Also very nice. He invited a dorky fan onto stage with him and Peter Jackson at San Diego Comic-Con in 2011. All because the fan had on a T-shirt saying how much he wanted to meet Steven Spielberg
The made for TV film , "Duel" with Dennis Weaver demonstrated incontrovertibly that he was already blessed with a majestic directorial career for the rest of his life.
It came from a short story in Playboy, no? As did some scenes in Lynch's film..coming from Alfred Hitchcock's Mystery Magazine in the 60's, and Wlliam Mortensen's photos.
Class. Many make great films... but I think he is the ultimate visual storyteller. No one has successfully takled as many different genres. I'd love to meet him.
In the studio era, many directors were very versatile, jumping from one genre to another, film after film. Yes, Curtiz, Wyler, Walsh, Sturges... but Spielberg went beyond all of them in the way stories were told in movies.
I absolutely agree that books and films are a snapshot of where humanity was at the time. How can we possibly learn from our mistakes or hope to improve, if the darkness of the past is constantly being erased or glossed over.
Alot of Spielberg movies shaped my world-view & I agree wholeheartedly with his sentiment regarding the Past . Films are like a time capsule or a snap shot of a bygone era. And if film is done well then it contains both light & shade. And you make up your own mind on things. And yes going to the movies is like a Communion of sorts where you let your guard down & realise that there are things that separate us but there are things that make us all the same. Love ,Hope & Community spring to mind. Thanks once again for the incredible legacy of Cinema that you have given us.
Spielberg, Lucas, Scorsese, Cameron, Di Palma, and many many others have inspired my own storytelling over the decades. It's still hard for me to believe that I'm about to publish the third in my series, but simultaneously, I don't find it all that surprising. After 30+ years of acting, directing, writing, fight choreography, sound design, videos, voice-over, and PLENTY more... it's all been my contribution to whomever has decided to learn about my work. :) 🐲✨🐲✨🐲✨
Their relationship was poignantly reviewed during Di Palma’s documentary. I learned a lot, and would recommend it to anyone interested in seeing how there was such a concentration of creative energy in their early years.
I’m in a huge western kick also love learning about Spielberg lately. When the interviewer asked is there a genre he hasn’t done yet… I was grinning ear to ear “he’s never done a western”
I think Steven has a Western in him. I'd love to see him do something like a Good Bad and the Ugly. Sergio Leone has a very similar dramatic style. I think Steven could totally do it justice.
I have one thing on my bucket list and that is to meet Steven Spielberg, But saying that I would be so star struck I bet I would just lose it, The guy is a phenomenon his story telling is just amazing 🙌🙌🙌
I love seeing Steven Spielberg being candid and dropping nuggets of wisdom. I would die for him to make one of my scripts into a movie. My movie script "Gods of the Forgotten" would be a perfect fit.
I just finished reading Pirate Latitudes, the pirate novel that Spielberg was once planning on adapting and directing. I loved it and I hope that he makes it into a movie someday.

I love the shout out he gave to Jordan Peele. However somewhat disappointed in the crowds non response to the reference of an obvious talented director such as Peele. Spielberg truly understands his position which makes him an all around great and talented human being.
OMG did Spielberg just spoiled me the current season of Succession?! I was waiting to binge it when was over😫 I can't believe a spoiler so fresh came form the master of cinema.
Much respect and admiration towards this master filmmaker. I’m so happy to hear he liked Indy 5. Plus him talking about not meddling with movies in order to fit with a political agenda is relieving to me. Absolutely loved The Fabelmans. That was his best film in a while. Definitely down to see him tackle a western as his next project! I think he’s going to be executive producing a posthumous project heavily based off of the late Stanley Kubrick’s “Napoleon” next.
Us short film makers are stuck pretty much with the youtube experience. And lucky if they're watched on a desktop. But at the same time, youtube has been a blessing. I know many short film makers want their 16mm films scanned into QuickTime to get them out there. And it doesn't hurt to be able then to touch up some errors.
Ooh, there's a thought! 👍 It'd be cool if he did one of each of the 3 genres - a history, a tragedy & a comedy. Don't know which ones I'd want him to do, though. Haven't seen all of the plays.
This needs to happen: Angelina Jordan in Paris Steven Spielberg Angelina Jordan is a young singer who has amazed the world with her voice and style. She has performed in many countries and events, but one of her dreams was to sing in Paris, the city of love and art. That dream came true when she was invited by Steven Spielberg, the famous director, to be part of his new movie project. Spielberg was impressed by Angelina's talent and wanted her to sing the main theme song of his film, a romantic comedy set in Paris. Angelina was thrilled and accepted the offer, and soon she found herself in the beautiful French capital, recording the song and exploring the city with Spielberg. They had a great time together, and Angelina felt inspired by the culture and history of Paris. She also learned a lot from Spielberg, who shared his wisdom and experience with her. Angelina said that this was one of the best experiences of her life, and that she was grateful to Spielberg for giving her this opportunity.

People still should have a choice. Not including the special edition of ET on blu ray is just as bad. Lucas erased the original Star Wars and only offered the special edition. Should have done what Steve did with Close Encounters offered all 3 versions. or what Ridley did with 5 versions of Blade Runner.
Well said. 100% agree. The fact that there is no official way to watch the original Star Wars trilogy in high quality (I own the terrible DVD bonus disc made from the laserdiscs that are not even anamorphic - just letterboxed) is a real shame. We should have those versions and the the revised editions.
I think Coppola’s Final Cut of Apocalypse Now easily bests the other two versions for me. I first saw Redux shortly after it came out but seeing the FC a few years ago really made me reconsider favorites.

Peele is another m knight shamaylan

Well said. I used to think of JJ Abrams as the “next” Spielberg, but he’s proven time and again he does not know how to end his “mystery box” films.
