому +1

      Absolutely!! So true... They put fast arrow speeds on bows that you will never get to increase sales. Like you said, which is very true, proper hunt. I have had many years of hunting and not killing anything, but I enjoy the hunt... Great stuff, thanks for watching

  • @actstuntcam

    The reason for the small difference in poundage is probably to do with the bow length. E.g - I own a Bear Kodiak Take Down - it is rated as 45lbs of draw. However, I opted for the long limbs and long riser. The extra couple of inches in my riser and limbs, drop the poundage to 43lbs @ 28". This is pointed out on 3 Rivers website when you are selecting limbs and risers. Anyway, thought I'd mention it. I really enjoyed your vid and the effort you went into to get the averages (speed, poundage, etc.) Cheers Campbell:)
