"Tell me the truth... How proficient are you right now wielding that sword on your back? Legend says that an ancient voice resonates inside it. Can you hear it yet...hero?"
Its actually a quote from breath of the wild when zelda asks link if he can hear the ancient voice i know this is kind of late but I just wanted to point that out.
Yes. While the health and battery thing bugged me, I actually don't think I was as annoyed by Fi as most were. Though Midna was definitely more of a relatable companion, I think Fi's the coolest lore-wise. Her goodbye hit me real hard out of nowhere.
There's been little references to Skyward Sword in Breath of the Wild; When you complete the Trial of the Sword DLC, you get a little motif of Fi's Theme & you can hear her responding, indirectly, to the Link in that timeline. (By the way, the Master Sword that's been powered up deals a whopping 60 damage!)
*May we meet again, in another life* Since I've gotten older, these words have become more emotional and heartfelt. Every time you held the master sword, she was there. Even if Midna, Navi or even the King Of Red Lions was Link's main guide, Fi was always there. She was true to her word and has even saved a hero's life. This is why Fi will always be one of my favourite companions.
She saved Botw Link's life by lettin' BotW Zelda know that the Shrine of Resurrection a.k.a. the Shrine of Life could save his life 'cuz he wasn't dead yet, just unconscious from his life-threatenin' injuries. When Link was badly injured with them life-threatenin' injuries by the Guardians' energy beams, the Master Sword was badly damaged AND ruined. Nicked, cracked, AND rusted 'cuz her master was badly hurt by the projectiles, AND 'cuz he was gonna die! The Master Sword's condition was tied to his physical health, mental health, AND spiritual health, so when he was given life-threatenin' injuries, the sword was reflectin' its master's condition by bein' badly damaged, too. It reflected Link at his best (morals, love, compassion, kindness, selflessness, loyalty, concern fer folks he helped out) AND his worst (his sins with pride, selfishness, recklessness, doubts, fears, impatience). When HE was put in the shrine, put on life support, and healed, the Master Sword was fully restored with Fi's power, AND it totes undid the battle damage. She learned that she had limits, so she wanted ta make damn sure that he'd taken back just enough of the "true strength". That's why she came up with the restriction that sapped the wielder's life when he tried pullin' it out. If he didn't have 13 red heart capsules, she'd unintentionally kill 'im. That's her way o' sayin', "Please get the strength back. I don't wanna kill ya, so please get strong again 'fore seein' the sword again, Master Link." The other restriction was limitin' the sword's uses (like most games in the Fire Emblem series) by lettin' its power run out so she recharges it to 100% in 10 min. It's also her way o' sayin', "Even when the Master Sword's fully reawakened, please remember that lettin' it run outta energy IS lettin' me git it back to 100% by rechargin' it every 10 min. Yer recklessness from 100 years ago taught me that even I have limits. Limitin' its power--my energy--means that y'gotta be smarter. Improvise while bein' patient. I don't wanna let ya be that reckless with my energy again, so I let it become unusable by lettin' it run outta energy fer just 10 min. Rinse n' repeat. What I'm teachin' ya is this: Be more cautious. Be smarter with the power. Be wiser with how much is bein' used in normal fights. Don't get careless with it." Maybe Fi was limitin' the energy to protect Link from the temptation to over-rely on its power again, tellin' him ta use its power when it was needed. AND protect the balance between good and evil by limitin' the power, savin' it fer the Calamity Ganon, the Blight Ganons, and the Guardians still corrupted by Calamity Ganon's malice, long after the ones at the swamp was disabled in his original era. After Calamity Ganon was sealed away by Zelda with Hylia's power (AND maybe the Triforce's power), Link reunited with her face-to-face fer, like, the first time in 100 years. In the Japanese version, Link said that he wanted ta see her smile again. Maybe he was like, "I totes gotta get Zelda outta there as fast as I can, 'cuz I wanna see her smile again with my own eyes." He had his wish granted. In the Japanese version, we could clearly see the romantic undertones. The romantic undertones that show us that he was a commoner who was in love with Princess Zelda. They's compatible with each other. He could be her prince consort or king consort someday. The French version of the script has Kass say that Link's gonna be rulin' over a "freed Hyrule" with Zelda as his queen. A commoner (or peasant) becomin' the youngest knight, the youngest cap'n of the princess's guard, the bodyguard, the ruined kingdom's savior in the blue outfit AND the green outfit, an' then Zelda's hubby who could be the first Link to be the prince consort. Or king consort.
I was one of the few people that didn't mind Fi. She was tasked with the sole duty to guide Link onward by primarily reminding the player that they should go save the world instead of messing around.
Agreed. Fi's the best and I never found her annoying. Except for when she told me to take a break. Like, no, I don't give a crap that I've spent 8 hours straight on Skyward Sword I'm tryna save Zelda here
Master There is something I have to say Even now, my consciousness fades away But I wish to tell you That we will meet again And how precious my time with you has been Listen to The words that I will relay Words told to you On our journey along the way Now I wish to repeat these very same words to you Master I wish to Thank You
Warning, Breath of the Wild spoilers below. . . . . . . This is why the final memory that Impa sends Link to gave me more feels than any other in the game. It's already an emotional scene, as Zelda holds a fallen Link. But when I heard that tell-tale sound of Fi activating, I though my heart was going to stop.
As my wife and I were waiting in the final days before BotW released I told her, "There's really only one thing I truly want from this game. Please, Nintendo - include some kind of nod, some reference, to Fi's presence in the Master Sword. That's all I ask." Having unlocked all the memories and the True Ending... boy, did they ever deliver. I got my wish.
Absolutely fantastic. Fi is actually one of my favorite characters in the Zelda universe. I cried like a baby when her farewell music started playing and she was saying all those sweet things to Link :'( Thank you, Rozen.
Good, yes. One of my fav music channels... but Hans Zimmer is on a completely different level of musical talent. Just listen to The Prince of Egypt soundtrack, you'll know what I mean.
There’s very few things in this world that will make me cry, but saying goodbye to Fi made me ball my eyes out. I grew so close to her, even if she wasn’t as charismatic as the other companions. It was just so sad to tell her farewell and when she hit me with the “may we meet again in another life” line, that hit me even harder. 😭
I’m crying. Fi really was so important and the fact that they had her tell Zelda in breath of the wild how to save Link is why I love her so much besides Skyward Sword. Her theme always brings me to tears.
*Fi when link first met her* Link: oh shit Navi 2.0 *when fi returns to the master sword* Link: (sniffle) naaaaahhh i ain’t crying, there’s dust in my eyes...
Fi was one of the best characters Ever in The Legend of Zelda, this saga is a part of me and had a very big place in the way I live now. Thank you Satoru Iwata,I hope you rest in peace now, with all the characters you created.
This is the greatest remix for this song ever and will be my death theme. Dude. This had me in a pool of my own tears. And immediately from Tears of guilt to tears of joy in a matter of seconds. It is an understatement to say that this is awesome. And to think that people would rather listen to dubstep versions is ridiculous. You sir did such a tremendous job on this. That there isn't words to describe how to feel when I went to listen to others... They came nowhere near this perfected. Well done
It made me shed tears. Truly beautiful. And one of the most heartbreaking farewell in the Zelda series. This and Midna farewell are the most heartbreaking. Awesome work!
I see you everywhere! Haha!! Everytime I run across a musical video that becomes my favorite, I look into the comments only to find that you've appreciated it at well.
You know what’s funny? The fact that I’ve never, NEVER played Skyward sword in my entire life and yet....know the feeling of losing someone whom you’ve grown to love, to appreciate and to respect each and every day as they help you move forwards towards your goal, not as a teacher, not as an assistant, but a useful and very essential key to who you are as an individual. Like Fi for example, Nothing can express the emotion or heartbreak of having to put her into internal Slumber, it almost feels as heartbreaking as putting a childhood dog or cat to sleep
I don't know why I do. but I keep forgetting the way Skyward Sword made me feel... thanks for reinvoking those feelings... This song makes me wanna hug Fi goodbye :(
Whoa, man... Just... Wow. You made me re-live that ending scene with the exact same feeling of nostalgia. This is amazing. Hope to listen more of you! Am I the only one who wants this song on my phone right now? :')
Herold Velasco I'm glad to hear you liked it. I tried my best to imagine that scene while writing this. It's such a sad moment... I don't know if you have android or iphone, but this song is available on both music stores ;)
Well, you really do know how to put that feeling into notes. I'm a musician too and I really appreciate when someone puts the notes perfectly in combination with everything. I hope you do Ballad of the Goddess, it's beautiful.
It's kind of weird. Fi has a tendency to be annoying throughout the game, but that ending scene practically had me in tears. This song does a great job of capturing that.
"All else aside, nothing can take away the joy of having met you, My Friend." A Young Boy lifts an Ancient Blade to The Sky. "It is nice to meet you... Old Friend."
SHE BETTER BE IN BREATH OF THE WILD 2 EVEN IF IT IS JUST THAT LITTLE SOUND SHE MAKES I'm way too hyped for this game and we haven't even had any more news about it
when playing all the zelda games i never had a issue with any of the companions because it made me feel that i was actually walking through the hero's shoes becoming the hero that they are supposed to be.
I miss them both the same. However, Fi has always been in every Zelda game that had the master sword in it so she's always been there in spirit, but Midna, well, unless someone can magically remake the Mirror Of Twilight, we'll never see or hear from her again
Amazing! I have no words! I showed my friend this, who doesn't even know the game, and she cried! SHE NEVER CRIES! We are both flutists so we love listening to orchestras and band music all the time. Yet this one spoke out to me the most. Your music actually expressed emotion flawlessly! That's what I like about your music more than anyone. If I could play in this orchestra, I'd so do it! ❤ Awesome work! Keep it up! 👍 😊 😍😋
Every time I hear this melody it gives me chills. Despite how infrequently I get emotional about movies, books and such, the ending of Skyward Sword was heart-wrenching. This orchestration is wonderful.
By far the best rendition of Fi's theme that I have ever heard. This invokes the emotions of the adventure that you had with her and yet captured so perfectly in such a short amount of time, and by far she was the most helpful of all of Link's companions across the series. For those curious about BotW I was right there with everyone that she needed to have some form of remembrance and I'd say that they delivered that absolutely perfectly. It was definitely if you reeeeaaaally want it you need to find it. I'm hoping to see many more wonderful renditions from these performers. You have an exceptional talent that could rival some of the best music writers such as James Horner, Hans Zimmer and many of the wonderful performance and movie musicians out there. You know how to capture and convey the emotion that you want to portray in this and many of your other works. I look forward to what you create next.
+Skyward Sword Zelda omfg groosebumps how didn't I think of that xD SS is one of my favourite in the series mainly due to the sound track. Fi's Theme and the Ballad of The Goddess being my faves hnnn *^* I ended up purchasing all of Rozen's Zelda covers aha
Ran across this by chance. As a gameplay mechanic I didn't really like Fi, but I didn't realize how much I liked her character until the scene when she said goodbye. This was a fantastic arrangement. Had me enchanted from beginning to end. I will definitely give my support and purchase on itunes.
3:50 has to be my favorite part. It conveys that last sense of the bittersweet moment of Fi's passing into the sword, of that very last moment in the temple, when she thanks Link, the line that this video is named for. I have mixed feelings about Fi and think her development could have been a little better, but it's on my list of sad Zelda moments.
Fi’s and Midna’s farewell as well as the champions death, the champions memories+the champions ballad and the last two memories in botw hit a-lot emotionally😩😢🥺.
One shall not cry or despair, even if the path isn’t clear, the divine embrace between the celestial bodies illumines and sustain this world. in this darkest age your heart is your lamp, and it’s flame is love, so never allow yourself to betraye your inner light by giving up to the darkness, I know I know, fear, pain and loneliness can be overwhelming, and you think that what yesterday took from you today is lost forever with no promises for a better tomorrow, but don’t forget this, the path of life is not straight, it’s a spiral and you’re constantly returning where you started, so wherever you left you’ll came across, so plant as many good sides as you can, and keep looking forward, otherwise You’ll never know what's going to come your way.
I absolutely love this track (and the artwork)! Without a doubt, you are very talented. Thanks for creating such a beautiful version of Fi's Farewell - it has actually inspired me to start working on my own version of Fi's theme music as well.
Hey Rozen, it took a while, but I did finish the track. I would be very happy to hear what you think about it, if you have the time. You can find it in my channel. Thanks again! :)
The chills, man, the chills. And the tears. Truly beautiful and unlike any other covers I've listened to so far. I am so happy to have found this treasure, I'm going to listen to the rest of your work right now!

Every time I hear this melody it gives me chills. Despite how infrequently I get emotional about movies, books and such, the ending of Skyward Sword was heart-wrenching. This orchestration is wonderful.
I can't stop coming back to listen to this video!
-"the best...movie musicians out there"
-doesn't list John Williams or Howard Shore
It's treason, then.
It’s so beautiful I’m gonna cry. The level of nostalgia is unreal.
Just... Everything...
This is absolutely excellent, to say the least
I really like how it changes pace at 1:40 and then builds up!
This was the final thing played in the Nintendo Music Stream. I miss it already.
This make me love Fi character even more
À la fois épique et triste... Magique et majestueux.
BDmaniak Merci beaucoup
holy crap this was beautiful
i still have goosebumps from it
Don't you mean...
😎
Groosebumps
And yes, I love SS way too much and there's no words to explain, actions speak louder.
Fi: Oh before I go I need to tell you this is very important
Link: what is it fi
Fi: the batterys in your wii remote are running low
This gave me permanent chills
Truly enchanting
Fi: Master the battery in your Wii remote is low. *Gets sealed away.* *Pain forever*
I'm usually not the emotional type of person when it comes to music, but this had my eyes tearing up. Beautiful cover right here.
When you feel vindicated from seeing that Fi never left. I've never felt so excited and happy!
Gorgeous work made even better by how loopable it is. Stuff like this is just the best to drift away in.
legit sounds like a soundtrack from a big budget movie, amazing work 10/10 will listen again and again!
oh my goodness, this is beautiful.
Absolutely incredible work my friend! Subbed! :)
ClefferNotes Just came from your video on this song and they are both amazing
Ran across this by chance. As a gameplay mechanic I didn't really like Fi, but I didn't realize how much I liked her character until the scene when she said goodbye.
This was a fantastic arrangement. Had me enchanted from beginning to end. I will definitely give my support and purchase on itunes.
I didn't either man. I literally yelled at the screen for her to shut up lol then when the goodbyes. I bawled.
"you don't know what you have until it is gone"
This is so emotional! especially with LoZ being my favorite game franchise ever along with pokemon.
Fi’s and Midna’s farewell as well as the champions death, the champions memories+the champions ballad and the last two memories in botw hit a-lot emotionally😩😢🥺.
even after five years i find myself coming back to here to listen to this masterpiece again and again.
This was so good, I actually got chills.
Amazingly Beautiful. Thank You
Beautifully emotional song
One shall not cry or despair, even if the path isn’t clear, the divine embrace between the celestial bodies illumines and sustain this world. in this darkest age your heart is your lamp, and it’s flame is love, so never allow yourself to betraye your inner light by giving up to the darkness, I know I know, fear, pain and loneliness can be overwhelming, and you think that what yesterday took from you today is lost forever with no promises for a better tomorrow, but don’t forget this, the path of life is not straight, it’s a spiral and you’re constantly returning where you started, so wherever you left you’ll came across, so plant as many good sides as you can, and keep looking forward, otherwise
You’ll never know what's going to come your way.
That's just beautiful !!
This is so awesome. Nice job with all the special effects
I absolutely love this track (and the artwork)! Without a doubt, you are very talented. Thanks for creating such a beautiful version of Fi's Farewell - it has actually inspired me to start working on my own version of Fi's theme music as well.
Thank you! That's very good to hear! That's what music is all about: inspiring others. Please do share the track if you finish it :)
Thanks, I will! :)
Hey Rozen, it took a while, but I did finish the track. I would be very happy to hear what you think about it, if you have the time. You can find it in my channel. Thanks again! :)
And here we have an amazing piece of music. Thank you for that, sir.
This is honestly amazing
Simply epic!
I will miss you farewell fi.
The chills, man, the chills.
And the tears.
Truly beautiful and unlike any other covers I've listened to so far. I am so happy to have found this treasure, I'm going to listen to the rest of your work right now!
It's so... wonderful...
