Great presentation, very informative, and Rob just seems like a cool dude. I also know nothing about cutting hair other than what I see in these videos 😂

I’ve always been an aficionado of Rockabilly & roots Rock’n’Roll and this cut is dirty enough for slappin’ a double bass in a loud, sweat drenched club , yet sharp enough to wear with a 1950s style business suit when it’s time to go back to work... cooler than the other side of the pillow. 😎
I’ve been doing my own flattops for about 20 years with a set of buzz clippers and a comb. The hardest part for me is the back where I can’t see. But I’ve gotten pretty damned proficient at it! That’s a rocking haircut!! 👍
The brother’s name in Weird Science was Chet, played by the late great Bill Paxton. Biff in Back to the Future did had some sort of quiff that looked really cool. This is the first vid I’ve watched but if you can not only cut a flattop boogie but enjoy it, you not only have my respect but another subscriber. Just wish you were in the SF Bay Area! Rockabilly haircuts are so awesome but surprisingly rare.

When I was a youngster in my Grandfathers shop, the fenders were very popular in the Bay Area where I grew up, only difference is my Grandfather called it a Duck Tail

I have a picture of my grandpa he had a flat top boogie till his hair was all gone. It looked so cool he used to taper the sides and back with it n had a hair hanging in the front I think he rocked it better than mac curtis did. Grandpa was dam handsome too had all the lady's haha

Wish there were more of these Barber 💈 shops in my state of the US. Covid really knocked some out of biz. Plus it's unfortunate that this lifestyle is not as popular here that it is in Rotterdam. I would love a killer Quiff by Rob. Hopefully one day. Keep the videos coming!!
I remember Greasers on Long Island calling this a Detroit back in the 60s. Maybe not exactly the same, though. The flattop was real tight & the fenders were long & swept almost into a DA in the back.
used to get a flattop all the time when i was a kid ivan drago style. got anyway from it as i aged. now im back to a modified longer flattop to the back with my fine straight black hair. most barbers/stylist i encounter don't wanna touch the length on top onto the blend to the sides and back.
It seems like the people who are best at recreating the United State's 50's culture are all in Europe... We need y'all over here to help us find our culture again! xD

I'm in the Bay Area and I wear my hair in a similar style. The rockabilly scene in the Bay Area isn't too large.
I call that cut/style the Ray Luca. He was a mob baddie character on this cool 1980s tv series Crime Story which was set in the early 1960s.
I had one customer that had a flattop boogie. I haven't seen one since!
