About a year ago, I ditched my Spektrum DX7s for a Radiomaster TX16S as I was flying planes, and went into the fpv drone world at the time. The experience was awesome, I never looked back and it was the best choice I could make. Now, when they announced the MT-12, I was really hyped because I saw what edgeTX can bring to the table with my planes, and I was right. I replaced my DX5C that I never thought I would change! As much as it can be frustrating to setup stuff, it opens up a lot of opportunities. being able to pair with "almost" any receiver, and running an external ELRS module when highest performance is required is amazing. I've been in the RC world for about 15 years now and the transition from spektrum to radiomaster wasn't too rough, the terminology is different because they do not "pre-make" functions for you, you get to do what you need and customize it as you wish ! But your video is on point. I would not recommend the mt-12 to someone who doesn't want a bit of a headache or is starting out in the hobby. Other radios have pre-packed features with a relevant name that would be intuitive for a beginner while in the radiomaster you have to make it from scratch and think it through!
Thanks for the kind words. Many racers are also older and middle aged so they have no patience for learning something this intense especially without there being an advantage.
I just switched to the mt12 from the flysky noble and I could instantly feel the throttle and steering both felt a lot more linear and the car was significantly easier to control.

I believe most definitely, the open source community needs to come out with a more intuitive, interface, and skin for this radio. That would help sell the radio much better to the surface radio RC community. The terminology might be fine for the people in the fpv community, but as you mentioned, most regular Joes in the surface world won't bother with this radio.

This is an amazing radio. Didn't catch which "this" that can't do what "that" does, and exactly what, but the MT12 can do just about anything. If something is missing, it can be coded in LUA. A superbly flexible radio. What is it "this" can do which "that" can't do?
My points are more for my on road racing and what I like and need. I’ve flown fpv for years and have no issue with elrs or edge tx. Just the finer things I like better on my other radio and things I think need to happen for racing adoption
@@Dorkyand40 Do you have any specifics? Changing EdgeTX isn't impossible. It's open source because it's what the community wants it to be. If it's lacking in how it works for racing it's because of lack of feedback. The reason it's what so many want for FPV is because people who use it have explained the finer things they needed to happen, and then they happened.

I am loving my MT12 but I added a Crossfiire Nano module to mine for my cars and boats.
yeah..im looking for a pure racing application but for an experinced fpv turned basher then its a win
I did the same thing but opposite, just got my 4in1 module to go on my ELRS MT12.

Have fhe 4 and 1 on the way. I club race and bash and have tried the spektrum dx5 and it just couldn't do what i wanted. This finally looks to fit the bill. I already have a file for race setup thankfully. I agree we need an off set of the UI for the majority. If they can do that they will really have a great radio.
While watching the rest of the video I realized I don't know the terminology, so think I have an advantage.

@Dorkyand40 I have a major background in tech so the learning curve for me shouldn't be to bad. I've only been back into RC the past 3 yrs and still learning but having fun doing it. I love to mod stuff so thus transmitter will seriously allow me freedom to customize.

I returned mine......bunch of features but the screen was glitching out on me and feels like I was using command line to figure out the menu system

@@Dorkyand40 I knew it wasn’t for me when I watched a UA-cam video about a setting I wanted and the instructions was to change a value to “A is greater then X…a>x” I’m like wtf is this lmao

You really need to think about your needs and wants. It’s not really smarts my man. You can get the model
Made already and just copy it and bind and change the name. Just have to follow some steps and get used to a new language.
It’s not smarts. It’s an investment of time, desire, and patience.
It’ll take approximately a week to learn EdgeTx and about three hours to learn ELRS.
There is a thousand ELRS vids to learn how out there.
Start with Bardwell then Bill Clark and RC Reviews guys ArminRC.
Don’t sell yourself short.
This radio makes the new DX6 by Spektrum not even released yet look inferior still.
Edge TX is open source anybody can help. It’s not proprietary.
