    1. SOUNDBITE (English) Martin McDonagh, writer-director
"I'm having a great time. Free food. Two free glasses of wine. Yeah. I get to hang out with mates. The good thing about it is, like, all of the cast got nominated, so it's like, you know, Colin and I'm Brendan because we're all in it together. And my editor and composer. So it's kind of like a big gang of friends, really. And all of the other nominees, they're really nice people. There's no jerks, which is really good."
    SOUNDBITE (English) Kerry Condon, actor:
"Yeah, it is nice because, you know, if you're like, Oh, God, that person, when they're not nice, there isn't that vibe. I was talking to Jamie Lee Curtis in the day when we were both voting in our category. Like, everyone's really lovely. Yeah, that's good, you know? So I do like that. Yeah. But I was beside the editor. You just reminded me there was a lady beside me, and then our editor. I had never met him."

    2. SOUNDBITE (English) Martin McDonagh, writer-director
"Yeah. I always hoped to. We stayed friends in the interim and it was just about sitting down and trying to write something. But also I guess 'In Bruges,' was, we loved it and it was kind of well received at least over the years. So we didn't want to disappoint anyone who loved that or disappoint ourselves."
    SOUNDBITE (English) Kerry Condon, actor:
"Just doing it for the sake of it kind of thing you didn't want to."
McDonagh: "So it had to be something that was so very different of a level. And and I think I think we got there."
Condon: "And it was so different too."
McDonagh: "So different, kind of sadder and but funny, like probably as many laughs or more than 'In Bruge'. But yeah, kind of deeper."
    Condon: "More mature."
(Reporter: Banshees is sadder? I'm torn. I think they're both pretty sad in their own way.)
McDonagh: "True. True but I guess there is kind of genre things in 'In Bruge,' but this is kind of by the end. It goes pretty deep after you leave, which is sad. Then it kind of gets dark."
Condon: "Yeah, yeah. But it's done with humor too, so that eases the blow."

(On diversity in the industry and the Academy)
"Yeah, I think there's still a lot of a lot of work to be done and a lot of places to go. You know, I think there are a lot of people nominated not just here, but in BAFTA, too, that that probably should have been on the lists and the Golden Globes, too. So it's almost it's definitely not in our control, but I think that could be a lot more, you know, representation all across the board."
    SOUNDBITE (English) Kerry Condon, actor:
"It's a tricky one and, you know, like to be wading into it, and to be honest with you, it hurts me to be like, Oh, sweet Jesus, I need a coffee if you want me to answer that question. Of course. Listen, as long as you're having the conversation, isn't that making it move forward and everything? Isn't that the main thing? You know."
    McDonagh: "It's a start I guess."

(On the unidentified balloons that have been shot down in the U.S. and Canada)
"I mean, maybe they come in peace. I'm starting to sound like I'm on Mars Attacks, you remember when they're like they come in peace with the birds."
McDonagh: "Well, aren't they coming from China?"
    (Reporter: We don't know.)
Condon: "We don't know anything. They could be a bloody hoax The National Enquirer is pulling or something."
    McDonagh: "With your career."
