You are the reason I’ve realised I’m NOT an average student, there’s no such thing to be honest. My studying and organizing techniques were average. My grades are so much better after learning from you! Thanks Ali!

Absolutely love this idea. I usually write "things that resonate with me" into a note in my notes app on my phone but it's hit or miss and I rarely go back to reflect on it. Since your last video I've been using Notion more and more and I'll definitely be giving this Resonance Calendar a go. Thanks for continually sharing fascinating things Ali!
Xena Rose i definitely agree if it incorporates the spreadsheet paradigm that consists of both active recall n space repetition. I found it way more useful than cornell system.

Anyone could implement notion in their daily lives. It's a lazy idea to think that only "the smart people" will be able to do this; don't let this get in your way.
Just in case the Duplicate database doesn’t work for anyone (As it didn’t for me). Here’s the turnaround to create a new one. - Just create a New LIST DATABASE. - Name it Resonance calendar or whatever you’d like to. - Be sure to add the properties (Tag & Created) - Start Sharing to the created database. It’ll be automatically added to the date and time you’ve added it.
I’ve been using notion for about a month, I used to just write everything on my whiteboard but that wasn’t very efficient. I have my course schedule, informative articles, my reading list and so much more. It’s helped me so much, thanks Ali!
This is exactly what I've been doing for the last month. I decided to start while I was reading 'Rework' since it has remarkable points that I wanted to take with me for all my life and I've following this 'workflow' ever since for articles, books, videos and podcasts
Wow this is life changing. I have been searching for a personal knowledge management system for years. Stumbled onto notion yesterday and of course went down the rabbit hole. Came across another channel that had a master knowledge management template available upon doing a course then found this. (along with another free template called the action zone). Thank you. Also what a great guy.
Creating content makes you collect, reflect, and organise a lot of information that would have otherwise disappeared. Giving=growing. You definitely deserve it. Great value. Thanks !
I always remember things I've read or heard somewhere, but can never remember from where it was, and that makes it hard to reference back and reavaluate once it resonates more deeply with me or becomes applicable to my life. Creating this system to revisit this ideias seems like a good way to manage and gain more from the content I consume. Thank you for the awesome content you create!
I love this!! I had a conversation with my boyfriend last night and he said some things to me that I hoped I’d remember during arguments and reflect on how much we care about each other. It’d be a great way to write those things down to reflect upon during difficult moments.
I have gained a huge understanding and appreciation for notion databases just from looking at yours. Thank you for sharing this. This is exactly what I need to be doing.
Thank you so much for sharing. While you double the speed when listening to podcasts, I watch your video twice. I am just starting to use notion, with your videos I feel that I am going to have a "big change" in my life.
This video was super helpful for me. I love the connection between "Ideas" and things that resonate with you. I'm trying to get a few projects off the ground and finding a way to organize my thoughts has been a struggle. The method you described here might be the key I needed. Thank you!
After I watch today’s video of Ali Abdaal, I understand that NOTION is free for 1 user now from May 2020. So I started again rolling back all Ali’s videos of Notion and that blowed my mind and have got lot of work to do - take out the notes from my one plus NOTES app, Google Keep, One Note and then link up. Now have to extract all my blogs and then add them to Notion and make this as ultimate notes machine.
Now I really want to see you film a "day in my life" vlog, because I really don't understand how you have time to do all the things you do while working as a doctor too
This is super-helpful. I’m still wrapping my head around everything that’s possible in Notion and it’s quickly becoming my most important discovery of 2020
It's the smallest things that Ali does in his editing which (along with the content, of course) make it so addictive and pleasant to watch. For ex: 2:45 the subtle fast forwarding and leaving the fast forwarded sound of the keys in the video. Very satisfying content. Keep it up, always inspiring to watch and learn from you.
I just love learning from Ali Abdaal. He's so humble and so passionate with every video he creates. I've implemented his book notetaking techniques and this resonance calendar on my notion. He helped me become more organized with what's going on in my life, and he also motivates me to keep learning. Thanks, Ali!
Saw the title of this video yesterday, bookmarked it, saw it now. I just downloaded Notion and I started using it a little bit. I made a list with the books I want to buy and read in the future. Gonna soon make a list with all the articles I want to read plus a few ideas that I kept from those that I've read. I'm gonna make this app my primary organizational resource. Thank you for sharing it with us! I've been trying to make a system for myself to keep track of all the useful information I encounter, and this app seems to be just the thing I've been needing.
This is great. We all need to be more reflective about the content we consume because in the end it needs to add value to our life, else its just a waste of time.
When I first looked at this app I set it aside thinking it would take too much time to learn. After watching this video I made a similar content consumption calendar database. And I also made a show notes database to use the relates to function. This was not a fast process. It took time to learn about all the properties and what does what. But I’m so glad invested the time. I took it for a test run and now I finally feel like I have a great way to capture all the notes from different content. Thank you so much for sharing.
I’m sooo impressed with how organized you are, I’m going to improve my efficiency using the tools you recommend and all the things you have taught me with your videos.
not much of a productive person before. but ever since i watch this guy for some time i've been obsessed w productivity. and yes ali,im putting the blame on you
Great video Ali. The way you explained Notion is amazing. It took me some time to learn the functionalities of this app. A BIG clap to the designer and developer of this app. Making it free for students giving them an edge for sure. I am pretty sure that this app alone can make people delete all other productivity apps e.g. Google Calendar, Notes, Google Keep etc. I just hope that Notion respects privacy, unlike Google.
dude, i'm a medical student in Brazil, you helped me soo much with your knowledge!! you are my favorite youtuber, i even bought an ipad pro to use notability, thanks!! i wish u the best luck!!
I love this - thank you for sharing the detailed workflow of how the pieces fit together for you. I already planned to copy your idea for myself after seeing your interview with Francesco about how you use Notion so this video is great! Right now my system for saving things is a total hodge-podge; links are generally saved to Todoist because it’s an established system for me and the quickest way for me to capture something quickly without thinking (iOS share sheet/Mac keyboard shortcut/selecting text & right clicking on the web from my work PC)... but only some of them are actual tasks and the rest need to end up somewhere else; not just staying in the growing levels of organisational structure I've ended up building out for them in Todoist! Currently articles to read go to Pocket (and I both read things and save other things to read later when I'm offline on the tube), where I have an IFTTT recipe set up to send some of the particularly resonant ones out to OneNote if I star them, or to Todoist if I want to follow up with an action. I've been experimenting with Raindrop.io for saving actual links, but it's not really working for me because it's not fast enough, and doesn't work to save things if you're offline. I've been using OneNote as the keystone of my second brain for some years (hat tip to Tiago - I've been referring to my "external brain" system for years before I was aware of his work!), but it's almost upsettingly bad on iOS and Mac compared to the PC OneNote 2016 desktop version, and I can't use all the tools and macros to e.g. build contents pages to index everything unless I'm at work. Notion is looking more and more like a contender to replace some of what I use OneNote for, especially as it has some of the features I've been trying to hack into OneNote. I already have a mental workflow of using a webclipper to get things in there (and a less solid workflow for where the myriad things go after that, so I've got some work to do on defining the types of things I'm saving and what I need to do with them no matter which tool they ultimately end up in). Really need that API though!
Very veryyyy useful video! You introduced me to an amazing app. And the idea itself is amazing! We all should do the same and write down our thoughts and plan what we want to do and how to manage all the information that we learn and read etc. Thanks Dr. Ali! ♥️
Ali I really would like to see and understand better how u use notion, I’m starting to it but looks like so complicated sometimes. Thanks for the video. I already watched all your notions videos. It’s really helpful.
I've been binging on productivity materials for the past few weeks and just finally signed up for Notion because of the likes of you and Thomas Frank. I've also wanted to try a lot of new things from the lessons I've been absorbing from this binge, and considering starting a blog or vlog to share it to the world. This will totally help me and may well be my first entry on my resonance calendar. :)
I am so glad I came across you. I am about to prep for my FE Exam as a civil engineering student. This is definitely going to help me prep! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
This is really useful for content management. I've lost count of the number of times I hear something and it percolates through the brain squirrels until it becomes my version 3 months later... then I can't remember where I heard the idea that informed my creation.
This is such an excellent way of saving podcast/article notes for long term. I currently write them in a Field Notes book but those get filled up pretty quickly and I always have to do a google search to find the content again.
This is honestly just what I needed... I have been usinh the cornell notes system on notion since last week for my igcse's... Today, I went on notion and I was very confused, this video came at the right time!
@@arvindselvakumar4798 I focussed mainly on creating a very very shorthand way of making notes. Since everything is on notion, you can write briefly on a topic which you can easily skim through to retrieve information. Through notion you can summarise data and also provide links to websites to get a more in depth view of the topic!
I love this. I actually keep notes of things in my bullet journal that resonate with me. I'll often do, similarly to you, add time stamps and such to my entry with my thoughts on it.. But you take it a step further, which is awesome, by putting your ideas into your refinery and doing something about it. I've always wanted to use the kanban method to put ideas into actions. Now you've given me ideas on how I can utilize your setup for my own productivity and progress in my goals. Thank you!
@Ali Abdaal the Kannan calender is actually a subset of Agile-Scrum Methodology of work used by most of the Software companies across the world even FAANG companies. Have thought of doing something like this for a while, but I never managed to execute it as smoothly as this! Thank you so much! Looking forward to more notion videos :)
I am so grateful to come across this organization trick! I definitely think it will be easier to organize my notes from ebooks, articles, podcasts, and random instagram posts all into one list and then I can link them together across notes to create new and meaningful content. LOVE THIS! You just gained a new subscriber
Just discovered your channel and am enjoying the content and presentation style. Great stuff. I particularly enjoy slowing the speed down 50% and seeing what you might be like to hang with after a few too many pints. Seriously though, keep up the great work and thank you for your efforts. Perhaps I'll be able to handle watching and absorbing at 100% speed if I apply some of your methods.
Just discovered your content Ali. This is a great tool for when I’m developing my own videos - Thanks! I really liked the video, but subscribed when you said, “because I think that I’m cool” - That “resonated” with me 👍
I saw this in your other notion video, and heard about it in your podcast and I have been doing it for a while and it really has changed my life! Thanks Ali
Oh man, this is SUCH a great idea. I have so many times where I'm like, hey I should put this thought into Notion...but nah because where the hell would I put it, and what would I do with it? And then of course I remember it and go, I wish I had taken that note because it would be useful now!!! This is just a great place to dump stuff and have it around in case you need it, without creating extra clutter in your normal Notion workflow. Definitely gonna be using it.
This is great! I have always wanted to create a learning journal to record down all the things I learned. I love this concept and will be applying it for my personal use, as well as my academic use.
This is such a cool concept, thanks so much for sharing your resonance calendar! I just started mine, and your video is my first page for the calendar.
Hi Ali! I'm a French theoretical CS student, and I have just arrived in Cambridge (as a visitor for 10 months, to do math/CS research) :-) I will be very busy for the weeks to come, but it would be awesome if you had time to take a coffee at some point in the year to come ;-) In any case, keep up with the good work, it's always a pleasure to watch your videos!
I started doing this thing last summer mainly for storing web articles. (I can't remember from where I picked up the idea but anyway). Now all of my mostly webpage bookmarks are under a same umbrella with various tags making the whole process of referencing a whole lot more easier. Thanks Ali

Great. I have practiced this idea for a long time now. Like to see someone(some-company) code it into a product. I am using the apple tools: calendar, notes, reminder, voice mome, and some command lines to practice this idea. Reviewing 30 thoughts regularly is always better than consuming 100 thoughts and never come back. Good productivity tips.

I am so grateful to come across this organization trick! I definitely think it will be easier to organize my notes from ebooks, articles, podcasts, and random instagram posts all into one list and then I can link them together across notes to create new and meaningful content. LOVE THIS! You just gained a new subscriber
This is great for content creation and a simplified version for effective note-taking (especially with drop-down)
Just discovered your channel and am enjoying the content and presentation style.
WoW . I feel like « am looking after such a solution but never knew it, and now am just wow 🤩 » tx to you AA
Thanks Ali
I didn't know how much I needed this! you're the ideal organized person!
Brilliant! This makes so much sense. Thank you Ali for all of your content. I find it useful as well as inspiring.
Thanks for making this video, and for sharing the template, awesome work, all the best to you Ali Abdaal.
I just finished your Notion Course and I really enjoyed it has inspired me
Oh man, this is SUCH a great idea.
A doctor who can code and much more.... Simply wow... Glad I discovered you!
Just added this video to my resonance calendar on notion :) love these videos, they are very helpful for a future med student like me!
This is such a cool concept, thanks so much for sharing your resonance calendar! I just started mine, and your video is my first page for the calendar.
Hi Ali! I'm a French theoretical CS student, and I have just arrived in Cambridge (as a visitor for 10 months, to do math/CS research) :-)
I will be very busy for the weeks to come, but it would be awesome if you had time to take a coffee at some point in the year to come ;-)
In any case, keep up with the good work, it's always a pleasure to watch your videos!
@@aliabdaal Awesome, will do! 😊
Thanks for sharing whatever benefits human beings. Thanks a lot ❤from Iraq > Kurdistan region
Simplicity is the key to your videos. Thank you for that
I started doing this thing last summer mainly for storing web articles. (I can't remember from where I picked up the idea but anyway). Now all of my mostly webpage bookmarks are under a same umbrella with various tags making the whole process of referencing a whole lot more easier. Thanks Ali
Could you show?
Tip for students: you get the Personal plan for free with your school email.
How???
@@kpmgp22 Just register with your school email? That shouldn't be complicated

Good productivity tips.
omgggggggggggggg this is literally the best feature in notion Now I definitely have superpowers :)))))))
I can feel your enthusiasm, very high quality content, keep it up, really really really good job!
I think it is helpful for me to watch how you organize all stuffs and find it easily. Love to see more videos about notion.
Finally find the correct way to do this...love it.
Your channel has been one of the best channels to watch, as a science research student. Thanks for all the great tips! Keep up the good work :)
Randomly stumbled upon this video and I’m glad I did! Thanks for introducing me to Notion, very awesome tool
this video is gonna be the first entry into my resonance calendar
