I can’t explain enough how much of a difference it makes in person, in pictures and videos it’s like “oh it’s a little bigger”, when you’re playing a game like Breath or the Wild in handheld the difference is insane. It’s far more immersive and the OLED looks amazing.
listen I was the first person to emphasize how the OLED would be overrated but after getting my hands on one it’s definitely nicer looking than i expected , not an over the top improvement or something you have to have but it’s absolutely a nice upgrade and if you play in handheld often it’s a much much better experience.. just my thoughts after using it for about a week . (love all switches though my lite still some love) lol

I was worried the larger screen with the same pixel count would look blurrier, and it *does* look rather blurry for smaller details like text. But overall I've been pretty happy with the screen.
@@girtzjeffrey I sold my original switch a couple years ago, so I can't do a side by side comparison like you can. However, this OLED model definitely is quite nice.

Since most OLEDs use a Penile Matrix they have less pixel at the same resolution, so that makes it even worse. But for these kind of games it's just fine
Objectively, it is blurrier.
@@AnneALias it still looks great for games that are a pixel perfect match on the screen, but all the games with sub-720p resolutions have that blurriness magnified slightly on the bigger screen.
The bigger screen really helps with the game's framing. The original display is smaller and feels "cramped"

Dang I wasn't expecting it to be so much better but after just watching the first minute it's clear that the extra $50 is well worth it. Plus the other small additions it totally makes sense to just get the OLED.

I wanted to relive my Pokemon days so I’m thinking of buying a switch original online for 250$ and wait for the new verison rather then paying 499$ for oled then having to get the new one in march next year

I feel this test would have been better done if you had did a race, saved it as a favourite once it was over, then go into the Kart TV, then selected the reply in that so you could get a consistent, reproducible race.
Then you wouldn't have to try to mimic the same races over and over again, and instead just replay the same in-game "recording" of the race that can reply the whole race exactly as it was done anyway.

Original switch looks washed out, whereas the oled is more vivid, and makes the game look more vibrant/colourful.
i just own the OLED Switch, and it does have "Vivid" and 'Standard" screen colors settings, similar to Samsung's OLED smartphones
Doesnt help i use the TV mode all the time and i dont have an OLED TV so the main feature of the OLED ismpretty much devaluated for me

Just got the Splatoon 3 OLED switch. It is stunning.
I'm upgrading from the Original OG model, not the red box, but the 1st launch switch.
I WAS solely a docked player. But had played Splat 3 in handheld on the OG and it ran and looked amazing, so it converted me into a handheld user. After a week I seen the Splat 3 OLED and fell in love, could not be happier.
Damn. I like the Splatoon 3 OLED Switch. But my Switch V2 (my first and only switch) is barely a year old. The reason I bought the V2 instead of the OLED was because the markup here was too high compared to US prices. I couldn't justify it that time. Now that the OLED has dropped in price here, I kinda wished I waited. Though if I did, I would've been delaying my purchase even more.
You probably get better colors and a better contrast on the oled. I'm thinking of buying one. I have a oled tv and love it... plus I have the orginal launch switch

Man this is awesome do a comparison of Pikmin 3 Deluxe, BOTW, Age of Calamity, and Bowser’s fury.
The oled has a more punchy, saturated colours for sure. I'm not sure if I'm only noticing it because the camera is so close, but I can see the pixels on it when I can't see them on the original. This would not be a worthwhile trade-off for me, I feel like I'd rather have a sharper screen than more saturated colours.
You could have just played wireless with yourself using both systems and then replayed the track on each switch and select the same racer in the replay to get the exact same side by side.

Yeah right, the realy only better aspect (Kontrast) from oled is not visible but its a good pov for the only realy advantage of oled and yeah, its not worth the downsides…
So your are in a better Position as someone who use an oled-device couse the only stunning advantage is not visible and Shows off the downsides Next to the Overall issues with oled (burn in, dead Pixels, fast washed out colors cause the organic materials in the screen…)
The improvement does look nice but with my switch I generally only play it docked but if I wanna play on the go I have a switch lite. Sounds a bit pointless having both but I like the smaller form factor of the switch lite wen playing on the go plus u don’t get that slight movement from joycons moving wen they r clicked in place

No thank you Nintendo. While the Oled is clearly better than the IPS LCD, it´s not worth the money at all for me.
I don´t want to think about possible Oled burn in and aging, which i´ve noticed on ALL Oled devices i´ve owned over the past years.
I am waiting for the Switch Pro / Switch´s successor console.

It's okay if you don't think the screen alone is worth the extra money (it probably isn't), but this obsessive collective OLED paranoia on the Internet is bullshit, I'm sorry. I still have an OG Vita which I bought at launch and played to death for years (still run some emulators on it every now and again), never had burn-in, the screen look as bright as new. Same with my Pixel 3 phone, and my LG B9, both of which I have had for about 2 years now with heavy daily use. If you guys have problems, I honestly have no idea how you use your devices... And the "Switch Pro" will most certainly have an OLED screen now that Nintendo has raised their own bar, so... wouldn't it be a problem, then?

Fast washed out colors and burn in are issue wich you cant develop away, its the Point why the industrie in First step want microLED and why they still on it…
Oled was just a step on the letter to it and was just getting to the market cause why the Company should only sell one new microLED when they can sell you a oled and just a couple of years later a Second MicroLED tv, its one sell against to and cause samsung is still not working on Long living devices it was the right tech to the right time for samsung and only cause this everyone (big Player) follows to get a Dollar too…

When it did the first clip/pan, if you stare at link it makes the right white joy con look blue haha
Cause he has tried to turn down the overdrive in red colors on the oled version, red ist one of the biggest issues of oled, in the beginning way to much but thats only cause its the color witch washes out fastest, most oleds get a blue of green misscolor over time and that is an issue till today even with the newest screens…

Payed $400 for mine, should've came with an upgrade instead of a whole new system.
Besides, its white and white gets dirty too fast.
I like white consoles, Dreamcast, that hard to find white Xbox 360 Slim, the now beige PC cases, they have such a retro feel to them. Grey ones too. Black consoles are cool and sleek, but they're so boring unless there's some RGB(Or I guess just "B"?) in it like the PS4 Slim.
But I have to say my favourite colour Switch is the blue one, like the Japanese exclusive blue PS Vita, they just look so cool.

I'm getting the OLED as well, I've never owned a Switch so the OLED is a perfect choice to play some games I've wanted to play for years. Such as Mario Kart 8 that I've wanted to play since it was first released for the Wii U.

If you have kids the original is best the OLED is beautiful but I mean is it necessary ? I think it all depends but I am very satisfied buying a hand me down OG that o can play without worrying about it getting scratched or the screen shattering :) ! Thankfully it can be fixed by setting the display colors to not extend on the switch oled. Oranges look red and reds look neon when it’s on its default “vivid” mode.

I noticed several small dots visible on the OLED screen, most easily seen around bright areas like the top left corner of the sky/clouds near 0:43. Is that just something the camera picks up during recording, or is it visible to the eye when playing also?

Those are the pixels you're seeing. They made the screen larger without increasing the pixel density. The old switch is sharper.

I mean the OLED screen is nice and all, however.... In Sweden, they went bonkers on pricing. So really even today, I would still buy the V2 Switch for 290EUR... because the OLED version is.... waaaaait for it.....four-hundred-fifty (450)EUR!!! And the nicer contrast and colors plus the extra inch is REALLY not worth it.

New 3DS: Made the old one redundant
Wii Mini: removed Gamecube compatibility and Wifi
Switch OLED: same mixed performance, just with deeper blacks.
Why anyone expected 4K I'll never know. at best a Switch Pro would have 1080P on both docked and handheld, just with the ability to maintain 30fps for once.
how the hell did you just do it? i try to capture screen recording to at least make it good but is never achieving a similar result as to directly watching it with your own eyes....
