I came here to say BIG THANK YOU!!! I purchased a mac book air 2021 for my wife and we could not believe we had to go through all this just to get extra screens. I did tons of research and your video was perfect and simple. And most importantly IT WORKS. BEST ALTERNATIVE! other videos require 200+ docking stations. I appreciate you taking the time and sharing.
After researching, reading extensively, trying to follow instructions...no success UNTIL I watched techMAMAgy's video. You demonstrated and explained every single step and hardware that would work (& inexpensively to boot). Excellent. So I excited to go in the office tomorrow and get to use both large monitors AND the MacBookPro monitor as well. Thank you so much!!!
I tried this today and it works perfectly. Your step-by-step instructions were spot on. Thank to you I now have a new M1 with dual extended monitors using the same Lemorele USB-A to HDMI adapter. You're right, when I reboot I have to reconnect the 2nd monitor via AirPlay again, but that is a small price to pay for full dual monitors on this MacBook Pro when working at home.
Hello! Thanks a lot for your help, this works for me too but i also experience the lag! Are you sure is it something apple is responsible for and not Airlink for instance? Thanks
Montrey update: I had an Amazon basics docking station with displaylink, bought an anker hub (usb-c) that has 1xhdmi and connected the dock into one of the USB ports. Works perfect with 2x27" screens. I usually keep the lid closed

Hey am trying to get this done but seems like AirPlay Display option is removed in the Monterey update for mac m1s which makes things little bit hard any idea about this.
Hi! Yes there are starting to be more options out there available for such setup! Just depends if you want to spend the money on them or not. I’m glad this was able to help you!
techMAMAgy I could not get my mac to show me "arrange" and I do see the second screen with the magic link, installed the software and all but the darn Macbookpro will not allow to have the airdrop or arrangement display--what am I doing wrong?

Hey, please, I have two questions. The second monitor must be connected to an HDMI > USB adaptor? Also, what happens when in the Air display drop-down the Magic option does not appear? It seems the Mac did not recognize the installation.
Hello! Yes, that is correct. One monitor going into the UGreen dock and the other going into the Lemorele adapter. So long as you installed the Display Link software correctly, then you will see it in the drop down. Did you see the Display Link icon at the top right of your screen after you ran the install? If not, I recommend following that part of the video again. I hope that helps!
No problem, and you are very welcome. I think my solution will support the rotation you are looking for. I just have not tried it on my own. I found on the Display Link forum, that someone did get it to work. Can you please re-do this video, the displays options have since changed with the new update, there's no longer the airplays drop down menu to choose from 🤕

Hi I followed the instructions and bought the exact same parts. For whatever reason I do not get the magic link option in my drop down for air play. I have the MacBook Pro m1. I followed all the steps, I have the display link Icon in the top corner and it looks just like yours
Hi! Did you go to the icon and download the additional install? I mention it at 5 mins 40 sec. I’m sure you did… but you can also try rebooting to see if that helps. Let me know please! I’d love to help!
@@techmamagy5688 I figured it out. Don’t know what was wrong, but after I updated my computer software and restarted, it just showed up! Working great, thank you
Can you guys please tell the original naming of these devices that I should get through links, cause in those amazon links there is no any original naming of the products, I need to know, cauae I am not from US and I can't pruchase from amazon directly)
Thanks for your solution. I am going to buy these items. Please can you advise me or send me the link for the monitor you use ? I really need one as I will be starting a CS program in few days.
I have already invested in a USB C adaptor... is the one you recommend - USB C Hub Adapter Dock Station, with the double USB C plugs, the only way to go. Wondering if I can just get away with buying the Lemorele USB to HDMI Adapter!?
Hello! This was the way I got it to work after trying other products for the MACBOOK PRO with the M1 chip. The new MacBooks have USB-C so that is where the dock station comes into play. Then, So long as the usb to hdmi cable is display link compatible, this solution will work.
Hi , I have tried to connect with different type hub (other than mentioned in the video) where I have one USBC input which goes into My MacBook Pro M1 and two monitors through HDMI cable. I downloaded DisplayLink software with external display installed. Also, I updated my privacy setting and restarted my pc. But it is not working. Do I have to buy same hub and USB connector in order to work? Please advise. Thank you!
Hello! The products mentioned in my video were the only way I got it to work. For your solution to work, the hub needs to be display link compatible and needs to be able to support two separate displays for your hdmi connections. There are hubs out there (docks) that work in a way you have it setup, but there are more expensive. Look up “Pluggable docks for MacBook Pros with M1 chip”.
So I finally received my products. I set it up and it worked for about 5 mins. The display that had the hdmi going to the UGreen hdmi suddenly went black and said there was no signal. I have a usb-c adapter that I was using with my windows work laptop when I worked from home. It has the usb A, usb C, and hdmi ports. I re-followed your instructions using that adapter, instead of the UGreen usb-c adapter. It worked-YaY!!. I can't tell you what brand of adapter it is because I threw the box away. I do know that I bought it off of Amazon though. I am not able to use my displays with my Mac in clamshell mode. Maybe it is a setting in the Displays that I'm missing...
Hi there! Thanks for sharing this info with us. I’m so sorry the UGREEN didn’t work out for you. I wonder if it was a faulty adapter? Make sure to send it back!!! If you happen to find the brand of the one you are using that works, please let us know! I’m sure you could find it somewhere in your system information. I’m assuming the adapter that works is compatible with display link for it to have been able to work. Great job! ❤️
I went through all of the steps but at the end the Magick device option did not appear on my Airplay Display Options. The desktop extension says "No DisplayLink-enabled display detected". Any ideas what went wrong?
Are you getting 4K resolution, 60hz on both large monitors? Are you also able to change the display to scaled and choose a larger text option for each one? I’m assuming you’re also able to close the clamshell so you just have the two monitors? Thank you for your answers in advance and for putting together this video. I have a new MacBook Pro m1 on its way. I just got two new 4K monitors as well. When I heard they couldn’t both do 60hz 4K through the MacBook Pro, I was horrified! That’s a LOT of money to spend to get a nice setup that didn’t look like it would work as needed! Your video gives me some options to try. Ive bookmarked your Amazon links and once the MacBook Pro is on its way, I’ll get these items too…I guess depending on your answers to my questions. Lol.
Hi there! Yes, I am getting 60 on 2 4K monitors. I am unsure about the text size… but do please let me know if it works for you! Yes. Clamshell works for me and a few of my subscribers mentioned using in clamshell as well. You’re very welcome for the video! This was just something I experimented with for a while and was the only way I got it to work. :-/ Some of the comments can help with issues you may run into. Seems as though everyone is finding a solution around Apples issue. Good luck and I hope everything works out well for you!!
You are most welcome! I did try 3 other brands and these were the only ones I found worked. I think as long as the Display Link driver is involved, it should work. Please keep me updated if you end up trying something else! I'm sure those reading the comments would appreciate it.
You need a displaylink enabled device because the driver (software) does not work with all. No necessarily brand specific because they are multiple brands selling displaylink enabled devices.
@@testinasdlkfj So the device used here is DisplayLink-enabled? I tried with two Apple USB-C to HDMI adaptors and that didn’t work, presumably because they’re not DisplayLink-enabled
Hi! No, I did not. The other devices you are plugging in… do any of them provide sound? I’d also check your sound settings on the Mac to see if any of the devices you plugged in accidentally took over as primary.
Have the Monterey operating system and my computer will not connect to the internet once I use this method. I get the display, but something is not allowing me to connect to the internet. Any thoughts?
but if im only using one external monitor can I only use the ugreen adapter that you used here? thanks by the way i've gone through so many videos and yours is the most helpful.
not sure if i got a defective usb hdmi adapter but this didn't work for me, the monitor connection does not last more than 2 min then I have to umplug everything so macos can detect it again.
hi ,i plugged usb projector in my mac but arrangement doesn’t appear in displays settings on my project shown desktop picture without any icons and doesn’t showing my powerpoint presentation, can u help me for that ?
You’re very welcome! This was something I just discovered while trying multiple hubs/docks and dongles. I read everywhere about Display Link supporting these types of MacBooks but with expensive docking stations $250 and up. I installed Display Link and just ended up getting it to work with these two adapters. I could not find anything on UA-cam that helped at the time either. Trial and error! The Lemorele comes with Magic Link software and based off what I’m reading, Magic Link and Display Link do the exact same in terms of multiple displays so that’s more than likely why it worked.
I see... great job 🙂 One last question: do know if in general (for this or for other M1 multiple monitors solutions) my docking station must be Thunderbolt compatible?
Hi! Thank you so much! :) As for your question, so long as the adapter you are using utilizes display link, then it should work regardless if it is thunderbolt connection or not.
Is the HDMI to USB adapter specific to the Display Link driver? I'm hoping to use display link driver with a Hyperdrive Viper 10-2 USB-C hub which comes with 2 HDMI ports. Not sure if hyperdrive is compatible with the driver.
Hello! Yes, it is specific to the Display Link driver. That was the only way I could get this method to work. I checked the product on Amazon here: www.amazon.in/HyperDrive-Viper-Docking-Station-MacBook/dp/B08GM845CP If you scroll down the page toward the HAVE A QUESTION section, and type in key word "display" , someone mentions this does not work with M1 and also that there is no Hyperdrive product that comes with Display Link support. DOES NOT COME WITH, but they never said they tried downloading the driver before trying to use this product? If you happen to purchase, and download the driver, and it does work, PLEASE let me know. I'd be interested to know!
@@techmamagy5688 thanks for the detailed response. You are correct. I tried installing display link driver but it did not work with Hyperdrive Viper hub alone instead I had to buy a displaylink enabled hub such as the Plugable brand. I plugged my displaylink enabled hub to one of the USB 3.0 port in the Hyperdriver hub and it was able to drive a 1080p monitor just fine
Unfortunately, I made a mistake with the purchase. I thought there would be a 4K result, but I only get 1080p. Be careful and don't make the same mistake I did.
Would this set up work ito have one montitor horizontal and the other one vertical? In other words, is it possible to change the orientation of one of the two monitors plugged in?
I wish I could get this to work, but I cannot. I bought the MagicLink and I have a MOKiN hub. It does not recognize the software or something. It is not showing up as an option under Airplay. I have loaded and unloaded the DisplayLink several times and it is not working. I am not sure if it's the hub or what. UPDATE": I figured it out. I had to make sure that screen recording was enabled for DisplayLink under the Privacy tab. It works now. UPDATE2: When I restarted the computer, MagicLink was not recognized. I had to unplug and replug the hub. Also, I had to change my audio settings because audio defaulted to MagicLink for some reason.
Hi! Thanks for sharing this info! I’m glad you were able to get it to work. That is super odd about the audio… I appreciate you including that. That could help someone else running into the same issue.
Hello! I have not. You’ll want to just make sure the UGREEN dual HDMI dock can handle separate external displays. I know with older MacBooks it would work but with this new one with the M1 chip, it will probably not work. :-/
I tried it but honestly it doesn't work properly, the second display (that is connected through the Lemorele USB to HDMI Adapter) is not as responsible as the main one, and it's almost impossible to do any work on it, may be only play background video. Thanks for video though, maybe it will be okay for someone else.
I’m so sorry it didn’t work out for you! I will be testing a few new products soon and if I come around a solution, I will def notify everyone on my channel. Thank you for your kind comment!
Thanks for the video. My MacBook Pro m1 isn’t showing the monitor under air play in settings? It does show that I installed the extension. Update: I ended up buying a j5create multi monitor adapter from Walmart for $30 and it worked. The MBP does get a little warm so I unplug the second monitor when I’m not using it. Update 2: Got the pluggable docking station with display link and I’m using three asus monitors and I use a 2020 m1 MacBook Pro 13”. I have the MacBook on a vertical stand and no more heating issues. Works great.
Hi! Have you tried restarting? Also, other subscribers here have placed in the comments other ways they had to get it to work. One person mentioned granting permissions for Display Link in SYSTEM PREFERENCES > SECURITY & PRIVACY > SCREEN RECORDING
@@techmamagy5688 Yeah I did both of those prior to buying the adapter and it didn’t work. Now with the adapter it works fine but the mbp gets a little hot.
Oh wow! Thanks for sharing that! So the j5 create allowed you to do dual extended monitors and not mirrored monitors? I had tried a j5 originally and it did not work. It only allowed for mirrored monitors. :(
Awe ! :-/ I’m sorry to hear that it’s getting hot now. That’s a major bummer… and even moreso that the original solution didn’t work for you. If I happen to come across another solution for you, I will definitely let you know!
@@techmamagy5688 I’m using with dual monitors on my MBP (m1) in clamshell mode. I’m gonna order the pluggable dock station which will let me use triple monitors with just one usb c port being used on MBP and it has charge through support. Then I can place the MacBook on a stand and just put a small fan by it and it will work great. Should have all the parts by next week and then I’ll post an update.
This is great! How well does the Airplay display work? It seems like when I airplay my Mac to my TV there is a delay, so I'm just wondering if there are any delays with the Airplay for the display? I'm going to try a real docking station first with the DisplayLink software you mentioned in the video, but if that doesn't work I'll try this other route.
It looks like someone else had an issue with Airplay display being choppy. :-/ If I happen to come up with a resolution I will post here. Please do the same!
Hi! I believe you can use another usb to hdmi brand so long as it supports the Display Link technology. This was just the one I found worked for me first. :)
Hello! Thanks so much for creating this video. I went through the process and was able to connect my monitors successfully. I then re-started my Macbook and I no longer see the MagicDisplay as an option, even though it was just there. I've read all the comments and thought it may be the screen recording issue but it's not detecting it there either. I've tried unplugging all the cables, shutting down power, uninstalling and reinstalling and still no luck. Any thoughts?
This setup works great! The only problem I am having is that the monitor connected via magiclink has a lag when using using the mouse. I swapped the displays and the problem continues to exist, so I know it's not a hardware issue. Anyone face this issue?
@@techmamagy5688 I am using two of the same monitors (viewpoint) with HDMI to DVI adapters. When I switch the monitor cables such that the USB to HDMI (magic link adapter) is connected to a different monitor, the problem is always with the one using the magic link adapter. Based on a few forums online, I am wondering if it may have to do with the signal from a USB connecter being less stable than a simple HDMI connection?
The fact that you have to do this is ridiculous.
I 100% agree with you. I’m hoping Apple can come up with a better solution. :-/ This was a freaking nightmare at the beginning.

Working great, thank you
Sweeet! I’m so glad you got it going! ☺️🙏 You’re very welcome!
Can you guys please tell the original naming of these devices that I should get through links, cause in those amazon links there is no any original naming of the products, I need to know, cauae I am not from US and I can't pruchase from amazon directly)
Thank you so much
You are very welcome!
Thanks for your solution. I am going to buy these items. Please can you advise me or send me the link for the monitor you use ? I really need one as I will be starting a CS program in few days.
I have a Macbook Pro M1 2020 and an Apple employee advised I can only connect to 1 monitor, is the Display Link a workaround for it?
Correct! This is a workaround!
here i can't change the airplay display. just only option here (off). on monterey i could do that, but with big ser (11.6.2) i can't.
Thank you for letting me know. Did it ever end up working?
I have already invested in a USB C adaptor... is the one you recommend - USB C Hub Adapter Dock Station, with the double USB C plugs, the only way to go. Wondering if I can just get away with buying the Lemorele USB to HDMI Adapter!?
Hello! This was the way I got it to work after trying other products for the MACBOOK PRO with the M1 chip. The new MacBooks have USB-C so that is where the dock station comes into play. Then, So long as the usb to hdmi cable is display link compatible, this solution will work.
would this work with Mac OS Monterey I am not having an option to an airplay display :( by the way I am using and EZ cast USB to HDMI
I hope there is an answer for this :(
Hi ,
I have tried to connect with different type hub (other than mentioned in the video) where I have one USBC input which goes into My MacBook Pro M1 and two monitors through HDMI cable.
Hi! Thanks for the info can't wait to try this. Will this work with the Mac in clamshell mode?
Hello! You’re very welcome!
So far this DOES work in clamshell mode :)
Is this still an issue or did it end up correcting itself?
Help! Just purchased this today, and the Display Link manger does not detect the Lemorele adapter!
Hi! I’ve been off the map for a bit. Did this end up working for you?
Thank you so much, will this work with any adapter or does it have to be brand specific?
Awesome , video . I called apple support and they said it was not possible to have separate screens on 3 monitors . Blah !!
Hey did you sny issues when u plugged other usbs into the hub? My sound stopped working.
Hi! No, I did not. The other devices you are plugging in… do any of them provide sound? I’d also check your sound settings on the Mac to see if any of the devices you plugged in accidentally took over as primary.
Works!
Have the Monterey operating system and my computer will not connect to the internet once I use this method. I get the display, but something is not allowing me to connect to the internet. Any thoughts?
I’ve never heard of that!!! Did you ever get this resolved?
but if im only using one external monitor can I only use the ugreen adapter that you used here? thanks by the way i've gone through so many videos and yours is the most helpful.
Hi! Yes, the UGreen adapter should work fine for just 1 monitor. :)
not sure if i got a defective usb hdmi adapter but this didn't work for me, the monitor connection does not last more than 2 min then I have to umplug everything so macos can detect it again.
Hi! Did you ever end up getting this to work?
hi ,i plugged usb projector in my mac but arrangement doesn’t appear in displays
settings on my project shown desktop picture without any icons and doesn’t showing my powerpoint presentation, can u help me for that ?
Hi! I would love to help you! Are you using the adapters from my video and is this for a MacBook Pro with the new M1 chip?
@@techmamagy5688 i solved thank u very much 🌷🌷
I’m so happy you got it going! ☺️❤️
Thanks a lot, seems like a great solution.
BTW, how did you know that this Lemorele adapter supports DisplayLink? I can't find this info anywhere.
I see... great job 🙂
One last question: do know if in general (for this or for other M1 multiple monitors solutions) my docking station must be Thunderbolt compatible?
Hi! Thank you so much! :)
As for your question, so long as the adapter you are using utilizes display link, then it should work regardless if it is thunderbolt connection or not.
Please answer my question ASAP.
Does this solution work with mackbook air M1 also ???
Hi! Yes!
One of my subscribers mentioned being able to do this with the Air!
I checked the product on Amazon here: www.amazon.in/HyperDrive-Viper-Docking-Station-MacBook/dp/B08GM845CP
If you scroll down the page toward the HAVE A QUESTION section, and type in key word "display" , someone mentions this does not work with M1 and also that there is no Hyperdrive product that comes with Display Link support.
Sweet! I’m glad you found a solution.
Thanks so much for sharing. That is helpful for others here!
Hi! I was informed by other users that this would not work with these adapters at least.
for the second monitor.. can i use the USB C to HDMI instead of USB A to HDMI? it would work??
Didn’t work for me
It says the driver can’t be installed on my hard drive. Any ways around this?!
Really!? Can you tell me the exact error? Also, is it a MacBook Pro with M1 or the air?
Hi! There's a Ugreen dual HDMI port version of this. Have you tried any of those yet?
Hello! I have not. You’ll want to just make sure the UGREEN dual HDMI dock can handle separate external displays. I know with older MacBooks it would work but with this new one with the M1 chip, it will probably not work. :-/
@@techmamagy5688 Thanks for the heads up! 😁👍
Hello, what happens if drop-down the Magic option does not appear? Is there any way I can force it?
Hi! Did you install the magic link software and do you have the same adapters as mentioned in the video?
@@techmamagy5688 yeah all checked. I called the IT support from the company and they told me that some monitors from HP does not support at all this.
Oh no! :(
I’m so sorry. Thanks for letting us know about the HP monitor not being compatible. Do you plan on trying a different monitor?
thank you
You’re very welcome!
Can this be done in the Monterey Update?
If I happen to come up with a resolution I will post here. Please do the same!
Hi, the video was great but can i use other usb to hdmi or it have to had to be that brand
Hi! I believe you can use another usb to hdmi brand so long as it supports the Display Link technology. This was just the one I found worked for me first. :)
thank a lot!
is the usb to hdmi fresco logic working?
It doesn’t look like that one will work as it is not compatible with display link. Make sure whatever you buy is compatible with Display Link.
Will this worlk with MacBook air?
Does it work on clamshell mode?
in my setting option of ariplay setting doesnt appear :(
Does this work on latest Mac OS Monterey on Mac book pro M1 chip.
Yes! It works for me!
I’m so sorry! Did it end up working after all? Let me know’
@@techmamagy5688 Unfortunately, no! I can't get the drop down to appear consistently in AirPlay.
This setup works great! The only problem I am having is that the monitor connected via magiclink has a lag when using using the mouse. I swapped the displays and the problem continues to exist, so I know it's not a hardware issue. Anyone face this issue?
Hi! I’m so sorry you are having issues. I wonder if it has to do with the monitors you are using? What kind of monitors do you have?
@@techmamagy5688 I am using two of the same monitors (viewpoint) with HDMI to DVI adapters. When I switch the monitor cables such that the USB to HDMI (magic link adapter) is connected to a different monitor, the problem is always with the one using the magic link adapter. Based on a few forums online, I am wondering if it may have to do with the signal from a USB connecter being less stable than a simple HDMI connection?
@@minhasomer Having the same issue on the monitor connected to the usb.. lots of lag of the mouse. Did you find a resolution?
