- Another week of the freezer challenge has passed. In today's video, we are making more meals from the freezer to add to the pantry. Did we meet the challenge of cleaning out the fourth freezer by the beginning of January 2024? Well, you will have to see! But in today's video, we are still organizing the freezers, and it feels fantastic to be getting some food out of the freezers and get it canned for future ready-made meals!

You need a freeze dryer girl!!
Lol... I dream of one. They are a bit pricey, but it is more an issue of space than anything else. My kitchen is so small. But perhaps one day and I can expand my pantry space to house it.
Glad to see you use lamb. Yearlings are available up here, since most people don't know what to do with it. Thank you for sharing❤
As I am sure you have guessed, we eat a lot of lamb. We usually put 8 in the freezer a year, give or take, so we have to get creative sometimes as we eat it 3 times a week. I am glad you are enjoying the content we are sharing 😀
3 things I want to say.😊 1) lamb is so delicious, reminds me of my Nan. 2) I adore your purple/pink sweater you are wearing, and 3) your Hoya in the diningroom is so stunning and healthy looking. I recently found your channel and I am enjoying it so much. Take good care!!😊
I had no idea what that plant was called, so thank you for that. I received it years ago as a tiny slip from my grandmother's plant, and it really did nothing till we moved to this farm. A sign that this is where we were meant to be, perhaps.

I love your videos! thank you! :)
Thank you so much! I am glad you are enjoying them and I really appreciate the feedback.
I admire you for being a big girl and admitting you reuse your canning lids. So many people are against this. The Amish have done this from the beginning of time without problems. This was great content!!
I find as long as they have no dents or scratches and I do the hot water sterilize, the rubber is excellent. Although I will admit that the newer lids do not have the same quality. I have some old lids from 6 or 7 years ago that are like the energizer bunny, they just keep going, yet some newer packs.... especially the non brand name varieties, I am lucky if I can get 2 uses. I hated that Bernardin lids had become so expensive, but at least they lasted. Rant over 😆
@@PantryLiving I totally agree with you. Everyone here in the US is bragging on the Forjars lids. I bought some and they had a great rubber area. Bought a box a few months later, and the rubber was thin. They are getting just like everyone else, plus they are made in China. That doesn't sit well with me.
I love ForJars lids. I haven't had that problem at all, with the rubber. I've purchased over 300 flats from them. Also, just an FYI, they are working on bringing the production to North America, they sourced from China to meet the needs of canners when the bigger companies did nothing during 2020. They definitely have my business. They even brought back Gem lids and rings so those Canadian jars can be used again! 😊
@@gardengrowinmawmaw8642 exactly.
@@ShannonLivesey I have not ever used forjars lids. I tend to use Bernardin as that was what was available, even purchased 24 packs of Gem lids, without realizing it, really wish I had the jars to fit them lol. At least they were a great deal. But I have purchased off Amazon many times, and the product was decent but the last bulk order I made was garbage... you can see and feel the difference. I may give forjars a try this time just to form an experienced opinion, not sure how they compare to bernardin for prices.
I am always so inspired and giddy watching you get things done. You have a genuine excitement that is just contagious. I never knew about the lard jar trick-thank you for sharing that!
Thank you so much. I love sharing what I am passionate about, and can get overzealous at times 😆 . I was so happy when I tried the lard trick. There are times of the year when we produce a lot of it and it stores so much better clean. Just make sure your lid is on well. I learned that the hard way.
O, I will. It;s the "finger tight" in jarring I mess up..

@GardeningWarrior that one is always tricky, 😆. For the longest time I over tightened until I allowed myself to believe it would be enough, lol.
That's cool that you make cat food. We have nine cats, so making our own cat food might be worth looking into.
We have 7 and it definitely helps and is a great way to use everythingbthat we don't view as human grade, and that is only because we have become picky with the abundance of meat we produce.
I bet those lamb cracklings would be good on a baked potato or salad kind of like a bacon bit
YES! Brilliant idea. I was also thinking of trying them in a big batch of homemade baked beans next time.bi think they would be perfect.
Great job. You will get the freezer canned and cleaned out.
It is taking longer then I had anticipated, but I feel progress is good and a lot of items are being added to the pantry which is great for the pantry challenge.
I don't know why it's so fun to watch you dig through your freezers and create stuff. I'm really enjoying your freezer challenge. And I'm looking forward to the butter chicken curry recipe!
It is fun because in the back of your mind, you are wondering how many times I can go through the same process 😆 kidding. I will be honest, I am having sooooo much fun producing content for this channel. It is right up my alley, so I am glad you are enjoying it.
I think it's fun because we all probably have stuff in our freezers that need to be used and it does us good to realize other people are in the same boat! 😂 It motivates us to dig in and do something about it!
I think you did an awesome job with the lamb. I am so enjoying these videos and can't wait to see what else you and Chris comes up with.
We were both shocked at how much lamb we have actually accumulated. That is the problem with the chest freezers for me.... things sink to the bottom to never be seen again.
Great recipes! We cooked the big turkey for new year and then proceed to do the bone broth with all the rabbit bones and veggies scraps we had. that helped emptied the freezer alright! Now, the turkey had a bacon skin. Guess what our broth taste? lol
I bet it is super tasty! And the space in the freezer will be good to have.
Where do i find the butter chicken sauce recipe?
I did not catch the name of the book the ketchup recipe was found.
The ketchup is from Bernardin book Tomatoes: Canning & Specialty Recipes. The recipe linked here is almost identical: nchfp.uga.edu/how/can_03/tomato_ketchup.html
As for the Curry. I filmed it while I made it and am hoping to get it edited and on here this week :)
Was it 24 lbs of tomatoes before you put thru the mill or was it 24 lbs after?
24 lbs before putting them through. Sometimes I freeze them first to speed up the process, so I always bag them 6lbs in a bag for the freezer
@@PantryLiving great tip. One more question. When you thaw them do you keep that liquid or toss it
