I still have my V1 Switch that I got in March of 2017. The kickstand broke off and got lost a long time ago, and the fan has recently (and consistently) become very loud...I'm looking to get an OLED model very soon here.
The problem with people and their lithium battery’s is that they keep it plugged in the majority of the time. Since I’ve gotten my OLED I’ve never let it charge all the way, and never keep it plugged in longer than it needed to be, and playing Pokémon Diamond I was able to get 8 and a half hours of battery life.
yeah but it all depends on the level of brightness, you can turn it down and that would save more battery power. Or put on auto so it not too bright or too low. To me that would make the battery even last more longer when playing the game. 😉😉💖💖
This is why they include what settings were used for the test, and used the same settings for each Switch. It was a more specific comparison between the three models, with a more general estimate of battery life for the game in general.
Very nice test, but how about the Standard V1 Switch? I still have the V1 test and the Battery Life seems to be really low, but because i normally use my switch in dock mode, i would like to know how the battery life is on this Switch.
I plotted the battery life of each over price to see which would be the best choice given only battery life as a parameter. Here are the numbers Switch lite: $47.7/hour Switch V2: $55.6/hour OLED: $57.4/hour So you pay the least per hour of play for the lite and most for OLED.
Idk who taught you math but it's actually. Based on AUD prices of 329, 449, 499 respectively. It's $80.74 per hour on the lite $85.52 per hour on the normal $85.54 per hour on the OLED That's just for time on. You don't account for time spent charging. Or the extra value of having on average almost two hours more on the OLED vs the lite.
And if you multiply them by a nominal value of 350 minutes the cost of the lite is actually $470.98 per hour of battery life. And the normal switch is $498.86 and the OLED is $499
It's pleasantly surprising that Nintendo was being modest about the OLED model having "identical" battery life to the V2. When I first read that, I questioned how that could be possible with the same chip, same battery, yet more energy-efficient screen. Then I found my answer: they were lying, lol.
They dont have fresh batteries right? The new right out of the box console will have more battery life unless its drastically different like 3-4 hours.
Which remind me when will Pokemon Brillant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl have the fourth update patch so we can finally used the Wonder Trade and Global Trade Station (GTS). I know there's Link Trade but Wonder Trade is the most important part of the games and makes it a lot easier, I don't know why they're not added to the games before released back in November but I'm guess that with Pokemon Legend Arceus release that they wanted wait a bit longer before it's finally updated but I'm hoping the waiting is worth it🤞. As for Pokemon Legends: Arceus I will planning to buy the game in the future after watching some UA-cam videos to get some ideas to what to expect in the game
Anyone else feel like OLED doesn't look as smooth as regular switch? Maybe ghosting or framerate? (idk what it is) For example pokemon like spiritomb just look choppy instead of smooth like on my friend's switches
Has to do with resolution, same resolution but a bigger display means less PPI (Pixels Per Inch) so to fit the same amount of pixels, they had to make them bigger = easier to see. Hope this explains it for you.
I've seen the OLED in person next to the V2 and it really depends on what type of games you play. Games with more color look a little better on the OLED because it pops. But in my opinion it wasn't worth the $150 difference from the a lite that I have. Also I'd rather spend that extra $150 on actual games instead.

@@darkmistico Not a Li-Ion expert, but I think battery wear occurs if the charge stays too low or too high for too long; like below 10% or above 80% and also after so many charge/discharge cycles. That’s my un-googled intuition.
@@darkmistico 😅 It’s sort of a goofy thing. Those are the ideals for battery life, but no company makes that practical or easy to maintain. A lot of people keep the switch docked for long periods of time. If there was a simple way to let it know when you planned to leave, then it could keep it at 80% until 30 minutes before and top it off. For the most part the degradation within two years from fully charging often seems to bring you to about 80% max charge anyway. I think the best thing to do is just try not to go below the 10-20% threshold (or whatever google says) too often. It’s sort of silly though, because if you are always charging to 80% and stopping playing at 10-20% then it’s as if you are acting like the battery was worn out to begin with by only using 60-70% from the start…So just know that it adds wear, maybe take it off the dock when not playing or leaving the house for a while, and top it off to 100% before you leave, as much as you want at that point.
Are all this console new ? Else this comparison is not conclusive. Battery degrade over time and OLED being the latest has the longer battery life, no surprise here.
i have a switch lite and i don’t know if i should upgrade to the OLED,, because i mostly play in handheld and i don’t think i’ll be playing on tv, but then again, the screen is a lot better and the colors are way more vivid which would make a better handheld experience. but then i feel like the features of being able to use the tv, etc, would be a waste. idk
I just got a Switch Lite. As someone who used to play the old Pokemon games on the Gameboy color, what would be the best Pokemon game to get that is similar to those?
Brilliant diamond/shining pearl is closest to the old pokemon games bc it's a remake and even though it has new features, it still uses the old format. I will say that Legends of Arceus has been SO fun, so maybe give it a try, too haha
It's weird that switch lite battery die first Because i've read that switch lite has more battery than switch standard???? Probably a Mandela effect...

yeah but it all depends on the level of brightness, you can turn it down and that would save more battery power.
“But if you close your eyes, does it almost feel like nothing changed at all?”
Can you do a comparison with the old version of the standard switch too?
My lets go pikachu switch lasts 2,5h max while playingh brilliant diamond...This is ridiculous
Good stuff, straight to the facts.
nintendo should put a large battery to a lite version because of full portable use of it
When I remembered that you could play a Nintendo ds Lite for 15 hours...
Very nice test, but how about the Standard V1 Switch?
I still have the V1 test and the Battery Life seems to be really low, but because i normally use my switch in dock mode, i would like to know how the battery life is on this Switch.
the v1 is my switch pretty unusable non docked unless always connected to power
Very cool, I just bought a V2 Switch but I keep it docked to my TV.
Would you consider using a grip??? Love mine
But if im not wrong,it also depend on the game you play right? big games drain the battery faster right?
I plotted the battery life of each over price to see which would be the best choice given only battery life as a parameter. Here are the numbers
Switch lite: $47.7/hour
Switch V2: $55.6/hour
OLED: $57.4/hour
So you pay the least per hour of play for the lite and most for OLED.
Your math is off bud. You also haven't "plotted" anything anywhere.
@@SmallNick except you're wrong, twice
Idk who taught you math but it's actually. Based on AUD prices of 329, 449, 499 respectively. It's
$80.74 per hour on the lite
$85.52 per hour on the normal
$85.54 per hour on the OLED
That's just for time on. You don't account for time spent charging. Or the extra value of having on average almost two hours more on the OLED vs the lite.
And if you multiply them by a nominal value of 350 minutes the cost of the lite is actually $470.98 per hour of battery life. And the normal switch is $498.86 and the OLED is $499
@@techfan1017 except I'm not wrong the mean time spent on the lite is 244.5 minutes and 315 for normal and 350 for OLED
Ty bro, u make me proud for buying new switch lite today.
I’m happy that I picked up a OLED model
A decent video. keep on the good work.
P.s :- there are two versions of standard switch and the both these versions also different battery life
after years,switch v2 remains 90% battery health
It's pleasantly surprising that Nintendo was being modest about the OLED model having "identical" battery life to the V2. When I first read that, I questioned how that could be possible with the same chip, same battery, yet more energy-efficient screen. Then I found my answer: they were lying, lol.
Wdym didn’t the OLED do better .
@@gurucharansgc that's what he said lol
@@basti__ I thought he meant that battery was bad by saying they lied . My bad lol
They dont have fresh batteries right? The new right out of the box console will have more battery life unless its drastically different like 3-4 hours.
2:23 The Nintendo Switch OLED just started to get battery warnings
I've never play my Switch on 50% light always around 80%-90% 😄 and I'm crying because old Switch only has 2 and half hours maximum play time.
Probably it's the first model... U can Buy a power bank that can recharge the switch... Search for Only good Quality
As for Pokemon Legends: Arceus I will planning to buy the game in the future after watching some UA-cam videos to get some ideas to what to expect in the game
the real challenge is playing bdsp without getting bored
man, thanks a lot! I would actually buy the Switch Lite, but I will buy the OLED Switch
to make the official joycons better is to add an actual dpad like the switch lite and fixing the drift.
1:28 damn long time withou hearing that song
Greta video! Very informative.
this runs so much better in handheld mode
Do you use screen protectors?
So basically I should be content with my regular switch. Aight.
Anyone else feel like OLED doesn't look as smooth as regular switch? Maybe ghosting or framerate? (idk what it is)
For example pokemon like spiritomb just look choppy instead of smooth like on my friend's switches
Also I'd rather spend that extra $150 on actual games instead.
this chanel need to support more because what he try to make all mode details for us . with me
i want to say Special Thanks You ... your video help me alot to know what i need to buy
Bruh that sound difference too shiiiiht, that's a nice improvement between the different systems
You can buy LED TV for get OLED display on your Nintendo Switch V1/V2.
About battery life, OLED are same life like nintendo V2 after 6 mounth or 12 Mounth haha
The old switch and pled have the same battery it’s probably just something to do with the cooling
Were these bought at the same time? Batteries wear out overtime obviously
It's too much money to Buy the three at the same time... But the battery Will be unused or it Will wear out Even if they wasnt play ?? Owo
@@darkmistico Not a Li-Ion expert, but I think battery wear occurs if the charge stays too low or too high for too long; like below 10% or above 80% and also after so many charge/discharge cycles. That’s my un-googled intuition.
@@johnlocke3481 i'm gonna Charge My switch to 80% from know on :3 thanks bud
Holy shit the audio quality difference between the models is so noticable... what the-
I'm really trying to see how the OLED screen is better, but I'm just seeing different shades of colors
Imagine my launch switch in this test it wouldn’t even last 3 hours lol
Please do Animal crossing battery life test. I think this game is so much drain battery
planning to buy lite ver. just wondering if the battery 0% and turned off your Switch, will unsave progress will be loss?
Are all this console new ? Else this comparison is not conclusive. Battery degrade over time and OLED being the latest has the longer battery life, no surprise here.
Its better to buy a regular switch or the OLED?
if you dont own any switch console, it better if you buy the OLED :D
Oled
They really gotta release a switch lite oled
Keep dreaming 🤣
@@tst45 facts that’s all I see it at lol
did you make sure the age of the battery is the same between all console? otherwise the accuracy of the consoles is not optimize.
i have a switch lite and i don’t know if i should upgrade to the OLED,, because i mostly play in handheld and i don’t think i’ll be playing on tv, but then again, the screen is a lot better and the colors are way more vivid which would make a better handheld experience. but then i feel like the features of being able to use the tv, etc, would be a waste. idk
I've an OG Switch. How's the battery compared to the V2, Lite and OLED?
NGL I thought this video was a comparison of emulators and that’s why I clicked, based on the thumbnail 😂😅
@@thalia955 I think I will, thanks!
@@jkidd7608 Arceus is an empty tech demo. Don't buy it.
I would get the oled but its not worth here (Sweden) costs Legit 150 euros more than the original model
Same here in India
Same here in Philippines
How did you get the Lite in matte black??
You deserve a freaking award
Still love my V1 switch with CFW.
It's weird that switch lite battery die first
Because i've read that switch lite has more battery than switch standard????
Probably a Mandela effect...
These battery tests never are perfectly accurate since batteries of these switch consoles could be between new and a few years old. Thus not giving accurate battery information.
I have switch and switch oled and i looooove them!
Jesus, the Switch Lite has some real pepega sound.
It must be really great living in a country where you can buy these consoles for a nice price 🥺 and many more. Yet there's always people complaining about the prices 😂
The OLED makes sense because it literally shuts off unused pixels.
Also you can make gameplay even longer if you just turn your screen brightness down.
just remember wifi off coz noisy routers and devices will constantly be draining your battery. I took my oled off my dock and not even 1min in using it, it dropped 1%
thanks for ur hard work
15 years?! I thought leaf green/fire red was 15 years ago 😭
Meanwhile my highly used V1 2017 Switch is already drained if I look at it the wrong way
The BDSP and Let's Go styles are not the same at all
I wish my switch lasted 6 hours I have the original switch and I only get about two hours with BDSP the battery life is so awful I hope to upgrade one day.
In half brightness how much time is for playing this game
@@dontkillme4182 not sure I’m usually below half brightness and still only get 2 to 3 hours max
Lol thanks for the information
Do you believe that it is worth to buying used switch V1 for 115$- 100 euros
@@dontkillme4182 depends on the condition though that seems like a decent price personally I would save up for a version 2 switch or oled as the battery life is so much better.
White squares are visible on the old is that cause of camera or is it visible?
Oled
i have none of the switches in this video, why you gotta exclude the V1
I got the oled for 200$ and im absolutely in love it was really worth it
How did you get it so cheap?
Si, exactamente esa batería, confia 👍👍
I would love for them to make a Johto remake like a let's go Johto but also be able to have wild battles that you can use your Pokemon to fight in and before everybody says oh they already made soul silver and heart Gold yes I get that but they also made Pokemon yellow blue and red then they made fire red and leaf green which were remake so that then they made let's go Pikachu and let's go Eevee which are remakes of first gen
Damn
The normal and the oled models puts the lite in shame
And here I am with a V1 switch plugging it in every 2 hours 😭
When I play Bomberman R Online it literally suicides extremely quick XD
And upgrade is worth it because I have a switch lite am a young person and the thing is one way to be a broken switch do y’all agree?
