      I think Monster Squad and Spaceballs are okay.. Weirdly i last watched Police Academy 4 about a week ago and it took a huge dent in my rankings, prior to that it would have been second. I have loved it since the 90's, infact when i was 14, i watched it almost everyday for a year in 1994.

    • @harrihaffi2713
      @harrihaffi2713 2 роки тому +1

      @@jonbolton3376 okay. Not a big fan of horror myself. Mostly avoid horror movies. Have taken a bit of a liking to them now when I’ve seen so many movies and it’s getting harder to feel affected by them.
      Otherwise I’m more of a adventure/action with a teaspoon of sci-fi/fantasy in it. I like movies being clever, but not smart. And occasionally I really like a tear-jerker.
      You watched the same movie daily in 1994… that’s impressive. I watched all the police academy movies 2 years ago and realized that 4 was the only one I hadn’t seen before. Also think it’s the first one with a 4x3 picture instead of the cinema format. First one of them movies that went directly to tv I suppose. Maybe I’d like it more if I saw it when I was younger. The nostalgia seem to help the other later movies like 5, 6 and 7.

    Great list! Lots of films here I really need to see. My number one would be Kiarostami's lovely Where Is The Friend's House.
    For 1988, I recommend Grave Of The Fireflies, My Neighbor Totoro, Dead Ringers (Cornenberg's best imo), Cinema Paradiso, one of the all-time great comedies with A Fish Called Wanda, the iconic Die Hard, and Mississippi Burning from the always underrated Alan Parker. You can see my recommendations for 1948 in the comments of the previous top 10 video, as there were way too many and I frankly don't have the time to write them all again lmao

      @@tranaproductions well you recommend a lot of 1988 movies and mentioned a list on 1948 movies. So I was wondering if you had a list for 1987.
      It’s the year of my birth so kinda matters a bit more to me. Also video was about 1987.

    • @tranaproductions
      @tranaproductions 2 роки тому +1

      @@harrihaffi2713 Ohhh! Well, I still have a lot to catch up on by all means, but I've watched some pretty decent ones. Where Is The Friend's House? is spectacular and delightful, probably my favorite. I also really liked the experimental feature Landscape Suicide a whole lot, even though it is by all means an acquired taste. Full Metal Jacket is excellent (as usual for Kubrick). The Princess Bride, Moonstruck and Broadcast News are all absolute delights. The Last Emperor is flawed but also quite stunning. The Untouchables is a really great campy film from the brilliant Brian De Palma. And even though it's flawed, there's a film from my country (Norway) called Pathfinder that I highly recommend, as it's a really great presentation of the Sami culture we have over here in Norway, while also being a wonderfully made little action flick.
      Still have a lot of films from this year to see, but I hope that answers your question!

    Personally, 1987 doesn't seem like a great year for cinema... There are worse years in the 1980s (1989 or 1983), but in general, 1987 seemed pretty weak to me.
    That doesn't mean it doesn't have movies worth mentioning.
    Your list is quite complete, although I detect some absence.
    Maybe it's because you don't like those movies, maybe because you haven't had time to watch them or maybe simply because you don't know them, I'll leave you below as a recommendation the ones I think you should take a look at...
    "Babette's Feast" (Original Title "Babettes gæstebud") it is a masterpiece of Danish cinema that you should not have missed. If you haven't seen it, run...
    "Opera" It is one of the most important films of Dario Argento and therefore, one of the most important films of Italian horror (cinema Giallo)
    "The Dead", last work of the great John Huston and one of the most sensitive films of the year
    "Blind Chance" (Original title "Przypadek") In your lists you never mention the cinema of Krzysztof Kieslowski. Perhaps it is more inescapable when you get to the 90s and you find yourself with the saga of "three colors" movies. Or maybe even back in 1988 and 1989 you can mention his "Dekalog" series of TV movies. But the Polish stage of the director is essential.
    "A Chinese Ghost Story" (Original title "Sien lui yau wan"). It is unforgivable that you have not mentioned this wonder of fantastic cinema with a mixture of Kung Fu, comedy and monsters. Surely it is an unknown film in the US circuit, but it is a marvel. Entertaining, original, imaginative and very funny.
    Anyway, as always good job.
    Videos very well edited, entertaining and we will continue to pay attention to the next one.
