When you realize that Fi didn't actually leave you. Every game with the Master Sword in it, she was there, watching over you like a loyal companion and true friend.

But after playing both botw and totk YEARS later the biggest impact of this moment finally struck me because Fi and link did meet in another life, and my peak emotional moment arrived after I found the “hero of the sky” set in totk and saw it says that the set “was once worn by a hero who appeared from the sky riding a mighty bird” It took long time to stop crying after that one
This song is all the sadder when you realize, Fi is always looking for her master again. Every Link that wields her to follow fits the same criteria as the first. Even so much, Link in Oot had to be sealed for years to become the spitting image of the hero of the sky. She's always looking for her master again.
@@gaboo5674 well it was implied in that game as well as some others that the sword had the power to seal the darkness, meaning if it was taken out of ganon's cranium it would no longer be sealing the darkness, and taking it out of the pedestal below Hyrule Castle is what allowed him to have his power back in the first place, so it was kinda necessary
Well… the little Wind Waker boy kind of forced the gods to make him Hero. He wasn’t born with the Spirit of the Hero, since it was sent to the Child Timeline. I think that Wind Waker Link is the most courageous Link, because he didn’t have the divine courage that Hylia gave all other Heroes.
I personally feel much sadder hearing this theme now after seeing the Master Sword apparently in that state of broken. I played Skyward Sword and watched the blade being forged alongside Fi. Sure, she was irritating sometimes, but the farewell cutscene... Oh boy, I hope Nintendo will bring us another little easter egg like in the Trial of the Sword
To this day I still cry when I hear this song. Fi had her annoying moments but I loved her. And it felt like at the end of skyward Sword I had lost a friend and a faithful companion
This song is going to be the most important song I will ever hear. Today on Friday the funeral of my cousin. He was only 19 when he passed. This song was played on a flute that he cherished. A spirit that guides you to the end.

Breath of the Wild adds so much to this: Up until that game, I don't think any Link actually fell wielding the Master Sword. Actually failed. The japanese version of the game tells you more that Zelda was truly hearing Fi's voice telling her Link could still be saved after falling to the Guardians. We know because the japanese lines convey that Zelda when speaking back to the Master Sword refers to it as a woman, when she puts it away in the Deku Tree's care. And she tells Fi not to worry, that Link will return someday. The first time we know of that things were so desperate that Fi had to reach out and speak again, to save her master, one of the many reincarnations of her old friend whom she hoped to meet again in another life, possibly even growing to care for them all in a way she wasn't able to in life, finally understanding the human spirit that eluded her, especially when it came to the one Link she almost lost.
the little bits of pieces of fi's theme that we hear in tears of the kingdom makes me SO happy you have no idea. just hearing her little sound made me so emotional i love fi so much
How can anybody hate fi , she helped link when he was stuck at puzzles in 2011 we didn’t yet have videos of them so it was a pain in the ass but she made it easier
Seeing the master sword stuck in the stone in the games after skyward sword now makes me remember that Fi was always inside of it, even in ocarina of time, watching and waiting for a new master, passing down on many generations of Links
At times I come back to this song as a way of comfort, me and my mom played through this game when I was around 10, no this is not one of those story’s where I play through the game my mom dies and I beat the game without her, instead it’s a story where she slowly lost her memory through Alzheimers disease, she no longer remembers anything about our time playing this game. However this song saps me straight to my core as I know Fi’s farewell was almost like a farewell to my mom.
This is honestly one of the most poignant moments in gaming and the music makes it that much better. Such an incredible soundtrack in general. Would love to see her come back some day.

The last true Zelda game. Fitting as it is the first in the story. Don't get me wrong breath of the wild is amazing and I expect the sequel to be great too, but to me it isn't the same as a story driven dungeon based game. Shrines are not the same
At the end of the Trial of the Sword in BotW, the Master Sword makes the iconic Fi notification sound. And after it does, Link closes his eyes and looks down at the sword. Clearly Link can hear her. Something no other Link could do except the one in Skyward Sword :0
