Tampa's 2019 choke was the best thing that could have happened to them.

And then we ended the Tampa talk. I love how out of the last 4 Stanley Cup wins. The Avs are the only team to not use the LT-IR glitch, and when they do it again this year Landy could be the only LT-IR excuse, but lets not forget Landy is a perfect example as to why LT-IR should remain in tact, he hasn’t played in nearly 2 years. Like cmon now

Surprised San Jose didnt make it on the list. They had some talented teams that faltered in the playoffs when they were ranked as a high seed. Esp the 2013-2014 infamous reverse sweep against the Kings

Most people understand that they really suck and were always overhyped. The captains nickname was "no show joe" 🤷

The 05-06 playoffs, besides Detroit choking to 8th seeded Edmonton... it was the first time all four of the lowest seeded teams advanced and knocked off the first four seeds in the first round. Anaheim finished 6th... but had home ice advantage for rounds 2 and 3 against Colorado and Edmonton because they were 7th and 8th respectively!

Been a Pens fan since 1989,and that loss in 1993 still stings. Not only that but Kevin Stevens had that horrible injury in game 7 and was never the same.

San Jose Sharks 2008-09 season - Presidents trophy winning team that lost in the first round to the 8th seeded Ducks... Plus the Sharks in that time period from post- 2005 lockout through their SCF appearance in 2016 to their 2019 loss against the Blues was a legacy of historic playoff chokes and failures.

The relief of the caps finally winning a cup after years of post season failure really can’t be underestimated. So many were ready to just throw in the towel on them.
I’ll literally never forget just how excited the DMV was, even people who never watched a game of hockey in their lives had their eyes glued to the games when they found out they made it to the cup.
Was just a blast for all of us, some of the guys even drunkenly brought the cup to my dad’s job so he got to meet some of them lol

imagine if the blackhawks were to have won game 7 in round 1 in 2011 then the 2010-2011 canucks would be arguably the biggest letdown in history since they initially had a 3-0 lead over them and they ofc had the president's trophy and the blackhawks the defending champions had barely made the playoffs as the 2nd wild card and 8th seed in the western conference. You gotta give credit to chicago though they played their hearts out and tbh once they got David Bolland back in game 4 of that series after he missed the first 3 due to a concussion weeks prior, that was when they said we will not go away quietly since he was one of the very few guys who could neutralize the canucks and keep them relatively quiet in scoring. That was prolly the turning point that whole series looking back at it. I think Bryan Bickell was also a key figure in the hawks recovery after he ruptured a couple tendons in his wrist in game 2 and sat game 3 then came back for games 4, 5 and 6 to keep the lives of the canucks as miserable as possible. Obviously game 7 he didn't play which the canucks i am sure were thrilled about and used his absence as fuel to finally get it done but even if the hawks were to have won instead of them he would've been done for the rest of the playoffs regardless of how far the hawks were to have gone.

    • @ethanparker7900
      @ethanparker7900 3 місяці тому +1

thxs homie. I can only imagine what would've happened to the canucks if the hawks won instead of loss? Lotta people losing their jobs like vigneault, bowness, brown and gillis, people getting trades or buyouts and much more. The Sedins, Bieksa, Burrows, Edler, Hamhuis and Higgins I think would've been safe but everyone else's role in the organization would've been on the chopping block and the team would've been ripped down to the studs and no way in hell they would've won the presidents trophy again the very next year. That burrows goal in OT really did save the ass's of a lot of people. I can only imagine the anxiety levels certain people before and during that game about their job securities and all. I was never much of a canucks fan but the core guys on the team at the time I got massive respect for as individuals and I feel for those that were and all the pain they had to deal with the previous 2 years prior and how they finally got some sort of revenge here even if it was just barely. @@beyond_thebench

But what all these teams have in common is they were the best the majority of the season so it’d make sense they’d lose eventually; because they let the guards down and thought they couldn’t be beaten. But all the teams they played focused on they’re play, and doubled down on the President’s trophy winners best players and outplayed them in other categories

I have a good friend who is a Habs fan. His fall back for the last 30 years of futility is always their 24 Cups. He refuses to acknowledge that their last two cup wins came when the clear cut favourite was eliminated early. In both cases , it was a two time defending champ, the 92/93 Penguins and the 1985/86 Oilers. Both these teams are on your list. If you try telling him they haven't had a truly great team since the late 70's four straight, he won't have any of it and points to these two latest cup wins. Guess it will take another 30 years of futility to bring some humility to his Fandom...of course, we'll both be dead by then😂😅

    Tampa's should be #1. Why?
At least Boston won 3 games.
At least Washington, Edmonton, Detroit, and Pittsburgh won a playoff round.
At least Vancouver made it to the finals.

Nah, that is the Penguins in the 92-93 season. Lost to a team that had 32 less points than them. And they did it to a team that just lost their best player.
Heck the 92-93 season is filled with the Biggest Chokers in playoff history.
119 Point Penguins lose to the 87 Point Islanders
109 Point Bruins swept by the 86 Point Sabers
106 Point Blackhawks lose to the 85 Point Blues
I mean the 3rd places teams in each conference all made it to the Conference Finals. The Season of the Choke.
