I appreciate the upload brother. Glad you get a kick from it. Working on getting some "serious" videos out very soon (I've since left that band).
I genuinely love this video man. It went viral for a reason. It's damn entertaining and you still nailed the time through all that!
All the best brother!
Steve - love your version of wipeout with the second break with the double time bass kick and half time snare! Champion mate
There is nothing that I could say that has not been said all ready , I give you three thumbs up and a salute you madman. Take care and be good.
Drummers don't get enough respect. You fucking NAILED THAT shit dude!!! Well played!
That level of showmanship while keeping great timing shows the hard work and dedication you've put in at the kit. Didn't know it at the time, but as a kid, maybe 10 years old, had access to my older metal head cousin's cassette tapes where I'd play Dofka's Toxic Wasteland over and over, only realizing a few years ago you were part of that band at one point..... but anyway, I look forward to anything serious or fun you're part of in the future. Maybe one of these days get to see you play live and sign a drumhead to frame for my music wall. :) Cheers!
This guy is the human version of Animal from the Muppet Show. I love it.
Haha that Floyd Pepper from the Muppets it is.
@@DeathAdder9558 Floyd Pepper is the bass player. Animal is the drummer Muppet.
YES
@gasface88 ROFLMAO! Great analogy!
@@waynesmith2287 WOOOOOMANNNN!!!
Right gig, wrong gig...don't matter, this drummer is THE GIG....obviously!
YUP! HAHA
Move over Keith Moon!
Indeed! Imagine the snoozefest if that drummer just sat there playing the drums... That song is soooooooo repetitive and boring... ;-)
What they meant by wrong gig was that he's too good for the rest of that band.
All we know is that he is known as "the Gig"
He's an absolutely hilarious drummer. Not to mention the fact that he's ridiculously talented! He can goof around like that and still keep perfect time and keep the drum part to being exactly what it is supposed to be.
That drummer is a born entertainer, and for all the funny stuff, he keeps time and never misses a beat.
I feel like I’m watching Chris Farley hitting the drums sure had me rolling 😂
Yeah, I had to take a closer look to make sure that wasn't Will Ferrell...
So I'm not the only one who thinks he looks and acts just like Chris Farley.
@@Texasmilitarydepartmentvid9654 nope, I too just keep seeing chris Farley
This was my first thought when I first saw this years ago, when he gets going on the hihats its very reminiscent of Chris Farley's dancing fits
Same!!! Lol
From the first time I saw that video, I thought that most drummer would have a difficult time keeping time with all those antics and "acrobatics". Steve Moore is a freakin genius in my books.
Agreed
Not only is Steve outrageously talented, he's a great human being as well. I've been playing for half a century, and I'm not even close to his level without the threatrics.
This man is essentially the globetrotter of drums.
Have all the fun he wants and is immensely talented. Love it
I thought that was amazing. It looked like he was just flailing about randomly but every move he made kept the timing and the beat spot on. Honestly that takes some talent.
Dudes having a blast. Isn't that why you play music? I love the energy, makes me smile. Animal was definitely his favorite Muppet.
That is legitimately one of my favorite videos on UA-cam! I laugh just as hard every time.
Me too. Love it!
You and me both....if you like drums u will laugh at this every time
@@tragan1476 Yet be amazed at the same time.
The energy is through the roof and I agree, its THE right gig👏
Yes Michael!
I LOVE IT!! I’ve see it a million times and it never gets old
SO GOOD
What makes the sub-video so good is that the drummer NEVER misses a beat. Whkcn shows a level of great confidence in the drummer.
That drummer is not at the wrong gig at all: if he would be playing for a band with faster music he would be fine but maybe hardly get noticed. With this band/music he can shine and show his talents that made him famous.
EXACTLY!
That's just it, you can't do all those extra entertaining moves without having the drums done technically proficient and done right first. All that shit goes out the window if you don't have the timing and play the song like the record or close to it. This guys has excellent timing and swing and he not only plays the song like the record but does it his own way. He's at the right gig because he's entertaining while playing and awesome set of drums. He's an excellent showman and a really good drummer, period. I have much respect for this guy because he's original and he's having fun. He's adding a visual appeal on top of his drum playing and sound.
When he does the “whirlwind” type move, all I can see is Chris Farley on the drums 😊
🤣
If Chris Farley and Animal had a 'Love Child'...
A) Amazingly steady tempo
B) If you pay close attention you'll see that there are several times where his left hand isn't actually playing, it's his right hand doing all the actually snare and hi-hat.
Nice one Will!
His timing is impeccable.
A drummer who felt like he was stuck in an insurance cubicle breaking loose, No More!!..This is magic moment for a man
YES!
Steve is the human version of animal from the muppets!! An the talent an skill he possesses to do what he does an enjoys it! Is awesome! Its absolutely inspiring to me...tommy lee, shannon larkin, an several others have tried this...an cant pull it off! Even mike portnoy cant do it...lol!! Steve comes from a metal background....so to anybody that says awe metals a bunch of noise an anybody can play it...ha!!! Playing metal will make you better at any type of music....whether classic rock or jazz, blues progressive rock like rush....cause metal has it all...playing drums is awesome!! An if ya liked this vid of Steve playing...then youll like dom from drumeo playing a cover of eye of the tiger....its inspiring as well!!!
Nicely said Rob!
@@AndrewRooneyDrums Dom Famuloso is a delightful man and one highly skilled player ,do yourself a favour and watch Dom do eye of the tiger ,he really spruces up the song and adds a metal flavour to it .Take care and be good.
I say the same thing.
Drummer turns an ordinary band into an extraordinary one! All those hyper moves and he remains on beat...impressive timing considering.
Let's be honest... he turned a mediocre band into an awesome band! They would be little more than one of the acts at the local summer firemen's carnival without him.
To play as tightly as he does with all those crazy moves is actually super impressive. I love it, I bet he is a really good player.
100% agree. Love it!
ua-cam.com/video/t2znLzAcTiQ/v-deo.html you get a much better view of him here
Steve Morse is an extremely talented drummer. And very entertaining
In the song "Wipe Out" the drummer changes while the song with no interruption
The person who was the host, is also a very good drummer.
I absolutely love this!! This drummer is my hero! Keep playing my man! 🤘
I played in a band called Crystal Web while this drummer, Steve Moore, was in a metal band called Brick Mistress in northern WV. We played some of the same places and I got to know him a bit back in the late 80s early 90s. Doubt he remembers. Lol. Super cool dude then.
That's awesome! Yeah he seems like such a nice guy
That drummer has the show of his own.
Didn't miss a beat, and his theatrics were awesome. I would pay to see this guy whoever he was with.
Definitely Aaron!
Steve Moore played in a band with my cousin. I think the band was called Blackwell. I learned to play drums from watching him play. I then went on to play some great arena shows. Lots of fun, no money.
Seen Steve about 40 times he’s amazing I live right next to knoebels where this show was.
Great stick control, strokes are all right where they're meant to be despite the tricks.
this video cracks me up every time I see it and like you say, he keeps great time while making it incredibly entertaining. You can't help but smile.
Glad you enjoy it! Loads of fun in every sense of the word
I admire everything about that man
Yup!
Cheers to you for being kind. That video was meant to be fun, and you took it the right way.
You are a legend Steve Moore!
As a guitar player who is clueless with drums, I always thought this was awesome haha. It's great. It doesn't matter where this guy is, if he does his thing like that. I'll watch
The best i appreciate him what an honor to see him 🤙✌️
I am so glad I randomly clicked on this video. I'm not even a drummer, just a guitarist who likes watching all musicians nerd out about music. However, I recognized this drummer right away because Steve Moore actually plays in my teacher's metal band!
dude I want to hear that haha
The drummer deserves a raise 😂❤️🔥🔥🔥
Steve Moore is one of the most talented nicest humble musicians you could wish to watch
The drummer is like: "Look at me. I am the gig now!"
Great stuff :D
He is the show I love it!
Ive watched this drummer and he's awesome and also marvelous
My favorite description of this is Bill Burr: "He looks like he's in a dryer."
ah yeah this is awesome!! I would just love to gig with a drummer like this
I recently watched workaholics and seen him in an episode, I knew instantly it was him when I seen him, a true legend.
I saw one of his videos's a few months back feel in love with it now I look him up once in a while he's not only good but puts on a great show
He's great value Wayne!
Nice guy and showman!
@@AndrewRooneyDrums what's he doing now, trying to find some of his new work
have you done "the mad drummer at WOODSTICK"? its this guy at a drum festival (with the name being a pun on woodstock). he does a 5 min solo where he starts with some pianissimo stuff and builds something more artistic than one might expect. he's a fine drummer and humble too. there is a 30 sec interview with him where he mentions the "wrong gig" video being the only reason that he's gotten to meet his heroes.
Comedic musical genius at its absolute best! Steve Moore! You’re a genius musician!
🙌
with all of that he never misses a beat and never loses tempo. Steve Moore is a beast.
to be fair, he does have flames painted on his drums just like a drag-race car
Make the kit go faster!
Steve Moore ,love it .
I love the fact they put on a "SHOW". When you you are a cover band you gotta do something different than just play the song. I can listen to the radio or watch the video of the artist. I want to see your take and your showmanship. That's the draw. That's the part I love about this band. Is the "SHOW"
Agree Douglas 💯👌
I believe he created this character out of sheer boredom.😂🤣
when a lead guitar plays his solo but you are still staring at the drummer....
He's a Great Entertainer, and Damn good !!! Love this guy !! : D
Me too Ronnie!
Never gets old.
He's not at the wrong gig because he is the gig.
🗣The Robot Stick Tricks During The Lead Guitarist Solo Kills Me Everytime😂
SO GOOD!
I caught that too.. 🤣🤣🤣
As a drummer, guitar singer etc i love the way you give credit to this "mad drummer" being a pro uself... I also think he do crazy stuff like few can and i think the drummer steals the shows i watched many off these"mad drummer "clips..... I love it to... Very entertaining... 👌
Beast of a drummer!! Doing all that and rock solid time??? That's a fun time right there lol!!
Yup!
Regelverk this clip from when I was younger, its one of my favorite clips from early UA-cam Age.
You need to check out their version of Wipe Out.
I’ve probably watched this video at least 60 times. Steve Moore is truly THE entertainment in the band.
Sounds great!
Its a lot of fun watching him 😂
Yup! LOL
Lots of energy that's for sure. I can't even imagine how tired he is after a gig.
He's not "at the wrong gig" he IS the gig.
You got that right!
every gig is the right gig
Now THAT’S showmanship!
And he hit the reverse Doug E Fresh around the head move. Niceness
OMFG I LOVE THIS GUY....and you Andy!! 😉🤟
HAHA! He's the best!!!
That was taken at knoebles amusement park in PA.
Alternate title: Making simple drum parts exciting
If this dude can expend that energy for a blues song, PLEASE play a Dark Angel song now!
YES
Overkill!!! 💪😂
That vid can make even the worst day a bit brighter... YT legend
100% agree!
To stay rock solid in the pocket like that you need chops. Solid chops. To goof off and keep it there? That is top shelf talent.
The mad drummer always make me laugh, so he's okay in my book. And a Badass!
💯👌
Steve Moore is the king, plain and simple.
Yup he's great Patrick!
YES, so glad you did a Steve Moore episode, Andrew !!! He is a clock with a sense of humor.
I like how the guitar players had their choreography down ; Too bad it didn't matter ! Nobody noticed.
Great guy. Spoken to him a few times online. And terrific entertainer/drummer
I got a kick out of the next vid they did of this same concert, when the did Wipe out, and switched drummers DURING the song, and kept time, now THAT is skill.
ua-cam.com/video/lxebUpRgdKc/v-deo.html
Steve Moore as an entertainer performed a successful show in this video. His focus on performance art is reminiscent of Gene Krupa who was the first "famous" drummer. Krupa is probably best known for popularizing the drum solo but he was foremost an entertainer. Check out Steve Moore's latest UA-cam offerings. He is also a great technician. His double kick drum work is outstanding.
Man..I wish I could meet this guy.
me too Peter!
That is Steve Moore the mad drummer. You should see him play wipeout.
I think wrestling with the sequined evening jacket didn't help, but he did well! Very fun to watch!
I am from where Steve is from and have seen him play several times .go on UA-cam and look for him playing with Dofka and Brick Mistress. He's a Metalhead and an absolute badass that should be famous and recognized for his skills!
Great Andrew!!!
He’s at the RIGHT GIG, and he puts the drummer out front finally..
Steve Moore!
Love it. Good on him
I'm not a drummer, I'm a learning guitar player, I'm probably not into learning drums. However, a good drummer is the very important groove of any band, and this guy was no exception. Showmanship and talent and human groove will always be better than any drum machine. Drummers are not just a beat, they are musicians and ad valuable as any other person in the band.
Remind, u r a real good musician, playing in a band, playing cover versions and than millions of people like ur video.... 😆
Awesomo 😊
what that drummer was doing is the same thing as those pianist's that plays perfectly in the wrong key on purpose ....it takes an insane amount of talent
You should watch more of his videos. Hes awesome.
Yes Susie. He's great. Born to entertain!
@@AndrewRooneyDrums You are right. Nice to meet you.
it was cool !
Some people are confused when they see Steve Moore aka The Mad Drummer for the first time. They don't understand him or why he would play like he does. Someone in a comment below made a good point when he compared Moore to the Drummer on The Muppets. Both very animated and in Moores case his animated style results in a steady beat that fits what ever song the band is playing. You really have to be an accomplished Drummer to play like he does. Some musicians don't understand why he would play in this fashion because it doesn't make sense to them. Moore is a serious drummer who has done session work as well as being a member of bands in the past. I think he found a way to make money with his talent in between session work and touring with a serious band. Victor Borges was and exceptional classical pianist who made a career mixing his talent as a musician with his personality. Weird Al Yankovic parodied other people's music ( in good taste) in fact many musicians considered it an honor if one of their hits was parodied by Yankovic. It has been said if Weird Al asked to do a parody of your song it was a sign that you made it. Michael Jackson loved Weird Al's version of Beat It ( Eat it).
Steve Moore is a fantastic drummer but there are many fantastic drummers all looking for that big break but in the meantime need to pay the bills and Moore's alter ego allows him to do that while being able to do what he's passionate about, playing the drums.
Wow that's some reaction LOL
Next time you have a gig on April 1, you know what to do… see how it goes and you have an easy explanation if people give you grief.
Haha nice one David!
I love the "fly swatter" trick at 2:46.
SO GOOD!
Yeah
He's having a good time.
You should watch Steve play "Wipeout".....great show band routine.
Sounds good!
