Word of warning. DON'T JUST CLOSE AND KEEP IT ON THE POWER ALL THE TIME. . If you close the laptop, you will have to keep the power cord attached. if you do this, you will destroy the battery. I have a $1300 MBP and it's only 3 yrs old. The battery is bulging and will cost me $400 to repair. The reason is we used it as a hard drive 90% of the time; I didn't know that the laptop should stay open and not connected most of the time instead. Be sure to use the laptop battery and let it do it's thing. If you do want to close the laptop, don't make this your 24/7 connection. This is according to Apple, the Apple authorized repair guys and other internet sources.

Hey! I´ve been trying to do this with my MacBook. I have a MacBook pro with three usb-c ports and one hdmi port. The external screen i am trying to connect it to is a Dell U2312HM, with a display port, DVI and VGA. Therefor i bought an adapter that goes from display port to hdmi, and a hdmi cable to usb-c. The problem is that when i connect everything the dell screen immediately goes to power saving mode and turns off. The external screen I bought used, but the cables are all new. So i don't really know what to do from here😅

Super great presentation. I have a related question. So, the MacBook Pro has the prime display and then a secondary display within it. I never use it but the second display will pop up now and then. Sorry, Apple, but I find it annoying and I NEVER have a need for it. I can't even deliberately access it if I did want to. It just shows up. I stumble upon it. Does that make sense? sorry if my terminology is not correct---and how do I control this? I don't know. Maybe I would have a use for this "additional display" if I better understood it. Thank you.
