Hello, my name is Merrill Kazanjian and I am a metal detectorist. This is a teaching channel where you will learn metal detecting techniques and gain knowledge. My channel, Metal Detecting NYC is a good place to learn metal detecting 101 on youtube.

My art channel with 107,000+ subscribers: / youdraw
I am a teacher and my channel will show you how to metal detect for beginners all the way through advanced techniques for metal detectorists. I am the owner of a Minelab Safari Metal Detector, a Garrett AT Pro (at pro metal detector youtube), a WOT coil and I can teach you how to recover the deepest of targets with a metal detector. My metal detecting finds include many gold and platinum rings and early American coins as well as British Colonial coins and Spanish Colonial Coins. Metal detecting is a hobby that millions of people around the world do. All you need to try is a metal detector some batteries, a digging tool and some patience. My first metal detector cost 30 dollars at BJ's and I dug enough signals to buy my first "real" metal detector with the change that I found with the 30 dollar toy model. I decided to start Metal detecting on UA-cam because I feel the need to teach what I know. It has been a life changing activity for me and I want to share what I know. It is my hope that Metal Detecting NYC can become one of the biggest metal detecting youtube channels. My beach instructional videos include (or will include soon) , "metal detecting dry sand", (choosing a) "metal detecting sand scoop" and "surf hunting". On land, I use the website historic aerials to survey the history of a site so that I can continue metal detecting old homesites and other places with a lot of history. Subscribe to my channel to see my metal detector finds for 2019. Great video as always Merrill! I offer this suggestion for the Simplex on the beach....learn to MANUALLY ground balance the machine, especially at the beach. Start with a high threshold, and adjust it until it goes silent when you're close to the ground. Then adjust it back up a little at a time until you just hear the threshold again. The Simplex runs hot, so if your ground balance is off, you'll get lots of chatter. If the ground balance is set right, you can also hunt with higher sensitivity and more stability.
Keep those videos coming! I look forward to each and every one!

Hi Merrill, here's a thing... I found this tip on Simplex Guru's channel... put the beach mode ground balancing into 00.00 manually. Give it a go and see how you rate the machine in salty conditions then!
By the way, love trying to see your settings when you use the Simplex... I keep learning...
PS - had to interrupt watching... just back from the minus tide beach! Nothing much yet... but promise! 😁😁😁

You need to figure that deus out it’s by far the best machine on the market once you understand it. Watch England’s history metal detecting on UA-cam sid use to be a nox guy but switched to the deus permanently once he figured it out and seen what it can do. I have a video on my page also explaining some of the settings in the deus. And also I own a simplex and a deus and I’ve noticed on the simplex you must sometimes manually adjust the ground balance yourself using the arrow buttons until you get it to stabilize.

Thinking about the Simplex as a first completely waterproof detector. The more i watch, the more I'm interested kinda... My Vanquish 440 kills at the beach! I guess i'm not the only person that dreams about detecting! Hey, it's the first time I see Wendy's and Nantucket Nectar being unlocked!!! Hilarious! Cheerios!

I think the odd spool-like thing is a cuff link. For some reason they are always slanted. We think of French cuffs now as fancy....but back in the day even many women’s blouses required cuff links.

For everyone bashing the simplex its good for what it is , until you get something better and you shouldn't be bashing the machine,it usually the operator not the machine . The important part is that swinging gets your ass off the sofa and outside moving around having fun. Over half of the people bashing it don't know what they're talking about and just haven't mastered it, great video fellow swinger

I suggest letting Danny use the Simplex, instead of the Deus. It is much more user-friendly for a beginner. I started with a Bounty Hunter 20 years ago, and it made it much easier to progress to a more advanced machine. Just a thought.

Double headed nail is a brass saddle rivet they used them in early saddles and bridles, don't toss them there with a few bux to the right guy, and if you decrease your swing and drag your coil on the ground more and then take a short turn and do it again the simplex chatter will calm down ive noticed , i started with the simplex and than graduated to the nox 900 cause its a smoother tone and not as scratchy. Ohh yeah and if you buy yourself some drum gel its used to muffle a snare drum and stick it too the bottom speaker next to the led light , it calms down the scratch on the machine

*PERMISSIONS FOR SILVER, DUDE!!!* If you hunt houses built around 1930 to 1940, 9 outta 10 times you can get multiple silvers from each yard.
Most of then havent been hunted yet because people have always liked to hit the early 1900s homes or before.
You wont find many cool relics like you can at an 1800s house but with a goal of simply finding silver coins, ya cant beat a 1940s yard.

Whoever “they” is are not aware of better options. You can tell yourself all you want that this is an elite saltwater metal detector. I assure you it isn’t. Have you used an Equinox? A Legend? A Deus 2? Even an Apex or Vanquish. I have gone on record in multiple videos saying that the Symplex is the best value in all of metal detecting right now and it is. What it IS NOT is a saltwater metal detector. Is it possible to pull a few obvious targets in the wet of the beach? Yes. But you will be outgunned every time by the competition.

    • @jamescobrien
      @jamescobrien Рік тому +1

@@MetalDetectingNYC I never said it was better than those you mentioned. I do believe you can get better results with your simplex by manually ground balancing it in 2, 3, or 4 tone modes. I watched videos of it because I'm thinking of getting one. They say to pump it up and down, adjust the manual ground grab until it makes the least sound as possible, then it is right. It is pretty pointless for you because you got that equinox, I hope you get your battery very soon, if not already. I've only had an Ace 350 so far, lol, one that didn't even have TDI #. Well this is the first time that I've watched your channel, because it said that you were going to use the simplex at the beach and you got to the beach and you were using your mind lab it look like.
I'm not a particular fan of you constantly saying your name I think that's kind of stupid, I'm not a fan of you inserting all these different little memes and short little videos.
I highly doubt I will be watching you anymore!!!!
