Battlefleet Gothic: Armada, Tindalos Interactive's real-time strategy game set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, opens its multiplayer beta today. All players who preorder the game on Steam or the official store can immediately join this beta, practice building their first fleets and test their worth as Admiral against other players or the AI!
In addition to the 10% discount offered during the pre-order period, Early Adopters of Battlefleet Gothic Armada will receive one extra faction for free - the Space Marines - and immediate access to the Multiplayer Beta of the game. From today, players can practice building their Imperium and Chaos fleets and get used to the gameplay mechanics in the solo campaign prologue, before testing their skills against the AI or players online in 1v1 skirmishes. The remaining factions (Orks and Eldar), as well as the full solo campaign and other multiplayer modes (like 2vs2) will be made available when the game launches later in March. The Space Marines fleet will be available to play a few weeks after the game launches.

Made in Unreal Engine 4, Battlefleet Gothic: Armada offers deep management of every ship in your fleet, during and between battles. With different skills and abilities, you can customize all aspects of your ships. Whether it’s crew for weaponry or repairs, or new skills such as the augur probe and micro-warp jump, you’ll be able to add more as each ship gains experience.
Multiplayer battles are all about positioning and flanking your enemy. Carefully align your path with your target, launching a devastating salvo of torpedoes before violently ramming them for incredible destructive force. Alternatively, you may choose to slide close enough to expose your broadside cannons and unleash a barrage of heavy fire… every action has weight and inertia, so mistakes will rarely be left unpunished by your opponent.
Players can now pre-order the Early Adopters Edition of Battlefleet Gothic: Armada for 10% off on Steam and the official store. Early Adopters will receive the Space Marines Fleet DLC for free, along with immediate access to the Multiplayer Beta. This offer is available for players who preorder or buy the game within 2 months after release.

Playing the beta right now, and having tons of fun. Of course there are some bugs and not all features are in yet, but this game is the one BFG fans have been waiting for 10 years. It shows it has been done with true love to both the tabletop game and the W40k universe. Can't wait for full release and all the other races!!

Yes! You can play skirmishes against the AI and the first 3 missions of the campaign, which also serve as tutorial. AI is quite competent and will teach you how to play the hard way; as is said in this video, your mistakes will be used by the enemy, no matter who! The game is very tactical: you can't just tell your ships to attack and forget about it, you have to keep an eye on manouvers, use abilities... yet the AI governing your ships is good enough to attack and move by itself. It feels very unique, and very loyal to the tabletop.

Only in the singleplayer campaign. By pressing spacebar the action slows down to a crawl while you are still able to issue orders. However, I've had another player use this feature (Tactical Cogitator) to me in a MP match, so I guess it's either a beta bug or a true feature.
To be honest, once you get used to it, you barely need the spacebar. It is useful in extremely tight situations, but once you get used to your orders and abilities you can issue them faster.

I know what you mean. To put it shortly: they are in the game, but are not available yet in the Multiplayer Beta. They have been tested already in the closed test (just search for "Battlefleet Gothic Armada Eldar/Orks" here on UA-cam), but where not included (for now) in the MP Beta because they were not balanced enough, I think. Imperium and Chaos were closer to good balance, so they were the ones made available for this Beta.
I can't believe the amount of fun I already have with Beta! You guys truly deliver! But you know what makes me *most proud?* The fact you guys didn't decide to make a game for everyone, sacrifice the mechanics and complexity to appease to mass audience, but rather decided to cater to specific niche and do it well. Cause it's better to create something fewer people will really deeply enjoy and understand, then put out a thing a mass would enjoy just mildly. You've earned my respect.

It's been on the top sellers front page of steam for a few days now so I guess it's already doing pretty well.They said in an interview that adding extra fleets is something they want to do.

Feels like it's been ages since a fun looking 40k game (not into MMO's so I've barely looked at Dark Millennium, though I think its name changed) has been in the works. I hope the singleplayer is good, I only do multiplayer if I can get into a game, hopefully can play as the Eldar and others instead of the Imperium which is cool but ... it's really been done like a lot. But I would still buy.

This looks really awesome & its on my steam wishlist, but like a lot of people I'm not going to pre-order, i'm going to wait for the game to be out for a while (so that bugs & fixes come out) and to be available on a significant steam sale because 10% off £30 is not a significant saving XD

This game is good just need to polish some of the crash if you can't solve it by launch can I suggest postponing and then adding the eldar and orks to multiplayer so we can test them

I love how it looks but I'm not convinced by the collisions. There is very little that can make bounce a several-miles long cathedral-like warship. Any direct impact strong enough to cause damage would penetrate it, leading to a massive collapse in the ship's structure. Instead we have ships that bump into each other like karts, not like spacefaring behemots. Not very convincing.

Man, I'd like to play as a Tau or a Nid fleet. I know they are not in the 12th black crusade, but is there a plan to add them in? For fun, maybe an expansion that is not taking place in the Gothic sector? I don't know, the Damocles Gulf or the Tyran space or something...

So in the game Battlefleet Gothic there are Necrons, but in the Campaign around the Gothic conflict (named Battlefleet Gothic) there were none. Little Confusing. :)
But i think in later expansions the will add Necrons and Tau also to the pc game.

Archibald Fooster But Marines never were prominent faction in Tabletop Gothic either. Space Marines are ground troops, their fleets are small and specialize on planetary sieges. They can handle themselves, but Navy is supposed to take bulk of the space combat. Its similar like Adeptus Arbites (police) would be in Dawn of War. I know they are SPEEHS MEHRENS, but, they are indeed ideal for DLC.

I am a HUGE fan of warhammer, but there is only one reason I will not buy it.
It's on steam. Their support is terrible and I was locked out of my own account for 2 months. Since then, I have vowed in the name of the emperor to not give those greedy steam employees any of my money until they actually give a $/&@ about their customers.
